So how should I respond to someone who tells me I’m “too nice” to be a Slytherin?

Slytherins aren’t all evil!! Slytherins value ambition and cunning, which doesn’t make them evil.

      tell the person that^

“Actually, Slytherins aren’t evil or mean. They have a bad rep because the series is from a Gryffindor POV and most of the villains have been from Slytherin, but that doesn’t make them bad, or guarantee that villains come from that house. Lots of villains have come from other houses, and lots of Slytherins haven’t been evil. Slytherins are ambitious and cunning and can have a ruthless streak, but that doesn’t make them evil.”

So I’m going to try and do something like Butterflyflower,
Who (or what) do you prefer?

    Tonks or Mrs. Weasly?
    Harry or Ron?
    You-Know-Who or Dementors (as villains)?
    Ron or Hermione?
    Cho or Ginny (with Harry)?
    Hagrid or Mrs. McGonagall?
    Draco or Snape?
Which book(s) are the best? I now that this is hard so if you don’t have one particular best book you can choose two. πŸ˜›

    My answers:
    Tonks πŸ™‚
    Harry πŸ˜€
    Err, Dementors
    Hermione πŸ˜€
    Ginny πŸ™‚

Harry Potter characters compared to Warriors characters…

    Harry Potter-Firestar/Jayfeather
    Hermione Granger-Squirrelflight/Hollyleaf/Mistystar
    Ron Weasley-Graystripe
    Neville Longbottom-Ravenpaw
    Luna Lovegood-Cinderpelt/Foxleap
    Draco Malfoy-Needletail/Jayfeather/Puddleshine/
    Bellatrix Lestrange-Mapleshade/Hawkfrost/Scourge

This is all I have right now… Feel free to share your own opinions on this or any other characters! πŸ˜€

      Ooh sure, here’s some more.
      Trelawney- Goosefeather, definitely.
      Albus Dumbledore- Bluestar/Crookedstar
      Voldemort- Brokenstar/Tigerstar
Draco- I’d also add Longtail to the mix because of his redemption arc.
      Minerva Mcgonagall- Bluestar/Yellowfang
      Ginny- Sandstorm
      Fleur Delacour- Silverstream/Spottedleaf
      Severus Snape- Longtail/Jayfeather

I saw Snape more as Ashfur. I think Ashfur is worse than Snape, but they’re pretty similar

        1
        • November 15, 2017 at 12:37 am

That is an interesting opinion, but Ashfur actually was evil (HOW IS HE IN STARCLAN!!!) and Snape was just faking it. Snape was just putting on an act and is grumpy, like Jayfeather.

Snape was still pretty bad though and I don’t believe he was faking it, nor do I believe he should get a free pass for all the bad stuff he did

The similarities are they both loved someone who fell in love with someone else and both took their anger out in really bad ways. Snape spent his life as a bully and ex Death Eater as well as seriously harming Remus Lupin and Ashfur threatened to kill people. I’d say Ashfur is more extreme, but I think the point still stands

I have read all the books and really want to watch the movies, but my mom thinks that they will be to gory for my nine-year old sisters to watch. Do you guys agree? Also, what is the least gory/scary movie? Thanks for helping πŸ˜€

      November 12, 2017 at 12:18 am

I would say the first is the least gory/scary. The second one is okay for nine-year-olds as well, but the third might be a bit much for nine-year-olds depending on how squeamish they are- there is a werewolf transformation scene that is a bit scary. Still, that one’s not too bad. Goblet of Fire is where you really start having to worry. Order of the Phoenix onward gets to be really scary, and there is a lot of blood in Half-blood Prince.

Well for me I’d say Chamber of Secrets was the least scary to watch but the first would be ok. Honestly, I watched the first movie when I was like 7 to 9 years old (I forgot) and I had nightmares for a while (Voldemort scared me back then cause he looked so creepy) but now I love it! But that was me. Your sisters may “take it in” differently. It is totally worth reading/watching though. Hmm maybe they should read the books first (ooos lol I like me, haha)??

I’ve never thought there was really “a lot” of blood in Half-Blood Prince because I’m SOOOO used to Warrior Cats XD

Whenever I think of Goblet of Fire, the first scene that comes to mind is when Draco turned into a ferret XD

Generally, the Harry Potter series gets darker as it goes on. Books 1-3 as well as the first part of 4 are relatively light-hearted, but after that, it gets much darker.

As for gore, I don’t think there’s too much, especially in the first couple. The only scary part for the first movie I can think of is when (spoilery I guess) Quirrell/Voldemort gets beaten by Harry. There’s a few action scenes in the second, but not really gore. There is some blood and the ending might be a little scary, but most of it’s okay I think. As for the third, it’s also only toward the end where it can get scary, but I don’t think there’s much, if any, blood.

If you or your mom is worried about darker themes then I’d avoid the later movies for now

    • November 13, 2017 at 4:48 am

I haven’t watched the movies in a while, but as a kid (I can’t remember how old), Chamber of Secrets was really scary. Can you and your mom watch them on your own and decide if they’re okay for your sisters? Or can you just watch them without them?

The least gory ones are 1-3, but I consider 4 and 5 to be not that gory or scary as such. Half Blood Prince isn’t majorly gory or scary but there is a scene where a character looses a lot of blood, and in The Deathly Hallows there is not much gore, but some scary moments and a bit of cursing in Part 2.
My sister watched all of them when she was like 5 or younger and didnt seem to get scared, so it depends on how easily scared your sisters are πŸ™‚

Order of the Phoenix was my fav! (tied w/ the Deathly Hallows) You should diffidently read it, it way better than Goblet of Fire (in my opinion) πŸ˜€ It is also the book wher things start to get a little more intense. I feel like GOF sorta started the more… intense (I cant think of a better word) , books with the ending, but in book five the pace really picks up, But if you’re a Sirius fan, brace yourself…

I just realized that Harry’s backstory is sort of similar to Cosette from Les Mis:
Both had a beautiful, kind mother who sacrificed everything to save them
Both were raised by terrible people who spoiled their kid but treated Harry/Cosette poorly
Both were whisked away to a new world by a REALLY strong guy
Both befriended a former prisoner who became like a second father to them
Both fell in love with a redhead (Ginny/Eddie Redmayne!Marius) who sort of didn’t know how to talk to them at first (Ginny’s poem, Marius’s general awkwardness.
