Songs from Musicals that Perhaps Fit Warriors by Willow that Travels in TARDIS

Willow that Travels in TARDIS share some fun musical songs that could fit some themes or characters from Warriors.

Sierra Boggess as Ariel in the Broadway production of “The Little Mermaid”

Hi! It’s Willow that Travels in TARDIS (I used to be known as Willowpaw) aka Pondie here with yet another article! But this time, it’s on songs from musicals that I have found fitting for warrior cats (or a bit of lyrics changed, but whatever. I’ll showcase one verse and the chorus per song… maybe). I hope you enjoy and consider listening to these!

7. “Wait for It” from Hamilton (by Lin-Manuel Miranda, obc Leslie Odom Jr.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9AyO8h2I0k

[Burrclaw:] Tawnyflower comes to the border every day
I’m keeping the bed warm while her mate is away
He’s on a mission for his leader
He’s trying to keep the rogues in line
But he can keep all of the rogues
Tawnyflower, she’s mine

Love doesn’t discriminate
Between the sinners
And the saints
It takes and it takes and it takes
And we keep loving anyway
We laugh and we cry
And we break
And we make our mistakes
And if there’s a reason I’m by her side
When so many have tried
Then I’m willing to wait for it
I’m willing to wait for it

6. “Shadowland” from the Lion King (by Lebo M., Hans Zimmer, and Mark Mancina, obc Heather Headley)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fLiFbk2_S4

[LIONESSES] Fatshe leso lea halalela
Fatshe leso lea halalela

[NALA] Shadowland
The leaves have fallen
This shadowed land
This was our home
The river’s dry
The ground has broken
So I must go
Now I must go

And where the journey may lead me
Let your prayers be my guide
I cannot stay here, my family
But I’ll remember my pride [LIONESSES] Prideland [NALA] I have no choice My land I will find my way Tear-stained
Dry land Lea halalela Take this [NALA] Take this prayer [LIONESSES] With you [NALA] What lies out there Fatshe leso Lea halalela [LIONESSES] And where the journey may lead you
Let this prayer be your guide
Though it may take you so far away
Always remember your pride

5. “Circle of Life” from the Lion King (by Elton John, Tim Rice)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7T57kzGQGto

[RAFIKI] From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There’s more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There is far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round

It’s the circle of life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle
The circle of life
(note: I purposely left out the African parts to get the first verse of English and the chorus in there)
(And if you find out tickets for a tour are coming to your town, you should totally buy them! It’s an amazing musical, I’ve seen it twice (one junior version one tour)

4. “No One is Alone” from Into the Woods (by Stephen Sondheim)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unVTf5_p_1A

[CINDERELLA (C)] Mother cannot guide you
Now you’re on your own
Only me beside you
Still, you’re not alone
No one is alone
Truly
No one is alone
I wish…
I know

Mother isn’t here now
[BAKER (B)] Wrong things, right things
[C] Who knows what she’d say?
[B] Who can say what’s true?
[C] Nothing’s quite so clear now
[B] Do things, fight things
[C] Feel you’ve lost your way?
[C and B] You decide, but
You are not alone
Believe me
No one is alone (No one is alone)
Believe me
Truly

(This is an amazing musical, I’ve seen the junior version and the movie. If you can’t see a production of it, check out the movie! The performers in that are truly amazing.)

3. “My Shot” from Hamilton (by Lin-Manuel Miranda)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEHKBckBcr4

I am not throwing away my shot
I am not throwing away my shot
Hey yo, I’m just like my country
I’m young, scrappy and hungry
And I’m not throwing away my shot
I’m ‘a get a scholarship to King’s College
I prob’ly shouldn’t brag, but dag, I amaze and astonish
The problem is I got a lot of brains but no polish
I gotta holler just to be heard
With every word, I drop knowledge
I’m a diamond in the rough, a shiny piece of coal
Tryin’ to reach my goal my power of speech, unimpeachable
Only nineteen but my mind is older
These New York City streets get colder, I shoulder
Every burden, every disadvantage
I have learned to manage, I don’t have a gun to brandish
I walk these streets famished
The plan is to fan this spark into a flame
But dang, it’s getting dark, so let me spell out the name
I am the A-L-E-X-A-N-D-E-R we are meant to be

2. “Part of Your World” from the Little Mermaid (by Alan Menken)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RdrQy0j39E

Look at this stuff
Isn’t it neat?
Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete?
Wouldn’t you think I’m the girl
The girl who has everything?
Look at this trove
Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Looking around here you think
Sure, she’s got everything
I’ve got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty
I’ve got whozits and whatzits galore
You want things of above?
I’ve got twenty!
But who cares?
No big deal
I want more
I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see, wanna see them dancing’
Walking around on those – what do you call ’em?
Oh – feet!
Flippin’ your fins, you don’t get too far
Legs are required for jumping, dancing
Strolling along down a – what’s that word again?
Street
Up where they walk, up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wanderin’ free – wish I could be
Part of that world
What would I give if I could live out of these waters?
What would I pay to spend a day warm on the sand?
Bet’cha on land they understand
Bet they don’t reprimand their daughters
Bright young women sick of swimming
Ready to stand
And ready to know what the people know
Ask ’em my questions and get some answers
What’s a fire and why does it – what’s the word?
Burn?
When’s it my turn?
Wouldn’t I love, love to explore that shore up above?
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
Part of that world….
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
Part of your world

(My school did a production of this last year, it’s a super fun musical so if you see an announcement with auditions you should really try out!)

1. “Agony” from Into the Woods (Stephen Sondheim)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmixlJ79ZF0

[CINDERELLA’S PRINCE] Did I abuse her or show her disdain?
Why does she run from me?
If I should lose her, how shall I regain
The heart she has won from me?
Agony! Beyond power of speech
When the one thing you want
Is the only thing out of your reach

[RAPUNZEL’S PRINCE] High in her tower, she sits by the hour
Maintaining her hair
Blithe and becoming, and frequently humming
A lighthearted air… A-a-a-a-a-a-ah..
Agony! Far more painful than yours!
When you know she would go with you
If there only were doors!

[BOTH] Agony! Oh the torture they teach!

[RAPUNZEL’S PRINCE] What’s as intriguing—

[CINDERELLA’S PRINCE] Or half so fatiguing—

[BOTH] As what’s out of reach?

[CINDERELLA’S PRINCE] Am I not sensitive, clever, well-mannered, considerate
Passionate, charming, as kind as I’m handsome
And heir to the throne?!

[RAPUNZEL’S PRINCE] You are everything maidens could wish for

[CINDERELLA’S PRINCE] Then why no?

[RAPUNZEL’S PRINCE] Do I know?

[CINDERELLA’S PRINCE] The girl must be mad!

[RAPUNZEL’S PRINCE] You know nothing of madness…
…Till you’re climbing her hair, and you see her
Up there, as you’re nearing her
All the while hearing her ‘A-a-a-a-a-a-ah.’

[BOTH] Agony!

[CINDERELLA’S PRINCE] Misery!

[RAPUNZEL’S PRINCE] Woe!

[BOTH] Though it’s different for each

[CINDERELLA’S PRINCE] Always ten steps behind—

[RAPUNZEL’S PRINCE] Always ten feet below—

[BOTH] And she’s just out of reach
Agony that can cut like a knife!
I must have her to wife

(Okay, it may not really fit warriors, but its so fun to watch so I had to put it in first place!)

I hope you enjoyed my article! Anyway, can’t wait to write another!
