  • So I’m a h u g e classic novel fan as you may already know ( 😛 ), and I just recently discovered the Jekyll and Hyde musical, and Frankenstein: A New Musical. !!!!!! They are!!!! so good!!!!!! They’re two of my favourite books, and honestly the best adaptions I’ve ever seen of them.
Even if you’ve never read the books, I totally recommend checking them out. The soundtracks are some of my favourites from any musical ever (I literally do not skip a single song in Jekyll and Hyde) (and guess what Frankenstein fans!! The most accurate portrayal of Henry I’ve seen yet!!!!). I just really love them ahhhhh

    • Jekyll and Hyde musical is a thing? WE just read Jekyll and Hyde in my ELA class (I hated it I couldn’t stand it I literally did NOT finish it because it was that boring. I would be willing to try the Jekyll and Hyde musical do you think that you could put the link. Plz I need help to finish a project for school and I don’t want to read the next chapters of ittttttttttt

I’m gonna watch mean girls, and re-watch Hamilton for the 24th time 🙂

  • I’m gonna make a mini-article! It’s kind of a mash-up of “Seventeen” from Heathers the musical, and “That Would be Enough” from Hamilton. Original lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda for That Would be Enough and… *searches up who wrote Heathers* Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe for the original “Seventeen” lyrics, apparently. Ahem hem hem, here we go:

    Eliza:
Look around, look around, at how lucky we are to be alive right now… look around, look around…
    Alexander:
    How long have you known?
    Eliza:
    A month or so
    Alexander:
Eliza, you should have told me
    Eliza:
I wrote to the general a month ago
    Alexander (spoken):
    No!
    Eliza:
I begged him to send you home
    Alexander:
    You should have told me
    Eliza:
    I’m not sorry
I knew you’d fight until the war was done-
    Alexander:
    War’s not done!
    Eliza:
But you deserve a chance to meet your son
Look around, look around, at how lucky we are to be alive right now…

(here’s where I started adding my own stuff)
    Alexander (spoken):
I have to get back to work.
    Eliza (spoken):
    Alexander?
    Alexander (spoken):
    I-
    Eliza (sung):
    Listen.
    Fine, we’re damaged
    Really damaged
But that does not make us wise
    We’re not special
    We’re not different
    We don’t choose
    Eliza and Washington:
    Who lives or dies
    Eliza:
    Let’s be normal
    Watch some plays
Share a drink and be carefree
    We’ll cook dinner
    Or play croquet
Don’t you miss your life with me?
Can’t we just live my dream?
That’s all I want to do
If you could let me in
I could be good with you…

    People hurt us
    Alexander:
    Or they vanish
    Eliza:
And you’re right, it really blows
    But we let go…
    Alexander:
    Take a deep breath
    Eliza:
Then go buy some summer clothes
    We’ll go walking…
    Alexander:
    Play some checkers
    Eliza:
    (insert quote here)
Maybe more kids… (don’t ask me, I was struggling, ok?)
    Alexander:
    Maybe dancing…
    Eliza:
Don’t stop looking in my eyes
    Alexander:
    Your eyes!
    BOTH:
Can’t we just live my (your) dream?
Is that so hard to do?
If you could let me in
I could be good with you
Let us just live my dream
If we’ve still got the right
    Eliza:
    So what’s it gonna be?
    I wanna stay with you
    Alexander:
    I wanna stay with you!
    Eliza:
    Wanna stay with you!
    BOTH:
    Tonight!
She takes his hand and pulls him close.
    Eliza:
    Yeah, we’re damaged
    Alexander:
    Badly damaged
    BOTH:
But your love’s too good to lose
    Eliza:
    Hold me tighter
    Alexander:
    Even closer
    Eliza:
I’ll stay if I’m what you choose
    Alexander:
Can we just live your dream?
    Eliza:
If I am what you choose
    Alexander:
If we’ve still got the right…
    Eliza:
‘Cause you’re the one I choose
    Alexander:
    You’re the one I choose
    BOTH:
    You’re the one I choose…
    Eliza:
    Look around, look around…
    BOTH:
At how lucky we are to be alive right now…
    [END SCENE]

    I hope you liked that!
[spoiler title=”Heathers and Hamilton spoilers”] I always thought that Veronica and JD were similar to Eliza and Alexander – Veronica and Eliza are both the calm, peace-making, trusting, loving ones of the relationship, and JD and Alexander are both hotheaded and leap-before-you-look kinda guys, who still are in love with their significant others. • Since I absolutely love this page and it’s dying 😛 I’m going to just put up some musical recommendations! These are just some of my favourite musicals that I think you should definitely listen to:

Les Miserables ~ You all know by now that this is my favourite musical ever 😛 It’s a classic, and it’s so amazing and powerful. It closely resembles what is happening in modern times, too! Les Mis is super sad, so if you like sad musicals, I promise that you’ll love this. It’s based on Victor Hugo’s novel about escaped convict Jean Valjean, and how his life intertwines with the French June Rebellion of 1832. Honestly, I don’t know how to summarise it 😛

Newsies ~ Adsjfhskfsj Newsies is so amazing. It has a happy ending, and it’s also based on a real life rebellion during the 1800s. It’s about the Newsboy strike of 1899 and it’s so worth it. The playlist is SO amazing, and I’d totally recommend listening to it.

Natasha, Pierre, And The Great Comet of 1812 ~ By now you may be able to detect that I have I thing for the 1800s 😛 (It’s literally my whole aesthetic asdjagdhdgasaj) Great Comet has one of the best soundtracks I’ve ever listened to, and it’s got an energy that no other show will ever be able to capture. It’s based on part of Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace, (it mainly focuses on Natasha and Anatole’s elopement, rather than just the entire book) and it’s phenomenal.

Spring Awakening ~ I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone under 14. Since the blog is a child-friendly place, I want to warn you that this is probably not the best for anyone 13 and under. Even though the show is about exposing children to the reality of life, it’s still best to keep it to an appropriate age 🙂 Spring Awakening is based on the Frank Wedekind play (guess when it was written and set) and it’s about the teenagers, age 14, and how they’re too young to be adults, but too old to be children. It focuses on all of their struggles, not only the main characters, Wendla and Melchior’s. It also has probably my favourite soundtrack from a musical ever. It also has an extremely sad ending. (Includes LGBTQIA+ representation) (note for the mods: you can totally cut this section if it’s too risky, I probably shouldn’t add it but I absolutely love this musical adsjfksgfj)

Hadestown ~ It’s not set in the 1800s but ahhhhh Hadestown!! I love it so much! It probably has the third favourite soundtrack – it’s so amazing! Hadestown is based on the Greek Myth of Orpheus and Eurydice (which, coincidentally is one of my favourite myths, too!) but with a twist. Hades, rather than being god of the underworld, is ruler of an underground mining town. It’s so beautiful, and so sad too ahhhhhh! I would definitely recommend it.

Romeo Et Juliette ~ It doesn’t really matter if you don’t speak French, this has one of the prettiest soundtracks. It’s a musical adaption of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet (again, coincidentally is one of my favourite Shakespeare plays) and it’s so amazing! Le Duel, Les Rois Du Monde, Verone and Aimer are so iconic.

Thes are probably my top musicals (along with SIX and Falsettos, which I just didn’t put in – I honestly don’t know why 😛 ). Of course there are so many more, but these are just ahhhhhhhhhh!! Everyone needs to listen to them-

  • I haven’t listened to any of Dear Evan Hansen but I’ve heard the song “Good For You” (I stumbled across it in an animatic, not realizing it was from a musical) and I’m oBsEsSeD with it 😛

  • hello i have seen hamilton on disney+ three times now and my shot was my top song of 2020 and i first listened to it in september please accept me into the metaphorical hamilton fan club

  • dsajdnjadn i love heathers and mean girls (cough i never fully watched them).. Is heathers blog appropriate? Well I like a song from it. and I like revenge party

  • like nobody ever comments here 😛
but i just wanted to say
    um
    i like musicals
    lol
    bye uh
    what are ur favorite musicals

  • Is this page for musicals or flooding it with your own songs
Well I don’t think it’s for songwriters so I guess there’s a lower chance of me getting a heart attack afterwards 😜

  • So, I wrote this song…. I hope you like it.
