Wollow rambles about Mapleshade’s Vengeance

Mapleshades-Vengeance

Wollow follows many rabbit trails while trying to explain the plot of Mapleshade’s Vengeance

Hey guys, Wollow here, with my second? article? I think. Anyway, today I’m going to talk about… drumroll please
*drum rolls down hill*
YOU GUESSED IT! PRINGLES!
JK. As you can see by the title, I’m rambling and ranting about Mapleshade’s Vengeance.

Now I loved the book, actually, and it was very well-written. What I HATE, though, is the effect on the fandom. I read top 10 least favorite characters, it’s flooded with Oakstar and Ravenwing and Frecklewish and Appledusk. Least favorite ships? Apple X Reed. Everyone LOVES Mapleshade now, and it gets annoying. Mostly because I’m really easily annoyed.

Anyway, first I’m going to ramble about my opinion on Mapleshade. Mapleshade is a great CHARACTER, she’s a female villain, and has a great backstory. Mapleshade’s Vengeance was a great book and helped to explain to me WHY she was evil. However, I don’t feel like she was totally justified and should have gone to StarClan and yada yada yada. She still should NOT have killed cats just because of her kits. She might have felt like she was avenging the death of her kits, but it still doesn’t justify what she did.

TL;DR: I like Mapleshade as a CHARACTER, but I do NOT think she was justified.

Now, Appledusk. Appledusk was an okay cat, he killed Flowerpaw and whoeverpersoniforgot. Oh yeah, Birchface. I think Appledusk should have HELPED, but he didn’t really MURDER them, just didn’t help. He realized he should follow the warrior code, and so he stopped seeing Mapleshade as much, but didn’t want to be unfaithful. I think he was angry when he heard their kits were dead, and denied Mapleshade because of that AND because of loyalty to the code.

TL;DR: Appledusk was okay, he just realized he should follow the code.

About Oakstar. Back then, cats were stricter about the code compared to the days of Firestar. Oakstar was angry because in his eyes, Appledusk had killed his SON, and his apprentice. He was so angry that he exiled Mapleshade’s kits, not wanting to have a trace of Mapleshade and Appledusk in his Clan. It wasn’t RIGHT to exile kits, but in his eyes it was justified, and in Mapleshade’s eyes what SHE did was justified, so if you love Mapleshade, you should love Oakstar too.

TL;DR: Oakstar wasn’t RIGHT, but in his eyes he was justified.

Okay, that concludes my ramble on Mapleshade’s Vengeance. If you enjoyed it, then there’s probably something wrong with you. If you have an opinion, comment. If you don’t have an opinion, comment. If you think Wollow is amazing, comment. If you don’t think Wollow is amazing, still comment. If you don’t want to comment, comment. If you want to comment, comment. If you think this is getting annoying, comment. If you don’t, something’s wrong with you. Bye.
