Hamilton Songs Changed to Fit Warrior Cats by Shimmerfrost

More theme songs for our favorite series…

Heyo, everyone! Shimmerfrost here! This, my third-ever article (if Iโ€™m counting correctly), is about some songs from everyoneโ€™s favorite, ever-popular musical Hamilton that can be tweaked to fit warrior cats! Some of these are inspired by Warriors MAPs and AMVs that Iโ€™ve seen, some of them from stories that come to mind while listening to soundtracks, and others by lurking on the Hamilton Discussion Page right here on BlogClan. (Check it out, peoples! Itโ€™s the best!) So, without further ado, letโ€™s get started!

#1- Wait For It
This is one of my personal favorite songs in Hamilton, and the comparison of this song to a Warrior Cats character was inspired by this amazing AMV, which I have watched many times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_7yruql1HU. I think that this song, with the lyrics changed slightly, fits the character of Oakheart extremely well. Here are the tweaked lyrics I made:

โ€œBluefur meets me at the border ev’ry day
I’m keeping her nest warm while Thrushpelt is away
He’s on the other side in ThunderClan,
He’s tryin’ to keep the warriors in line
He can keep all of ThunderClan-
Bluefur, she’s mine
Love doesn’t discriminate
between the sinners
and the saints,
it takes and it takes and it takes
and we keep loving anyway.
We laugh and we cry
and we break
and we make our mistakes.
And if there’s a reason I’m by her side
when so many have tried
then I’m willing to wait for it.
I’m willing to wait for it.
Hailstar was a fire and brimstone leader,
But there are things that StarClan and the code won’t teach ya
My mother was a genius
My father commanded respect
When they died they left no instructions,
Just a legacy to protect

Death doesn’t discriminate
Between the sinners and the saints,
it takes and it takes and it takes
and we keep living anyway
We rise and we fall
and we break
and we make our mistakes
And if there’s a reason I’m still alive
when everyone who loves me has died
Then I’m willing to wait for it
I’m willing to wait for it
I am the one thing in life I can control
I am inimitable
I am an original
I’m not falling behind or running late
I’m not standing still,
I am lying in wait
Crookedjaw faces an endless uphill climb
He has something to prove
He has nothing to lose
Crookedjaw’s pace is relentless,
he wastes no time
What is it like in his paws?
Crookedjaw doesn’t hesitate
He exhibits no restraint
He takes and he takes and he takes
and he keeps winning anyway
He changes the game
He plays and he raises the stakes
And if there’s a reason
He seems to thrive when so few survive,
Then by StarClan
I’m willing to wait for it
I’m willing to wait for it…
Life doesn’t discriminate
between the sinners and the saints
it takes and it takes and it takes
And we keep living anyway
We rise, and we fall
And if there’s a reason I’m still alive
When so many others have died,
then I’m willin’ to
Wait for it…
Wait for it…
Wait…โ€
I think that this song really fits Oakheart, because his entire life, he was ambitious, but patient, just waiting to gain the power he aspired to, but Crookedjaw/star ended up ahead of him in everything. However, unlike Burr, Oakheart didnโ€™t hold it against Crookedjaw, but instead loved his brother till the end, and I really admire that about him. I donโ€™t like OakheartXBluestar as a couple, as it seemed to be there just for plot devices rather than being a well-developed love story, but reading Crookedstarโ€™s Promise really made me appreciate the guy. Next!

#2- History Has Its Eyes On You
This is a comparatively short song in Hamilton, but parts of it are reprised very often in the songs after it. It is very powerful, and when I listened to it I thought of Bluestar singing it to Fireheart before she dies. Here we go:

โ€œI was younger than you are now
When I was given my first command
I led my cats straight into a massacre
I witnessed their deaths firsthand
I made every mistake
And felt the shame rise in me
And even now I lie awake
Knowing history has its eyes on me
History has its eyes on me
Whoa
Whoa
Yeah
Let me tell you what I wish Iโ€™d known
When I was young and dreamed of glory
You have no control
Who lives, who dies, who tells your story
I know that we can win
I know that greatness lies in you
But remember from here on in
History has its eyes on you
History has its eyes on youโ€
When they sing the part โ€œwho lives, who dies, who tells your storyโ€ I always imagine Bluestar thinking of Thistleclaw and Tigerclaw; Snowfur, Oakheart and Mosskit; and then Fireheart. Most warriors AMVs using Hamilton songs with George Washington (who sings this song in Hamilton, by the way) use Bluestar in his place, and I can see why. She was a leader who trained Fireheart, and who Fireheart looked up to. Just listen to the song and imagine that, and I promise youโ€™ll see it. Anyways, onwards!

#3- Dear Theodosia
In Hamilton, this song is Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton singing to their children- Burr has a daughter named Theodosia, Hamilton a son named Philip. But in my Warriors comparison here, I use just the first part with Burr and I imagine Crookedstar singing to his daughter Silverkit, after Willowkit, Minnowkit, and Willowbreeze all died:

โ€œDear Silverkit, what to say to you?
You have my eyes
You have your motherโ€™s fur
When you came into the world, you cried and it broke my heart
Iโ€™m dedicating every day to you
Domestic life was never quite my style
When you smile, you knock me out, I fall apart
And I thought I was so smart
You will come of age with our young nation
Weโ€™ll bleed and fight for you, weโ€™ll make it right for you
If we lay a strong enough foundation
Weโ€™ll pass it on to you, weโ€™ll give the world to you
And youโ€™ll blow us all away
Someday, someday
Yeah, youโ€™ll blow us all away
Someday, somedayโ€
Thereโ€™s an AMV of this, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxG31L3TkNc I like this song, and I think itโ€™s really cute- as are Crookedstar and Silverstream. Well, I guess thereโ€™s no more to say about this one.

#4- The Room Where It Happens

This song is Aaron Burr lamenting about how he doesnโ€™t get to be there when the leaders make all the decisions, and once again about how Hamilton seems to get everything that he wants. When I first heard this song, especially the last part, I couldnโ€™t help but think of Ivypaw/pool. Her jealousy of Dovepaw/wing reminded me of Burr and Hamiltonโ€™s rivalry, and especially some of the wording in the last part of the song really fit:

โ€œI wanna be in the room
Where it happens
The room where it happens
The room where it happen
The art of the compromise
Hold your nose and close your eyes
We want our leaders to save the day
But we don’t get a say in what they trade away
We dream of a brand new start
But we dream in the dark for the most part
Dark as a tomb where it happens
I’ve got to be in
The room (where it happens)
I’ve got to be (the room where it happens)
I’ve got to be (the room where it happens)
Oh, I’ve got to be in
The room where it happens
I’ve got to be, I’ve gotta be, I’ve gotta be
In the roomโ€
Especially the part about wanting a brand new start and dreaming in the dark- that part sounded so much like she was talking about her fellow warriors and her training in the Dark Forest because they were frustrated that they didnโ€™t get a say in what the leaders were doing. Oh, and thereโ€™s an AMV here too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX2SCZQL-Rc One more song, then you can go back to BlogChatting!

#5- Your Obedient Servant

This oneโ€™s for you, Jayie! I saw a lot of discussion, and a brief AMV, about this particular pairing. In this song, Burr is fed up with Hamilton getting everything he wants and being in his way, especially after the election of 1800, where Hamilton voted for his nemesis Jefferson instead of Burr. Burr accuses Hamilton of voting for Jefferson โ€œjust to keep him from winning,โ€ and says that โ€œI look back on where I failed/And in every place I checked/The only common thread has been your disrespect.โ€ This song is hilarious in that theyโ€™re spitting fire at each other in the form of letters, and then at the end having the polite ending โ€œI have the honor to be your obedient servantโ€, hence the songโ€™s name. Lately, thanks to Jayfrost, Iโ€™ve been seeing this song with Thistleclaw as Burr and Bluefur as Hamilton. No, Iโ€™m not going to post the lyrics to this one, but feel free to look them up and try to imagine it!

Well, thatโ€™s it for this article! If you have any other ideas for these or other Hamilton songs to coincide with Warrior Cats, feel free to put them in the comments! I apologize for making this super long. Please do check out those beautiful AMVs, and the Hamilton Discussion Page! Weโ€™ll be happy to have you there!
Shimmerfrost out!
