Maybe Scourge Isn’t All That Bad by Rainflight

Rainflight discusses the idea that Scourge may not be completely bad.

Ok ok! Calm down! I know, Scourge is not at all the best character, he’s a frizzly freeking villain! But then again, my favorite characters tend to be ones that are villains, or not many people like them, including Hollyleaf, and Leafpool, and Mapleshade. But I have a valid reason behind why I like them! But this isn’t about those other cats, it’s about Scourge.

If you know who he is, you can skip this part, but if you do know, or you want a reminder, Scourge was a kittypet, he was called Tiny, and I’m going to keep calling him TINY not SCOURGE! So Tiny was bullied by his siblings, Socks and Ruby. Then he goes out to prove them wronge. He gets beat up by Tigerstar, Tigerpaw at the time. He then is scared by Ruby saying ‘Unwanted kits get thrown in the river’ so he runs off again. He tries to take his collar off with a dog tooth, but it gets stuck there. He ends up being the leader of a rouge clan called Bloodclan and renaming himself Scourge.

But go back to his life. He was the runt, he was bullied by his siblings, and Jake, his father (also the father of Firestar/heart/paw/Rusty) was never around. The only one to reassure him was his mother, I believe her name is Quincy. He was never adopted. He was scared to be throw in the river like Ruby said, though that would never happen. Fear drives the worst t of us. Socks and Ruby were probably the reason he started seaking revenge. They were also the reason why he ran into Tigerpaw, and got beat up.

Next time you think, Wow, I sure hate Scourge. No, just no. It’s ‘wow, I guess Tiny isn’t the one to blame, Socks and Runpby are.’ AND THEN SOX AND RUDY (I know I spelled it wrong XD) COME. RUNNING TO HIM FOR FOOD!……..

Then he gives it to them x-x

  • I dunno, I mean, just because it’s not Scourge’s fault he’s evil doesn’t make him any less of a villain. I believe that while a character’s past may explain their actions, it doesn’t justify them. Plus, there are good characters whose backstories aren’t much better than Scourge’s. Did they ever turn evil? No!
    okay mini-rant over whoo

  • Yep, they are all villains for a reason.

  • Scourge was a tyrant who made rules where families couldn’t live together or help each other, and murdered cats like Violet just for trying to live with their families, and he tried to steal the forest from the Clans and was willing to kill every single Clan cat to win. Of course he’s that bad. 😛

Yeah, Ruby and Socks were horrible to him, and Tigerpaw nearly killed him. But they didn’t make him kill any cat. He made his own choices, and he chose to become what he did. Socks, Ruby, and Tigerpaw are to blame for their actions, but Scourge is also to blame for his own.

  • Nice article, but I still disagree.

If a human is bullied by their siblings and has no father, are they justified to murder others, break families apart, and attempt to take a piece of land for their own, all while killing dozens in the process?

    No, I don’t think so. 😛

The same rules apply to cats, and, while they may not be humans, Warriors paints them pretty darn close 😛 But in all seriousness, yes, Scourge was bullied. Yes, his father was never around. Sure, it may be what drove him to the forest/Twolegplace, but that is absolutely no excuse for his actions in his adult life. He was completely in charge of his life, knew what he was doing, and apparently had no qualms about murdering, torturing and separating families.

Yikes, I sound like a total Scourge hater 😛 I actually quite like his character, but I still think he’s a villain 😛

  • I don’t necessarily hate Scourge, but he’s not my favourite either. Not only did he kill cats, but he basically emotionally tortured his “followers” by separated families and forcing to do acts of cruelty, whether it be killing someone or refusing to help those in need.

  • It’s about time I express my opinion on Scourge.

Scourge is not the pure embodiment of evil. He is definitely evil. His actions are understandable but not justifiable. Never justifiable. He was bullied as a kit, and this influenced his cruelty. His cruelty was not caused by him alone, yes, but he is responsible for his own actions and being bullied does not justify his cruelty. Bullying does not justify ordering that families be separated and killing cats for not following this order.

Taking the forest wasn’t an act of pure evil, either. It, however, was not an act of good. He wanted more territory for the Twolegplace cats. That is a reason, not justification. There were more places he could have gone. He did not need to threaten to kill them all. His actions were NOT justified, as you I have said five hundred times.

    k im done bye

    • Of course it is. No one made him start killing cats who just wanted to live with their families. 😛 He made his own choices.

        • He’s to blame for Tigerpaw nearly murdering Tiny, yes. But he didn’t make Scourge start killing cats in twolegplace who just want to live with their families. Scourge made his own choices. He alone is responsible for them.

      • But as you see in the human love fear all these emotions blinds us
Ruby and socks told him that kits that don’t get a home get thrown in river that would scare anyone and make them want to prove there not weak then tigerkit nearly killed these things stuck with him and in his min just told him if your strong or power you’ll jut beat up bullied
Anyone would want to be powerful if that happened to him yes he shouldn’t have done what he did but the things happened to him stuck with him and in his mind told him if he not strong or powerful you’ll just runt of litter
If this wouldn’t have happen to him then he wouldn’t have turned into a evil cat

  • While I get that Tiny didn’t deserve to be treated that way by his siblings, he still murdered cats and became the ruthless leader of BloodClan. He also tried to take over the entire forest and wipe out the clans. He’s still to blame for all of that, and while I hate Ruby and Socks, it’s not their fault he became a murderer

  • I find it funny how Ruby made a reference to the “olden times” when saying he would get thrown into the river. But, instead of throwing unwanted kittens into the river, they threw kittens in if there were too much of the litter or they had problems.

  • I’m sorry, but he was awful.
He kept families apart and killed cats that didn’t follow the rules, and if anyone tried to leave they would be killed.
You may have missed this information, and if this is true, I will understand.
He isn’t a good cat, and honestly his backstory isn’t that bad. He, got bullied and beat up, sure, but that really isn’t all too bad compared to cats like Crookedstar, Mapleshade, Bluestar, etc, who lost many of the cats they loved and (most) didn’t turn out like Scourge.
I’m going to bring up Crookedstar again. His mother was awful to him, made him sleep by himself, called him a “ugly mess”, changed his name so he would be forever haunted by his broken jaw, and more, but I’m not going to write a essay about it.
He was tricked by Mapleshade who made him think that the deaths of Shellheart, Rainflower, Willowbreeze were all his fault, along with the betrayal of Oakheart.
Scourge, on the other hand, wasn’t tricked, abused, or ANYTHING, but he still turned out the way he did.
You could call bullying “abuse”, but still, it wasn’t as bad as Rainflower.
What I’m trying to say here is that Scourge isn’t as great as people make him up to be (at all), and while I respect your opinion, I just wanted to point some things out.

    • I love Mapleshade, Hollyleaf, and Leafpool as well. And I also agree with Cinderfrost.
