Welcome back to our series exploring the different arcs of Warriors. This is a space to share your thoughts and opinions, and we might have some trivia along the way!
Now we head into The New Prophecy, published between 10th May 2005 and 26th December 2006.
At the start of this arc, we’re presented with one of the biggest gaps in chronology. Between The Darkest Hour and Midnight, there are two Super Editions and five mangas, spanning roughly eighteen moons. Over this gap, the series shifts largely to the new, younger generation of cats, with Firestar now presiding over ThunderClan in a time of peace.
This arc is a change of pace from the first, with a clear two act structure. At first, the action is split between the dangers at home in the forest and the prophesied journey made by Brambleclaw, Feathertail, Crowpaw, and Tawnypelt. Later, the arc uproots the action and takes it to the new lakeside locale. In the process, forests are destroyed, tribes discovered, badgers encountered, and loyalties questioned.
Interestingly, the two act structure of this arc comes from the initial plan that it would only be three books long, culminating in the arrival at the lake. The last three books, taking place in the new territory by the lake, were ordered later by the publishers. Whether or not it’s a successful structure is for you to decide.
The main question is: what did you think of this arc? How does it rate? What were your favourite moments and characters, and which book was your favourite?
(please note, the voting for the later arcs is closed until further weeks open them up!)

Moonrise, it was the whole death of Feathertail and the silver cat prophecy that made it interesting.
Shiver this is the kind of quality comment content I appreciate <3

Hey, it’s the meme song!
Very interesting w/the series originally being three books long. Didn’t know that. 😛 I think it worked well, though. I can’t really imagine Warriors having a series of three books, though the ending of Dawn would have been more impactful and cliffhangery if the third series ended just like that.
And I’ve got to say I don’t remember the second series book as much as the first series, probably because I enjoyed the first series more and, though I like how the books are named after stages of the sun, the titles are less distinctive. They blur together a bit more. I’m gonna vote for Starlight, though. It kick-started the discovery of the lake, had Tallstar’s death, more of Hawkfrost, and Mudclaw’s rebellion, all of which were very well done. 🙂
Woot woot, my favourite arc!
As much as I love Midnight and Twilight I went for Sunset. It was well-written, exciting and tied up a lot of loose ends but still left some for future books. The New Prophecy had so many good cats in it and Hawkfrost is my favourite villain, and his death scene and the Prophecy about blood spilling blood were amazing. Brambleclaw’s confusion over which side he should choose felt real and really worked in my opinion.
New Prophecy gets a lot of hate for being different, but I think it made some changed that were desperately needed. Deeper prophecies, deeper characters and huge plot twists.
Great book, great arc 😀
This comment isn’t in depth. Did anyone get the Melania ad?
PS, what’s the cat thing?
PPS, JayxSticks wedding is soon! (Jk)
They’re likes. 🙂
Agreed 😛
Dawn. Dawn wins, hands down 😛
My favorite is probably Dawn with all the traveling and stuff, but Moonrise is a close runner-up.
I’m sorry but hands down Starlight is the best book
I’m sorry but I thought Starlight was the best
