Analyzing Cinderpelts character by Moonlight

Moonlight analyzes one of the earliest tragic characters in the Original Arc.

In the main series, Cinderpelt is know as the knowledgeable and timid cat who is rumored to be in love with Firestar. But i hasn’t always been like that. When Cinderpelt was an apprentice she was know to be quirky and a wanted to be the greatest warrior ‘In all the land!!!’. She was just like a version of Squirrelflight. And that brings me to one question. What changed this sudden Mood swing? Was it some sort of ‘Cat Puberty’, that changed the way she acted. If so, why didn’t this ‘Cat Puberty’ happen to Squirrelflight? Or Sandstorm and her bitterness? Jayfeather and his short temper? These may seem like personality perks but what really makes a personality? Changes in their lifestyle. Jayfeather was blind and hated how other cats smooched over him like a kit, thus made him cranky and short tempered. Ravenpaw became shy and more afraid as he grew because he witnessed the death of Redtail from his own clanmate. But what change made Cinderpelt change? It was not her leg. She seemed perfectly find being lamed on her leg. She could still do simple things unlike Briarlight. But really it was Yellowfang. Yellowfang kept her inside the Medicine den for a while but we never really saw what was going on until Fireheart decided to stroll on in and see his apprentice. But we did know that Yellowfang began to care for Cinderpelt unlike the ways she cared for other cats. She may have snapped at Cinderpaw at times but she still had compassion to her clanmate. She wanted to show Cinderpaw could fit in by helping her out. And CInderpaw wanted to have the same compassion and wisdom. We can see this again where Leafpool tells us in “Not just about herbs” Section in Enter the clans, She says how she wanted to have the same kindness and compassion Cinderpelt had for Sandstorm and caring to the queen and her kits. At that moment in Cinderpelt’s life she changed. She wanted to be just like Yellowfang but better. She was going to be the best medicine cat ‘IN ALL THE LANND!!!’ It was subtle and notice quickly after she began training to be medicine cat. She hadn’t changed much but you could see her focusing on what she was doing, and was swatting away distractions. She was being more kind and quiet (Which gave peace to Yellowfang), And slowly she began the cat we know today. Cinderpelt.
