Let’s talk about what the fan’s call of the most relatable Warriors characters. Blossomfall is a character most notable in fourth series, Omen of The Stars. She is jealous of her crippled sister Briarlight, which led her to The Dark Forest. Here’s why she’s annoying.
Just because she’s jealous doesn’t mean she can join The Dark Forest with a good reason. Would you fight for Hell just because your sibling gets more attention than you? Blossomfall knew the Dark Forest was evil
“A good cat wouldn’t be jealous of an injured littermate.So that’s why I’ve ended up in the Dark Forest. I’m not stupid. I know it’s where cats go if they’re not allowed into StarClan. But I guess I won’t get into StarClan either because I hate my sister for being injured. So the Dark Forest is where I fit in, and I’m getting good training, better than anything we get here.”

Blossomfall knew they were evil. She wasn’t forced to. She chose to. It was her own decision. Her own fault.
Now for me to explain the infamous tunnel scene. The scene where Millie yells at Blossomfall. Blossomfall goes into the tunnels with Ivypool. She tells her it’s not a bad idea, even though Firestar told the whole clan not to. Blossomfall had no right to go in the tunnels. She should’ve been use to her clan, especially since it was leaf-bare. She almost died there. Millie had no idea where Blossomfall was. Millie should be worried. She had an absolute reason to yell at her. If Millie hadn’t yelled at Blossomfall, it would show she didn’t care. Before you think “But what about Whitewing?”, does Whitewing have a kit who almost died 3 times in front of her? Whitewing is unaware Ivypool is in the Dark Forest.
Many people had said it was Millie’s fault Blossomfall trained in The Dark Forest. It was Blossomfall’s own decision. It’s Blossomfall’s fault she’s jealous of her dying sister. If it really was Millie’s fault, why wasn’t Bumblestripe in The Dark Forest? Unlike Blossomfall, Bumblestripe actually cares about his sister. “Briarlight would have loved this. It’s just not fair! She was trying to help Longtail. Why did StarClan have to punish her?” Fading Echos page 202. Not only that, but that one scene in Sign of The Moon where Bumblestripe takes the blame for letting Briarlight be out of camp when Briarlight was almost killed. Bumblestripe cares about Briarlight, why doesn’t Blossomfall? The only way my opinion on Blossomfall will truly change is if she dies protecting Briarlight. Now this is the death I want to see. If we also use the “It’s Millie’s fault” logic, then it’s also Blossomfall’s fault Ivypool trained in the Dark Forest.
“No way!” Blossompaw’s horrified mew took Ivypaw by surprise. “She’s not properly trained. Can’t I have Dovepaw? At least she can hunt” Fading Echos page 124. Blossomfall was always a jerk, even before the Briarlight incident.
“Oh but Millie hates Blossomfall and Bumblestripe”
Kate confirmed Millie loves all of her kits equally.
“Millie should pay attention to all of her kits and treat them like Briarlight.”
Last time I checked, Blossomfall and Bumblestripe were full grown warriors in Sign of the Moon.
“Just because she thinks she belongs in The Dark Forest doesn’t mean she was forced to when she first found it”
She could always refuse and never come back. Remember Tawnypelt?

No, Blossomfall abused Millie. She made Millie even more stressed.
“Blossomfall is still a loyal warrior, even if she was in the Dark Forest”
She didn’t even fight in the Dark Forest! She spectated like a coward!

A very good article! Not just because I agree with you, but because it’s well-written in that you used sources from the books to help your point along. Most articles I see on here explaining why they dislike a character will just throw out random and vague references.
Although I will admit that, while I love Millie, her parenting tactics were a hit questionable. Not in the way, she treated Blossomfall, but Briairlight- who made it clear she didn’t want to be fussed over as she was. Not that I can really blame Millie for that.
I also did start to warm towards Blossomfall post – The Last Hope, especially in Dovewing’s Silence. It was good to see her trying her hardest to make up for what she did, and it was pretty easy to feel sorry for her and the other Dark Forest trainees after what half the Clan put them through.
And to anyone trying to use the ‘Millie’ ignored her’ excuse- then you should also hate Graystripe, who also paid little attention to the same children. Or on the more realistic side, it could be that we simply just didn’t see any scenes of either parent showing attention to their children because the focus was simply not on them most of the time. But if we were to see the books from Millie’s point of view, I’m certain we’d get to see her pay plenty of attention to them.
You’re right though, Blossomfall does seem to mature in the newest series. Hopefully we see more of her so I can finally like her again.

I have to disagree. Tigerstar was Tawnypelt’s father, he gave up on her. Why didn’t they just let Beetlewhisker go? THEY DARN KILLED HIM AND BLOSSOMFALL KNEW THAT WOULD HAPPEN TO HER IF SHE TRIED TO LEAVE. Blossomfall doesn’t hate her sister – she hates that her sister got injured. If your mom coddled one of your siblings and always yelled at you, how would you feel? Come on, Millie’s the wrong cat here. She thinks that everyone will just understand if she treats two of her kits like dirt and coddles one. Seriously?
It was too late for Beetlewhisker when he tried to leave. Tawnypelt left okay because she declined at the start, though being Tigerstar’s kin may have a part.

Blossomfall defenderMillie isn’t a bad cat, she’s just realistic. Honestly, I get so fed up when people say that when a certain character acts human or realistic, they get ticked off. I’m sorry if this sounds rude, but I am ashamed that you even defend such a selfish, jerk cat like Blossomfall.

Awesome article, but I’m afraid I’ll have to disagree a little here. While Blossomfall was immature and a little selfish she was partly aware of this, proven by your quote, “a good cat wouldn’t…” She decided to stay in the dark forest because she believes it’s the only place she can belong. For her it’s too painful to be around briarlight even when they did care about eachother, because it just makes Blossomfall believe that even more. And Millie didn’t abuse blossomfall, nor did Blossomfall abuse Millie. Millie was too blinded by Briarlight’s incident to have time for Blossomfall and Bumblestripe. I do believe however that MIllie wasn’t exactly worrying rationally or treating her kits like so, but she does have a very valid reason. The difference between Bumblestripe and Blossomfall was that Bumblestrip decided to take a more cheerful, mature approach by thinking about Millie’s feelings. Blossomfall may have not been the best apprentice so she immediately took this as SHE wasn’t good enough, and didn’t consider the whole picture
And yes I agree the tunnel scene showed that Blossomfall’s character isn’t exactly GOOD in that she wasn’t amazingly morally right. She decided to go to the tunnels because she didn’t care what the clan thought of her or how the lan might be impacted by her going off duties. Millie is absolutely right to yell aat her. But what do you mean by Whitewing didn’t know Ivypool was in the dark forest? Millie didn’t know Blossomfall was in the Dark Forest either.
I do agree that Blossomfall was a bit of a jerk. She was selfish and immature and cared too much about her own emotions to see the bigger picture. However ], she matures and learns, which is why she is such a good character in terms of development and motives. Thanks for writing this article! I would never have looked more into Blossomfall’s character otherwise
I think that since she thought she was the bad one, she dumped the pain on herself, proving that she’s not a bad apprentice, but she’s self-consious.
You are right about Millie not knowing about Blossomfall being in the Dark Forest (I forgot to add this in).

Blossamfall turned her mind towards envy instead of feeling sorry for her sister like bumblestripe was. (Bumblestripe is AWESOME)
Bumblestripe really is nice to Briarlight (Though I don’t like him as much as most people, mainly because of how he treats Dovewing), but that scene with Briarlight was awesome!
Briarlight didn’t want cats to feel sorry for her I don’t think. She was always a strong cat and though she was bored in the medicine cat’s den for a while, she found ways to help her Clan and is great with kits.
And Ivypool was jealous of her sister as well! Does that mean we should hate her (some of us peeps do. I am not one of them but ya know)? And like Sky (I think) said, Blossomfall hated that her sister was injured, not her actual sister.

I agree with a lot of this, but even if Blossomfall made Millie worried, even before that Millie never treated her and Bumblestripe the same. Would she have helped at Bumblestripe? Yes. Would she have yelled at Briarlight? No way! She treats Briarlight like StarClan, but doesn’t hesitate to let loose her temper on Blossomfall and Bumblestripe.
Cats don’t really choose the Dark Forest, the Dark Forest chooses them. They can’t really chose what they dream. Lots of good cats like Bramblestar and Crookedstar trained in the Dark Forest. According to Erin Hunter Brambleclaw never quit the Dark Forest.
Blossomfall thinks she deserves to be in the Dark Forest because of her jealousy “I can’t bear to see her suffer and I know Briarlight would give anything to be better and whole again. It’s all so unfair!’ Scorching her claws across the rock again, she added, ‘But I can’t help what I feel, and that proves I’m not a good cat.”…’No a good cat wouldn’t be jealous of an injured littermate. So that’s why I’ve ended up in the Dark Forest.”( Hunter 246).-Warriors: Omen of the Stars: Sign of the Moon
She literally sees herself as a bad cat that deserves to be in the Dark Forest. If you read on she also mentions that she doesn’t deserve to go to Starclan. Blossomfall is in a low place mentally. She feels sorry for sister and hates to see her suffer. If she didn’t care about her sister she would not be sad about her suffering or feel bad about being jealous. Blossomfall can’t help being jealous. People can’t control what they feel, they only control how they respond to those feelings. If people could pick and chose their current feeling, then people with depression could just choose to be happy.
Millie doesn’t know that Blossomfall and Ivypool were in the tunnels, there is no way she could have known that since she was in camp. All she knows is that Blossomfall was missing for some time. For all Millie knows Blossomfall and Ivypool could have been attacked by fox. She yelled without evidence of Blossomfall doing wrong.
I disagree with the idea that she yelled at her because she cared. Lets take a look at Millie’s words “Her tail-tip was twitching in annoyance. ..’Where have you been?’ Millie snapped. ‘You’ve wasted a whole morning when you could have been hunting!’ Glancing up at Briarlight, …she added, ‘Your sister would give anything to help feed the Clan! It’s time you grew up Blossomfall, and started to behave like a proper warrior.”(Hunter 255). Right off the bat we see she is annoyed not concerned. If she was yelling out of worry, Millie’s words would have focused on how Blossomfall could have been hurt or that she put herself in danger. Compare what Millie says to Blossomfall to what Mufasa says to Simba in the Lion King. It is mentioned that Blossomfall is hurt and Millie is not even mildly concerned with the fact her daughter is injured. Also bringing up Briarlight’s condition was inappropriate and emotionally manipulative. Not to mention very insensitive to Briarlight. How do you think Briarlight feels hearing her mother using the fact that she is injured against her sister?
Millie’s response was irrational. If someone from your family disappeared for hours and came hurt, would you yell at them?
All people need to know they are loved and cared for, even adults. Being loving towards Blossomfall, Bumblestripe, and Graystripe doesn’t mean Millie would need to baby them. Look at how Leafpool and Squirrelflight treat Lionblaze and Jayfeather. Plenty of adult cats in the books look out for each other and give each other emotional support. Bramblestar comforts Dustpelt when he grieving over Ferncloud. When Poppyfrost doubts Berrynose’s love for her, other cats reassure her that he does love her. She could give Blossomfall and Bumblestripe a kind word here and there, treat them like clanmates.
Blossomfall abused Millie by making her more stressed because she got injured? How dare Blossomfall get hurt. StarClan forbid Bumblestripe or Graystripe get hurt.
What about Thornclaw, Mousewhisker, and Birchfall? They joined the Dark Forest with absolutely no reason.
How did Blossomfall abuse Millie? Does she attempt to hurt Millie? No! Does she try to manipulate Millie? No!
Millie verbally abused Blossomfall. Characteristics of verbal abuse include humiliation, degradation, and condescension. All which we see in what Millie says to Blossomfall “Her tail-tip was twitching in annoyance. Wow, Ivypool thought, feeling a pang of guilt that Whitewing had been so kind and sympathetic to her. Millie really does think she’s got only one kit now. ‘Where have you been?’ Millie snapped. ‘You’ve wasted a whole morning when you could have been hunting!’ Glancing back at Briarlight…she added, ‘Your sister would give anything to help feed the Clan! It’s time you grew up, Blossomfall and started to behave like a proper warrior.’ Several cats stretched their eyes wide. ‘There’s no harm done.’ Brackenfur meowed, blinking at Blossomfall in concern. Both cats are home safe, and that’s the main thing, isn’t it?’ ‘Is it Millie drew her lips back in a snarl. Her eyes were full of bitterness…”(Hunter 254-255).-Warriors Omen of the stars Sign of the Moon.
Millie humiliates Blossomfall in front of her clanmates. She degrades her by comparing her to her sister. Nothing in her words expresses concern for Blossomfall’s well being. If she cared, she would have said something about how worried she was or expressed being upset with Blossomfall for putting herself in danger. Millie’s body language also expresses that she does not care, her eyes are filled with bitterness. She acts like Blossomfall is nothing but a problem. Millie treats Blossomfall in a similary way to how Mr.Dursely treated Harry Potter.
Kate may say Millie loves her kits equally, but Millie’s actions do not reflect that at all. After Briarlight’s accident does Millie ever say anything kind to her other children? When does she treat them like clanmates?
Bumblestripe and Blossomfall are not babies, but they deserve a mother who is kind to them. Millie could have acknowledged Blossomfall when Hazeltail said she looked ill. She also could have acknowledged that her daughter was hurt when she came back to camp limping with a cut on her head. Other cats acknowledge their adult children. Dustpelt voulunteers to take Spiderleg’s place on patrol so he can spend time at the nursery. Squirrelflight and Leafpool still care about Jayfeather and Lionblaze. In Power of Three, Sorreltail says her children are still her children even though they are grown up. In Omen of the Stars, Daisy cares when Mousewhisker gets belly-ache.
