Medicine Cat Elections, Day 7: The Fifth Hustings!

Welcome back, folks! In case you missed it, we’re holding elections to find the new Medicine Cat of BlogClan, the new representative of our community!Applications are now closed, and it’s time for the rest of the candidates to get their chance to speak to voters!

We underestimated the number of applicants, so today is our bonus day of hustings as we prepare for voting to commence later today!

Answering your questions today, we have Breeze That Glides Through Summer, Eagleclaw, Leafskip, Rosefur, Sapphireheart, Silvertail, Sorrelheart, Sunlightning and Shimmerfrost! Please be as welcoming and supportive to them as possible, we’ve got some fantastic candidates up on stage today!

Just like before, candidates may use the comments below as a space to put their campaign, and other members of BlogClan can use the comments as a space to ask questions, for example: why do candidates want this role, what do they hope to get out of it, how have they helped BlogClan, and how do they hope to change BlogClan for the better?

Just like over the last few days, I really want to extend a thank you to all our candidates. You’ve done a fantastic job so far, and I think I can speak for all of BlogClan when I say we’re proud of you all.

Another thank you to Shiv for the posters! Still top quality (just like Eagleclaw’s speech)!

With that all said, I’m going to hand the floor over to our candidates and to you, BlogClan!

Don’t be afraid to repeat questions from the last few days!

Breeze That Glides Through Summer

Cheerful, devoted, friendly

Hi, everyone! 🙂 In case you don’t already know me, I’m Breeze that Glides Through Summer! I know I probably haven’t been on that long compared to other BlogClanners, but I’ve been here long enough to know that BlogClan is truly amazing. BlogClan has seriously become like a second home to me and I love it’s a very close-knit community. Everyone is just so supportive and kind on here, and I love it! I know what it feels like to not belong, to not feel to wanted, to go through pain alone. One of my favorite quotes by Aesop is: “No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.” I find it so inspiring that a simple act of kindness can change someone’s life for the better, and I’d like to be able to do that. If I had the incredible opportunity of being medicine cat, I would like to make everyone feel welcomed and comfortable being themselves, just like other BlogClanners have done. The role of medicine cat has always held a special meaning to me. I would also help new members, build people up, and most importantly, try to help BlogClan as a whole. I am so grateful to have meet such lovely people on here and I wouldn’t trade my time on here for anything in the world. Good luck to all the other fantabulous candidates!!! Have a wonderful day, everyone! 🙂 <3

Eagleclaw

Considerate, honest, welcoming

(I wanted to do something slightly different with my speech; I apologise in advance for the length. Enjoy!)

The air is cold as it drifts between the salon doors and enters the core of BlogClan – the Tavern. It comes across the ever-burning fire and changes to optimal temperature, unable to withstand the warm, diverse aura contained within and throughout BlogClan. In the Tavern, of which is truly packed to the brim but where there is always space for more, excitement reigns as the countless number inside eagerly await the speeches of their Clanmates to come. Sat by the bar that faces towards the staging area or seated upon one of the many stools around thin circular tables, they have already enjoyed the speeches of those who have already come to the fore. And when an announcement is given, the patrons’ friendly conversations fade to a dull hum. Another candidate rises to the stage. The black tom with blue eyes, Eagleclaw, little seen on any live chat but still thoroughly active on the Blog itself, scans over the supportive gazes of those in the crowd. Then, after clearing his throat, he begins…

“As you can see with your own eyes, this community is a vibrant, welcoming place. For that reason, this is surely one of the best places on the internet. There is no abuse, no bullying, no hate, only warmth and many, many – no, countless – kind, dedicated members. In the seven-hundred-and-twenty days (as of 04/07/17) that I’ve been a part of this – don’t worry, I’m not insane: a date calculator was used to work it out – this incredible community has blossomed to new levels. Though some have become inactive, many more have stayed active, and with the change from the old Blog to the new, there has been much change: the much-loved NTA is one of my favourite pages and the transition from the Wiki to the Blog of the Art Contest promises that fresh creative is never beyond the horizon. However, what has not changed and what, I’m absolutely certain, will never change is the amount of members who make the Blog click through their goodwill and their big hearts. All of you deserve more, and this community wouldn’t work without the many. Unfortunately, though, only one can achieve the Medicine Cat role. Thus, the following is why I believe myself to be the best candidate for this illustrious position.” “Indications of my dedication – you may have noticed the rhyme there – have been evident throughout my stay on BlogClan: – I have been a senior warrior for about a year now, and my activity on the Blog hasn’t wavered, though I understand I need to be more active on the live chats, especially once my current workload has passed and if I gain this position, as I know I’m not as well-known by some of the newer members than I am with those who have been here for longer. – Over my two-plus years on BlogClan, I have contributed a lot to the FanFic page. I credit it with inspiring me to write, and I love to share that inspiration with others. This is why I always try to offer positive advice and developed critique to those on it as much as possible. Another example of all this is the FanFic contest I helped Sunny with, in which we had to judge and determine the quality of a wide range of thrilling entries. I’m pretty sure the number of entries we received reflected how much people enjoyed the experience. – On the Say Hi… page, I always try to welcome new members to the Blog with a short welcoming message so that they feel welcomed instantly and are more willing to become a larger part of the Blog. – I’m also pretty confident – someone can call me out if I’m wrong – I have always conducted myself in a respectable and considerate manner on BlogClan, knowing the majority of BlogClan’s audience is of a younger age. I cannot recall a time where I’ve had a serious argument with anyone.” “Before I conclude, I’d like to mention two ideas I have to improve the Blog: – First: Well, I think everyone would agree with me on this and it wouldn’t surprise me if it has already been mentioned by someone – the New Member’s Page needs to be overhauled with fresh messages from current BlogClanners. With all due respect, many are written by those who are now not so active. I can’t remember exactly how it worked last time – I believe it was some kind of vouch system – but I would immediately work towards updating that page. – Second: While the previous is a lot more definitive, this is more of an idea – if there is enough interest, I thought it could be a good idea to do a main FanFic contest on the Blog as more of a monthly/bi-monthly contest, in which people can enter their prompts, allowing them to reach wider audiences. Myself and one or two other guest judges, chosen at random most likely, could decide on the pecking order. A lot of this is still undecided, and it’s more of an idea, but if the Art Contest can grow to be a main-blog attraction, this could be the writer’s equivalent. But, hey, this totally depends on what you guys think.” “Anyways, due to the length of this speech so far, I won’t bore you for much longer. I have already given you reasons as to why I believe you should vote for me. Overall, though, I would like everyone who votes to consider all the applicants with an open-mind and to choose the candidate you believe will be the best for the role, as I know you will regardless. And remember a small fish in a big pond can make a difference. Finally, a big thank you for reading and best of luck to all those who are running!”

Leafskip

I am awesome

BlogClan is an amazing place, filled with friends and a happy environment. We can fangirl, cheer each other up, or just be random! It’s one of the best online communities I’ve ever seen. That being said, I’ve always wanted to contribute to BlogClan, since I was just a little kit! I’m a warrior now, and in the title of Medicine Cat I see the way I’ve always wanted to help make this place better than it already is (if that’s even possible, of course). I always try my best to love everyone, and I think friendliness is something a Medicine Cat needs. I’m also fun and random, though, so I think I can represent BlogClan well.

Rosefur

Welcoming, helpful, kind

I have been a fan of Warriors ever since I read the first page. Approximately two years ago, I found BlogClan. And BlogClan is where my home has been for a long time. Becoming the BlogClan medicine cat would mean the world to me. BlogClan is a home for every Warrior Cats fan, and I want to become a bigger part of it. I have written countless pages of fanfiction, and I frequent the Live Chat. Occasionally, I help with TSGN. I enjoy being in Gatherings too if I can make it! I have seen how friendly this community is, and I would love the chance to do more. This is a perfect opportunity for me to share my appreciation with all of you. Every single member of BlogClan has contributed in some way to the glorious community we have. I have gotten to know several of you very well, and I am meeting more Warrior fans every day. As a medicine cat, new possibilities would open up for me. I think I speak for all of us when I say that a medicine cat plays a vital role in BlogClan. I love to answer questions and welcome new members, so if I were to be picked, I could do even more! In these two years as a BlogClan member, it’s been my dream to become a medicine cat. And to every single member, thank you for supporting me the entire way! If I become medicine cat, I will dedicate every spare moment to ensuring that BlogClan is at its best! All I need is the chance. <3

Sapphireheart

Helpful, honest, friendly

Hello everyone, I’m Sapphireheart. I have been called by many names mostly Sapphie and Sapph. I haven’t been on here as long as others but I am very active on here since I found Blogclan. I was lucky to be able to navigate the website on my own at the start and I want to help the new members navigate the website so that they can enjoy it as much as I do. I am often on the new members page as well as the live chat often whenever it’s open. I hope as Medicine Cat I will help and keep the peace the best I can on Blogclan. Thank you everyone for giving me this opportunity.

Silvertail

Funny, kind, friendly

Well, most people don’t know me. I’m not super involved in games, live chat, the wiki, or welcoming new members. But I want to be. When I joined BlogClan all those months ago, I was scared. I was unsure of how things worked, of the members, of myself. But with the help of others, I came to love this place. I want to be the one that helps the newcomers, that makes people feel safe. Some of you may remember that I applied to be a tsar a few months ago. I didn’t get the job, but that didn’t bring me down. Yes, I was a bit sad, but I was then filled with a determination to do whatever else I can do to help this blog. I may not be the most popular member, or the most active, or the most talented, as some are… But I can still take a chance. It’s okay if I don’t win, because I will get back up and try again, so that I can help make this blog the best it can be.

Sorrelheart

Reliable, trustworthy, nice

I would like to become medicine cat of blogclan because I love warrior cats, I love being apart of blogclan, and I enjoy being here for blogclan and it’s members!!!

Sunlightning

Loyal, funny, helpful

I would like to become the medicine cat of blogclan because I was always interested in herbs since I started reading warriors, even my OC is s medicine cat.

Shimmerfrost

Intelligent, kind, worker

Hey, guys, I’m Shimmerfrost, and I’ve decided to run for the position of medicine cat of BlogClan. I love BlogClan- it’s like a second home to me. This place has changed my life. Ever since I first joined this site three or so years ago as a wide-eyed seventh grader, just entering the world of Warrior Cats for the first time, people were welcoming and kind and understanding. I was astonished that something as simple as the fanbase of a book series could create such an intricate and complex community. Here, everyone got along, whether they knew each other or not. Everyone was a friend- even a socially awkward nerd like me. They discussed theories, predictions, opinions, taking the world I knew to a whole different level I had never even imagined before. I remember looking up to people like Jayfrost and Kat and saying “wow- I wish I could be like them someday.” And, as I grew in real life, this site influenced me. I wanted to be as smart as Jayfrost. I wanted to be as kind as Kat. I wanted to be as cool as Shiver. And so I became smarter and kinder and better, and even now they still help me improve myself. I wrote articles, I made friends, and still I looked up to my role models. I’m still definitely not the smartest, kindest, coolest, or most well-known member on BlogClan- I’m no Jayie, no Kat, no Shiv- but that’s okay. A lesson I learned here long ago is to be yourself. And so that’s what I do! I help out in the small ways an everyday member can- make the newer members feel welcome, write articles, post comments, and just participate! I like to try and make everyone feel good, like the members so long ago did for me. And as medicine cat of BlogClan, I know I could help out even more. I wasn’t sure whether I should apply or not when so many greater members are applying- just the thought of trying to fill in Kat’s shoes is almost enough to make me back down and wait for another day. But why not try? The chances given to everyone on this site are amazing- as proven by the election of our wonderful BlogTeam members Embix and Icy not too long ago. This site has given me so much over the years, and there’s nothing I’d love more than to be able to give back.

Tune in later for the first round of voting to begin!

  • Hi! Hello! Sup! Greetings! Salutations! I’m Silvertail, and I’m running for medicine cat. Not many people even know I exist, but I just wanted to say feel free to ask me any questions or tell me anything. Good luck to all of the candidates! 😀

  • I don’t think I’ll be able to be answer more questions in the evening due to Girl Scouts, but I’ll try my best to answer questions up until then! 🙂

    • It’s fine! Voting actually starts around evening (I think) so there won’t really be any questions. 😛
(Girl Scouts? Do you have… COOKIES?!)

      • Yeah, you’re probably right! 😀
        (I wish I did, but unfortunately I don’t! I really want some Thin Mints right now… 😛 )

      • Voting has actually already started, but I think it’s cool to still ask questions until the polls close 🙂

  • I made a poster for the elections! Yipperdoodles! I’m pretty sure I wrote down all the names of the candidates on here, but I have made any mistakes, please don’t hesitate to tell me. Thanks and have a fantastic day! 🙂

  • Why are you running for Medicine Cat?? What do you think you can help change?? How do you wish to benefit BlogClan? Why Should I vote for you?? If someone said they didn’t like you what would you do?

    • 1 – Why are you running for Medicine Cat?
I’m motivated to get this role. I remember when the elections in 2015 went by and thinking how cool it would be to among the contenders. And, staying active since then, I think I’d have regretted it if I hadn’t run. As mentioned in my speech, I thoroughly believe I have the qualities to maximise this role. This process as a whole has also been a fantastic opportunity to compete against others and interact more with members of the Blog. Even if I don’t win, I’m more than pleased to have taken part.
2 – What do you think you can change?
As highlighted in my speech, I feel strongly about overhauling the New Member’s Page to update it with current-day, active members. Just like the change from the old Blog to this here new version, it needs to be updated.
3 – How do you wish to benefit BlogClan?
A lot of the stuff I’ve already mentioned such as the above and making contests more accessible and interactive for those who struggle to get their prompts to wider audiences. I’d like to work with those in that situation to develop their prompts and try to get them to work on a bigger stage. And currently, I believe I already benefit BlogClan through my feedback, my compassion, and my continued activity on the Blog itself. This will continue regardless of the electoral result.
4 – Why should I vote for you?
I feel a lot of the stuff I’ve already mentioned should sway you on why you should vote for me – my speech itself, my feedback, my compassion, and my continued activity on the Blog itself. Overall, though, I respect that it is absolutely your decision on who to vote for and, at the end of the day, you should vote for whoever you think will be the best for BlogClan whether that is me or someone else. It’s your choice.
5 – If someone said they didn’t like you, what would you do?
First, ask them why they don’t like me. Second, see if I can act upon the response they give. If I can, I will. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be too fussed about it. If I believe I’m conducting myself in the right manner etc. and there’s not an overarching problem with my behaviour and whatever else in the eyes of others, I wouldn’t change myself just for one person. Everyone’s an individual, and there’s bound to be some who disagree with what I do, how I act etc.

Thank you very much for the questions, Bluepaw; I enjoyed writing responses to them. 🙂

    • 1: So I can be a source of inspiration, motivation and guidance to those who need it. 🙂

2: I want to be able to help preserve the feeling of happiness and care in this community, so everyone feels relaxed and safe.

3: I think that with this position, I can help BlogClan run smoothly, and keep it as amazing and friendly as it is.

4: I believe that I’m a very happy and friendly person, and being probably the youngest candidate (as in time I’ve been on BlogClan) running, I can relate to being the new person and know how to treat new members.

5: I would try to find out why they don’t like me, but stay nice and polite to the person. If they don’t like something about me that I can’t change (age, appearance, etc.) then I would apologize and explain that there’s not much reason to dislike me.

Those are some really good questions, Bluepaw! 😀 Sorry for the short answers-I don’t have much time to talk today.

      • Oh its fine!! Great answers!! I have been doing a garage sale so I understand completely.
