Ship: Mothwing X Leafpool

Honeycomb – A Mothpool Fanfiction
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“No, Leafpool. I don’t believe the spirits of our warrior ancestors come back to speak with us. Stars are just unseeing specks of light in the night sky, not dead cats looking down on us. We can keep our old friends alive with our memories, but if they’re not here, they’re nowhere. That’s what I believe. […] Because I believe in you, Leafpool.”
-Twilight, p.g. 102
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“You know we can’t.”
“Sure we can, Leafpool. Don’t you want this?”
“Of course, I do, Mothwing- But I can’t leave. Not again.” Leafpool looked up at the golden she-cat pleadingly, flicking her tail anxiously. Mothwing looked away, shifting her paws.
“I understand what happened with Cinderpelt really hurt you. I just… This time will be different. There are no badgers, no kitting mothers- it’s just us,” Mothwing mewed, touching her nose gently to the other she-cat’s cheek. Leafpool leaned into her, sighing. She smelled like honeycomb- the sweet scent seemed to cling to her pelt like cobwebs.
“I… I don’t know. What about Jayfeather? I can’t just leave him with all the responsibility. And Willowshine- what is she going to do without you?” she fretted. Mothwing gave her a gentle lap on the cheek.
“They’ll be just fine. They’re perfectly capable of taking care of their Clanmates. Besides, didn’t you tell me that Briarlight and Brightheart help out quite a bit in the medicine den? And Willowshine is the only medicine cat in RiverClan who believes in StarClan, anyway, so my Clan won’t exactly be losing much.” Her amber eyes glittered with amusement, but Leafpool’s eyes were grave. She kneaded the ground nervously, her mind racing. Yes, Brightheart and Briarlight had been a great help in the medicine den, but Jayfeather was more than just her fellow medicine cat. He was her son- and what about Squirrelflight? Lionblaze? She couldn’t just leave her family behind- not after everything she had gone through to prove herself to them again. But as she looked up at Mothwing, she couldn’t help but feel drawn to go with her- it was the same magnetic feeling she’d had ever since they’d first met at the Moonpool. It would be so simple, so easy- they could escape the weight of their pasts together, the wind in their fur. They could find another place to settle.
They could be happy.
“If we go, we can’t ever come back,” she whispered, her voice trembling slightly with uncertainty. Mothwing nodded, twining her tail in Leafpool’s. The brown-and-white she-cat looked over her shoulder at ThunderClan territory, her heart aching. She would be leaving so much of herself behind- was it worth it? She cast her gaze to the stars, hoping with bated breath for a sign- any sign- that would let her leave without the burden of regret on her shoulders. When nothing came, she pulled away from Mothwing’s comforting embrace, heavy with sorrow.
As she opened her jaws to speak, however, she found herself rendered silent at a beautiful sight- a moth, its beautiful cream-and-pink wings gleaming in the moonlight, fluttered through the air. It circled Mothwing’s ears for a moment, then flitted toward Leafpool, coming to a halt on her muzzle. Her eyes widened in awe as she watched the little creature draw its legs over its head, cleaning itself. It stayed there for a moment, then took to the air, dancing away on paper-thin wings until it disappeared into the distance. She watched it go, then turned back to Mothwing with a knowing smile. The golden she-cat gave her a confused look, tilting her head.
“Did you see it?” Leafpool mewed breathlessly. The golden she-cat looked puzzled, and Leafpool simply shook her head. “Nevermind. But… I’ve decided. I’ll go with you.”
“I don’t know what convinced you, but I’m glad,” Mothwing purred, touching noses with her. “Let’s leave tomorrow night- so that you have time to say goodbye.” Leafpool smiled gratefully, pressing her muzzle against hers for just a moment longer before stepping back.
“Thank you,” she whispered, her eyes glittering with joy. Reluctantly, they said their goodbyes, and Leafpool watched Mothwing pad away for a moment before turning to go herself.
As she padded through the forest towards the ThunderClan camp, she felt a soaring sensation of happiness.
She could get used to the sweet scent of honeycomb.

• RavenpawxBarley fanfic! (Minor spoilers/references to Greystripe’s Vow)

Amber

It’s been six moons since he left.
Seeing his silhouette disappear into the sunset, it broke my heart.
Everything feels so empty.
Nothing has a point anymore.
Life isn’t worth living without you, Ravenpaw.
Please come back to me.

“Barley?”
I looked up. Someone was standing over me.
I strained my vision, craning my neck to see against the glaring sunlight. “Ravenpaw?” My voice cracked. “Is it you?”
The cat shifted awkwardly. “No, Barley. It’s me, Monkeystar, leader of brave WarriorClan.”
I slumped back down, noticing the orange patches of the young she-cat. Disappointment rushed through me like a waterfall.
“Ravenpaw died moons ago,” a voice in my head rang.
“You need to accept it, and move on.”
But I can’t. Not until I have proof that he’s dead.
Monkeystar went on, her glass-green eyes filled with worry. “Are you okay? Who’s Ravenpaw?”
I shook my head, clearing my thoughts. “I’m fine. And Ravenpaw…” I paused, thinking of what to say to her. “Ravenpaw is someone I knew a long time ago.”
“Oh, okay.” The she-cat brightened up. “Can you tell me a story about the Clans please?”
I sighed, avoiding her hopeful gaze. “Not today, my dear. Sorry.”
She dipped her head in understanding, although I could see the reluctance in the way she moved. Monkeystar smiled, and mewed something else before walking out of the barn, but I didn’t hear it. I curled up in a ball and shut my eyes tight, the noises being drowned out by an overpowering silence.
All I could think about was the cat missing from my life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I opened my eyes.
I wasn’t in the barn.
I was standing in a river, surrounded by tall, lush green grass. The river lapped slowly at my legs, calming me.
And that’s when I saw it.
The night-black cat sitting further away in the grass, its long tail flicking, beckoning for me to come over.
No.
There’s no way.
It’s impossible.
I ran towards the dark cat, dripping with water.
It turned around. Two glistening green eyes appeared.
I gasped. “It can’t be…”
He dipped his head. “It is. I’ve missed you Barley.”
I rubbed my head against his, purring. “Oh, Ravenpaw!”
He laughed. “This is perfect.”
He’s right. It is perfect.
Too perfect.
I pulled away from him reluctantly. “This isn’t right.”
I noticed him stiffen. “Of course it is! Why wouldn’t it be?”
“You aren’t Ravenpaw.” I stumbled backwards blindly, hitting a rock. “Ravenpaw left.”
“Yes, and I came back,” he answered smoothly. “And now we can be together again.”
“No…” I took a deep breath. “I mean, Ravenpaw is…” I choked on the words, holding back tears.
“Say it!” the voice in my head screamed. “You know it’s true! So say it!”
I sobbed slightly. “Ravenpaw – my Ravenpaw – is dead.”
The tom flinched, and closed his eyes in pain. “Yes. Ravenpaw is dead. You are correct.”
My eyes were blazing with fury. “Who are you?”
He opened his eyes again.
I was expecting a flash of striking green.
Instead I was gazing into eyes of dark, vengeful amber.
• Can I join (Though I can’t promise it’ll be super good or anything…)
• Turtle, I’m going to write about Sandstorm x Firestar. Can I write about her fanon death? Like not her real death but her death, if she died in my version (I’m so srry I’m really bad at explaining)
• Someone You Loved (Jayfeather X Half Moon)
Theme Song For The Fanfiction: Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi
A lithe white shape slunk through the dense forest. Silver moonlight filtered through the leaves, and leaves crackled under the cat’s paws. She cringed once as she stepped on and snapped a twig, before stopping and listening carefully for any incoming pawsteps. It hadn’t been that loud, but one never could tell. Hearing nothing, she waited a minute before whisking it away with her fluffy white tail. She continued on, pausing to listen every few minutes, and stopped on a ridge overlooking the lake that the four Clans of cats shared. She sat down to wait for the cat she was meeting, watching the lake ripple and sparkle under the slowly rising sun. White flakes on snow fell from the sky, slowly covering the dusty earth. Bushes rustled behind her, and a skinny gray tabby tom emerged from them. His blue eyes flashed as he sat beside the she cat, fully by scent, not sight.
“I came. Now what are you doing here?” the blind gray tom hissed.
“I told you, Jayfeather, last time we met. That conversation isn’t finished.”
“And I told you. I can’t, Half-Moon.” Jayfeather paused and sighed, running a paw through the ever-thickening snow.
Half-Moon purred, though her tail flicked with a hint of annoyance. “Just as stubborn as ever, I see.”
Jayfeather turned his sightless blue eyes to her. “I love you. You know that. But I cannot abandon my Clan.”
Half-Moon stood, lashing her tail, her blazing emerald green eyes fixed on the tabby tom. “WHy can’t you admit that it was meant to be, Jayfeather?”
“How do I know it is?” he ran his claws over the thick wood on a nearby stick, feeling out the marks.
A flurry of snow suddenly flashed into view, obscuring his vision of everything else. Wait, I can see? Jayfeather braced himself. He knew what was coming.
“So, you’re leaving her, just like that? Again?” an all-too familiar voice sounded behind the gray tabby.
Jayfeather sighed, and resisted the urge to lash out at the cat. “What do you want from me, Rock? You just had to intervene, didn’t you?”
“Go on with it, Jayfeather. You know you want to go with her.” Rock mewed, gentler than Jayfeather had ever heard him.
“No! I can’t abandon my Clan!”
Rock’s eyes hardened. “Leafpool can do the medicine cat duties fine on her own.”
“No!” Jayfeather snapped, before sighing, looking defeated. “Wake me up.”
Rock nodded, and faded away, and Jayfeather found himself laying on his side, a twig poking uncomfortably into his ribs. He groaned and sat up, looking over at Half-Moon.
“If I go, Half-Moon, I can’t go back. You know that.” he whispered, touching his nose to hers.
“I know. But isn’t your future- our future, worth it?”
Jayfeather touched his nose to hers. “Yes. I’ll go, Half-Moon.”
Half-Moon purred and pressed her muzzle to his. “I’m glad.”
Jayfeather turned and padded down the ridge. “I’ll see you at dusk! At this spot!” he called over his shoulder.
“I’ll be here.” Half-Moon said softly, and sat down to watch the sun rise, staining the sky orange.
Jayfeather returned at dusk, as he had promised. He had spoken briefly to Leafpool, saying only that he was going out, not where or when he would be back.
As the tabby turned onto the ridge, beginning to climb carefully, his mind was reeling. Was it the right thing to do? Should he leave? He was leaving so much. He shook these thoughts off and continued up the rocks.
At the camp, Leafpool had a sneaking suspicion of what Jayfeather was up to. She followed him a ways, and when she saw him veer off to the left at the fork in the path, instead of the right, the way to the catmint (which is where she assumed he was headed), her suspicions were confirmed. She noticed a white shape on the peak of the jagged ridge, and turned, hurrying back to camp.
Jayfeather had reached the top of the ridge by this time, and was speaking to Half-Moon.
“Let’s go then.” he purred, but inside he was filled with uncertainty.
The two cats turned, and stopped, shocked at the edge of the ridge. Jayfeather looked down, and saw them all, his Clan, his family, waiting for him at the bottom. They stared up, Firestar, Leafpool, Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight, Lionblaze, Hollyleaf, and even Briarlight had dragged herself out of camp just to see him. Rock appeared on a tree branch.
“How can I see them?” Jayfeather whispered.
“Love. In your mind. You see the visions of their love, shaping into themselves in your mind.”
Jayfeather’s jaw dropped and he turned to Half-Moon. “I can’t-”
“I know.” she cut him off. “They came here just for you. Your place is with them, Jayfeather. I will miss you.”
Jayfeather touched his nose to hers, before turning and padding down the ridge towards his family.
Half Moon watched him go, a soft breeze ruffling her fur. A blue jay flew down from a tree and settled beside her.
The sun started to set, the day becoming night time, and the sky turned indigo.
“The day bleeds into nightfall, but you’re not here to walk with me through it all.” the white she-cat stared after the cats until Jayfeather was nothing but a dot on the horizon.
“I was getting kind of used to being someone you loved.”
• A canon ship is like, a ship that’s actually in the books. Two cats who actually were in love.
For example, Firestar X Sandstorm is canon. They really were mates, and they really were in love.
A non-canon ship is a ship that is not actually in the books. Two cats who weren’t actually in love.
For example, Firestar X Graystripe is non-canon. They were never mates, and they were never in love.
Get it? 🙂
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“We would have had wonderful kits together, just as strong and beautiful as you. And one day I’ll see you in StarClan.”
-Berrynose to Honeyfern

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Help me!” Honeyfern twitched and writhed in pain. “Help me! My blood is on fire! Help me, please! It hurts so much!”
Berrynose stared at Leafpool. “Do something! Somebody do something!”
Leafpool just stared down at honeyfern as she struggled to breathe.
Sorreltail slid out her claws, her disbelieving gaze fixed on the medicine cat. “Why aren’t you doing anything?”
Leafpool bowed her head. “Im sorry. There is nothing I can do. The venom has taken hold of her.”
Berrynose shook his head in disbelief. “No.. No! You can do something! You haven’t even tried anything! You are a disgrace to all medicine cats!” He ran into the part of the den where all the herbs are. He sniffed around quickly, and grabbed the snakeroot. He ran out to honey fern and applied it to the bite. “This has to work! It has to!”
Leafpool shook her head. “Berrynose, it won’t work..” Then Leafpool looked up quickly, as if she got an idea. “JayFeather, go get me tormentil! We can apply it to her wound, and it should extract the venom! Hurry though! We only have so much time, even if Berrynose saved us some time!
Jayfeather darted into the medicine den, and darted back within seconds with what must be tormentil. He started chewing it up, not waiting for Leafpool to ask for it, and applied it to her bite.
Honeyfern stopped twitching, and her sides stopped going up and down.
Berrynose filled with grief. He pressed his nose into her pelt. “No! We did everything! No!”
Sorreltail yowled in grief. She pressed her nose into Brackenfur’s pelt. “She can’t be gone. She and Molekit can’t be gone.” She murmured to Brackenfur.
Brackenfur rested his head on Sorreltail. “It will be ok…” He mumbled back.
Berrynose looked around realizing no one was going to do anything. He looked into Honeyfern’s eyes, and jumped back in surprise. They hadn’t clouded over yet! Does that mean there is still hope? “Leafpool! Why haven’t her eyes clouded over yet?Could that mean…?” He trailed off, hoping Leafpool would answer him.
Leafpool went around to the other side of Honeyfern, and gazed into her eyes. “Wait.. The herbs could be working!” She pressed her ear to Honeyfern’s side. She got up, her eyes gleaming, and turned to Berrynose. “She is still breathing, and her heart is still beating! It’s just so shallow we couldn’t tell. If the herbs are working, then she should be ok anytime now!”
Berrynose lept up in joy. “She is going to be ok!!” He felt like an eagle soaring through the sky! He pressed his nose into her pelt. “Oh Honeyfern! You are going to be ok!” He murmured to her.
All of a sudden Honeyfern started twitching. She closed her eyes and stopped moving again, although her breathing became stronger.
Berrynose started to panic, but calmed down when Sorreltail brushed against him. “She will be ok, won’t she?” He asked Sorreltail.
“I would trust Leafpool with my life, Berrynose. If she says that Honeyfern will be ok, then she will be ok.” She rasped her tongue over Berrynose’s ear, comforting him.
Honeyfern blinked her eyes open, and sat up on her side. She looked over at Berrynose, and the feeling of love washed over her. She watched as Berrynose rushed over to her and touched her nose. He licked her cheek and then her forehead.
Berrynose was filled with overwhelming joy. He pressed against her pelt, and rubbed his tail on her flank. He helped her get up and nodded at Leafpool who was nervously glancing at Honeyfern.
“Be careful with her will you?” Leafpool mewed to Berrynose.
He nodded, and guided her towards the warriors den. “Oh Honeyfern, what do you want to do now?” He pressed against her affectionately. He guided her to the very back and darkest part of the den, and let her lay down. He laid down right next to her.
“Well, first I need to ask Leafpool a question. Do you mind getting her for me?” She batted her eyes at him.
Berrynose sighed and walked out towards Leafpool. “Leafpool, Honeyfern needs you. She’s in the warriors den.”
“I understand. I believe I know what she wants.” She mewed calmly.
Berrynose nodded and walked back to Honeyfern with Leafpool. He curled around Honeyfern, giving Leafpool almost no room. He looked up at Leafpool, who was glaring at him, and sighed. He uncurled, but still  layed next to her.
Honeyfern flicked her tail happily and looked up at Leafpool. “Will my kits be injured from the venom?”
Berrynose looked at Honeyfern. “You’re.. You’re expecting kits?” He looked up at Leafpool, then back down again. “My kits?”
Honeyfern looked at Berrynose, and twined her tail in his. “No.. They are Thornclaws.”
Berrynose was horrified, and sat straight up. “What?!?”
Leafpool and Honeyfern both laughed. “No, they are yours, Berrynose.” Honeyfern mewed, twitching her whiskers in amusement.
“Haha, very funny! But, you’re really expecting kits?” Berrynose felt excitement and joy boil up within him. “I- Im going to be a father?”
“Yes, you are. Now I need to check for signs of life.” Leafpool mewed harshly. Leafpool prodded Honeyfern’s stomach. Leafpool’s expression darkened, then lit back up.
“Well?” Berrynose asked harshly.
“You have 4 healthy kits, waiting for arrival” Leafpool mewed happily.
Berrynose lept up again in excitement. “Oh Honeyfern! They are going to look just like you!
Honeyfern smiled. “They are going to look like both of us. Now, I want to get some sleep.” She curled up and quickly fell asleep.
Berrynose layed down, and curled around her. He looked up at Leafpool and thanked her.
“You helped Berrynose. You saved her.” Leafpool mewed, praising him.
He smiled at her, and then rested his head on Honeyfern. He watched Leafpool exit the den, and he sighed happily, quickly falling asleep.
13 Moons Later…
Chestnutkit pounced on Spottedkit. “Haha! I got you!”
Spottedkit rolled over, squishing Chestnutkit. “Ha!”
Chestnutkit squirmed away, and darted over to CoralKit and Beaverkit. “Ready for the ceremony? It’s happening soon-” All of a sudden, he was interrupted by a loud yowl. It was Firestar!
“Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather around the high rock for a clan meeting!” Firestar yowled.
“Oo! It’s right now!” Coral kit squeaked. All four of them ran to the highrock and waited to be mentored!
(Also if the spoiler box doesn’t work, this is my first time using it!)
• “No. . .they are Thornclaw’s.” XD
Plot twist. . . THEY ARE ACTUALLY THORNCLAW’S KITS!!!!!!!
• I wrote mine but in the comments below. Not the comments to this but you know what i mean! :3
• Here is my story but it’s another one cuz my other one didn’t send for some reason. It’s a different ship though. I’m doing JayXHalf. It’s not the exact same story, but it has some of the same parts as my other one that didn’t send correctly.
The sky was painted with orange and pink as Jayfeather ran towards the shore.
“Stick, stick, stick where are you?” He wanted to go back to Half Moon. He loved her but couldn’t tell her. Or at least couldn’t tell her as Jayfeather. He saw his scarred stick at the foot of a birch.
“There you are!” Jayfeather but his paws on the stick, closed his sightless blue eyes and pressed his nose on a scar. When he opened his eyes, he found himself at the entrance of the Tribe Of Rushing Water’s cave. He ran inside looking around. Everyone was sleeping in there nest, so he tried to keep quiet. He made his way to the back of the cave where the Stoneteller’s nest was. He saw Half Moon’s glowing white pelt. Her ears twitched and she lifted her head. She blinked sleep out of her eyes.
“J-Jay’s Wing? Jay’s Wing!” Her bright green eyes were now wide.
“Half- Stoneteller!” Jayfeather exclaimed.
“Please, call me Half Moon. I’m not very fond of the idea of tribe names.” she replied. Jayfeather nodded. Jayfeather’s paws itched. Please don’t ask where i’ve been. Please StarClan! he thought.
Half Moon gestured with her tail for him to sit. Jayfeather purred so loud, he could barely hear the river running. Half Moon started to groom his pelt. “I’ve missed you a lot. I’ve been kinda lonely without-” before she finished, a black pelt jumped into the den. “I deserve to be Stoneteller. Half Moon, prepare to die.” the strange cat snarled. “Who are you?”Jayfeather sprung to his paws. “That’s none of your concern, kit!” the newcomer spat. Half Moon said nothing but she started lashing out with her paws. Jayfeather joined her. “I wasn’t expecting to fight two cats.” muttered the black cat. Half Moon shoved the cat’s face in the moonlight. “Who are you?” she hissed. “I’m Moss That Lies On Rock. I was born here about 13 moons ago. I left as a kit. Did you not notice?” she growled. Half Moon stared at her in disbelief, but kept her claws on her throat. The black she-cat couldn’t breath. “P-please. . .stop!” she breathed out. “No, fox heart. Why would you ever leave?” Moss didn’t respond. “Eat dirt, mouse-brain!” Jayfeather spat. He kicked gravel and dirt on the new cat. Moss wriggled underneath Half Moon’s grip, growling, then she started pelting towards a hole on the roof. Jayfeather swung his paw but he missed and Moss escaped. He fell. But he didn’t just fall, he fell on Half Moon. “I-I-”
“I love you Jay’s Wing. Don’t ever leave me again.” Half Moon finished for him. Jayfeather shut his eyes and after a moment’s thinking, he meowed, “Of course my love. I’ll never let you out of my sight.” Part of him disagreed. He licked Half Moon’s cheek and nuzzled her ear with his jaw. They both curled up in the nest and fell asleep together.
I hope you like it!
• Here’s my entry!
Word count: exactly 1000! 😛
Loyal as a Lion and Sweet as Honey
        Honeypaw’s eyes shone like puddles on the other side of the den as she opened them.
        Lionpaw growled under his breath. Sneaking out would be even harder with her watching.
        Her eyes closed. Lionpaw quickly slipped out of the den and into the night outside.
        Quietly, he pelted towards the WindClan border.
        “Hey!” Heatherpaw padded up to him.
        “Hi, Heatherpaw!” Lionpaw purred loudly.
        The bushes behind them rustled.
        Lionpaw bristled- was he caught?
        Honeypaw padded out from the bushes, hurt filling her gaze as she looked from Lionpaw to Heatherpaw.
        “What are you doing here?” Lionpaw hissed, then turned to Heatherpaw, “Sorry. I guess we’ll have to meet another time.”
        “Why’d you have to come spy on me?” Lionpaw growled at Honeypaw as they padded back to camp.
        “I-I’m sorry,” Honeypaw stammered, “I just wanted to-”
        “What were you two doing out of camp?” Birchfall called from the entrance. “Lionpaw? Again? This wasn’t the first time.”
        Breaking off, Honeypaw dashed towards Birchfall.
        Lionpaw winced, realizing she was probably about to tell on him.
        “I was there for the whole thing,” she yowled, “Lionpaw didn’t do anything bad!”
        Lionpaw looked up with a start. Was she really sticking up for him?
        Lionpaw curled up in his nest, Honeypaw padding into the den after him.
        “You would really… lie for me?” he mewed.
        “I didn’t lie,” she murmured, “You can’t help who you love.” Pain flashed in her eyes. “Trust me, I know.”
***
          “Hollypaw, you will hunt by the Sky Oak,” Brackenfur was telling the apprentices where they would hunt, “and Honeypaw by the abandoned twoleg nest.”
        “I don’t want to go near the twoleg nest!” Honeypaw wailed, “It’s creepy!”
        Lionpaw snorted, then instantly felt guilty, remembering how she stood up for him last night.
        “I’ll go with her,” he offered awkwardly, and Honeypaw blinked gratefully at him.
        Having finished the hunt, the apprentices padded back to camp.
        Working together they had managed to catch a large mouse and Lionpaw found that they made a pretty good team.
        “Bet I’ll get to camp first!” Honeypaw challenged and raced ahead, her tail waving in the breeze.
        Lionpaw ran after her, surprised at how swift she was.
        She bounded lightly over stones and bushes.
        Pushing himself to run faster, Lionpaw barely managed to overtake her and slid to a halt in camp, Honeypaw dashing in after him.
        “You won!” she purred lightly, “Congrats!”
           Lionpaw smiled. He had always seen Honeypaw as awkward and whiny, but once he got to know her she was so much more than that. She was spirited, fun, and a good friend to have.
***
        Lionblaze’s fur prickled when he looked at Honeyfern. Back when they were apprentices it would have been from frustration, but he felt very differently now. He couldn’t get enough of her, his feelings overwhelming him, almost sweeping him off his paws.
        As he watched her, he saw Honeyfern’s ears prick up abruptly.
        Following her gaze he saw a snake near Briarkit, about to strike.
        Terror filled him as he saw Honeyfern ready to pounce. He knew the selfless warrior would sacrifice herself to save the kit.
        He couldn’t let her! He couldn’t lose her! He ran towards the snake.
        Seeing Honeyfern swiftly leap, Lionblaze pushed himself to run faster. He just barely managed to overtake her, and the snake bit him before slithering away.
        Panting with shock and relief, Lionblaze collapsed on the stone beneath him.
        Around him, cats were staring in panic.
        Honeyfern dashed up to him, distress in her expression.
        Lionblaze lifted his head. He had to tell her- to comfort her!
        “It’s okay, Honeyfern,” he whispered, making sure no other cat heard, “I can’t get hurt.”
        Honeyfern’s eyes widened as he told her about the prophecy and his power.
        “I don’t understand, but I believe you.” She murmured, pressing her face into his fur, “And I’m glad you’re okay.”
***
        Lionblaze padded through the forest, looking for Honeyfern. Although hesitation weighed down his paws, he needed to express his feelings to her.
        He spotted the tabby among the bushes.
        “Honeyfern!” he called.
        The mouse Honeyfern had been stalking skittered away with a squeak.
        “Sorry,” Lionblaze muttered.
        “Don’t be,” Honeyfern mewed lightly, trotting up to him, “What did you want to tell me?”
        “Let’s go someplace quiet.”
        The two cats walked up the hill, a gentle breeze sweeping through their fur.
        Lionblaze sat down next to Honeyfern.
        “Honeyfern,” he mewed softly, “You’re very special to me, and I wanted to ask you…” he met her gaze, “Will you be my mate?”
        Honeyfern stared back at him for a moment, her ears pricked in surprise, then let out a joyful yowl.
        “Yes!” she cried, her voice coming out as both a purr and a mew, “Yes, of course! I love you!”
         Lionblaze pressed against her, relaxing as they watched the scarlet sunset together.
***
        Pain overtaking him, Lionblaze sat at his sister’s vigil, huddled against the cold breeze. If only he could have stopped her from running into the tunnels! He let out a whimper.
        Honeyfern padded up to him, silently comforting him as she sat by his side, stroking his flank with her tail.
        A lump formed in Lionblaze’s throat as his mate’s touch warmed him. “I miss Hollyleaf so much!” he choked out.
        “I know, my love,” Honeyfern murmured, gently lapping at his cheek, “I understand.”
***
        “They’re beautiful!” Lionblaze murmured, nuzzling Honeyfern. Three tiny kits squirmed at her belly.
        He gazed joyfully at his daughters.
        “Have you named them?”
        Honeyfern nodded, purring with love for their kits.
        “This is Rainkit, and the little one is Ivykit,” she pointed to a gray she-kit with eyes as blue as her mother’s, then to a tiny brown one.
        She stroked Lionblaze’s paw with her tail as she motioned towards the fluffy tabby she-kit. “And this is Hollykit,” she mewed gently, looking up at him with love, “After your sister.”
        Honeyfern’s blue eyes shone like the lake at dawn as she met his gaze. Lionblaze let out a purr.
• Fireheart’s Forbidden Love by Frecklefern
———————————————————
Fireheart looked up at the beautiful sky. The leaves, as auburn as they get, gently fluttered down, twirling in the leaf-fall wind. One landed in the river, and Fireheart, heart lifted by nature, followed. He reached a bend in the river, and across from him, he saw the most beautiful she-cat he’d never imagined. He watched her slowly pad into the water, soaking her gorgeous pelt. She returned with a minnow in her mouth, her long fur shining like the sun.
“Hello,” Fireheart chirped.
The silver cat dropped the fish in shock. If flopped back into the current, but she didn’t care. Back arched, she hissed, with clenched teeth, “What are you doing here, kittypet? This isn’t a place for kits!”
“I’m Fireheart, and I just wanna know you name.”
“Silverstream,” she growled. “Now skedaddle.”
“Okay,” Fireheart smiled. “See you soon!”
“Not,” Silverstream huffed, diving for another fish.
A couple days later, Fireheart couldn’t stand it anymore. He needed to see Silverstream again.
So Fireheart concocted a plan. He went to the same, shimmering and fish-full spot, knowing that Silverstream would surely come. He soon saw her approach and flailed around, quite horribly and unrealistically pretending to drown.
Silverstream sighed, “Uh… what are you doing?”
“Um, dr-drowning?”
“Can’t you drown in your own territory?”
“Ah, but who’d save me there?”
“I don’t know, your Clan mates?”
“But you’re a better choice!”
The two bickered restlessly, until Fireheart said, “So, you come here often, eh? Nice spot… I can see why you like it!”
“It’s my fishing spot. Where I fish. For fish.”
“I’ve never had a fish before, may I try one?”
“I’m gonna regret this,” Silverstream grumbled, diving into the rushing currents. She surfaced with the tiniest fish Fireheart had ever seen.
“I am so breaking the Code right now. Here.” She kicked the tiny neon fish at Fireheart, who willingly took a bite.
“Delicious! But not as good as squirrel.”
“Is that an insult?”
“No way!”
After they parted, Fireheart knew he was in love.
—————————————————————
Moons later, Fireheart was in that same spot, watching his mate die on the glittering rocks. Her two wriggling kits squealed, wanting milk.
“Silverstream,” Fireheart panted. “Please, don’t go. Let us name our kits.”
” This one… is Blazekit, named after… you.”
“And this one is Stripekit, for you.”
“Thank you, my love…” Silverstream nuzzled Fireheart, who watched in sadness as she closed her eyes, never opening them again.
“No!” Fireheart cried. He scooped up his kits and returned to his Clan, who accepted his crime. Bluestar understood, saying she knew the pain. Fireheart nodded.
—————————————————————
Firestar, asleep, saw the stars wiggle. He watched his old mate, Silverstream, appear from Silverpelt to stand before him.
“There will be three,” she said. “Kin of our kin. They will hold the stars in their paws.”
“Okay, my love,” Fireheart choked, tears welling in his green eyes. Silverstream nuzzled him, and, with the soft words, “Goodbye, my love. Till next we meet,” she vanished, leaving Firestar alone in the dark.
————————————————————
Blazestream nodded at her three kits, Silverkit, Stormkit, and Waterkit. It had been moons since her brother, Stripeheart, had sacrificed himself to save the Tribe of Rushing Water from a mountain lion. He was such a good sibling…
Silverkit was born blind, but she could see in her dreams. Stormkit was so strong, as if he could never be beat. And Waterkit, she had super senses. She could see and hear things that were far.
Blazestream looked at her kits. Her father once told her a prophecy from her mother, and these kits were it…
——————————————————-
Firestar was crushed by a tree. Slowly, he watched himself die. Then, he saw his escort to StarClan. Savior who took him away from the Great Battle. His love.
He saw Silverstream.
She led him to the stars, were Firestar was reunited with his mate and son, and soon, he’d have his whole family here with him.
• It’s ok, there will be another one soon, I’m sure! 🙂
And if I find a secret page (or figure out how to get one 😛 ) then I’d like to hold a short story contest too! 😀
• i don’t care if it isn’t what happens in the books.
MOONLIGHT
Birds fluttered  about in the branches above them and the sun dipped behind the crimson line of the horizon, painting the sky deep shades of orange and pink and red. A few rebel stars dotted the sky and Fernsong wondered whether one was Ferncloud, the she-cat who he was named after.
He turned around to look at Ivypool, remembering what he had wanted to say. Why he had wanted to come here.
Fernsong gazed warmly at the brave she-cat and his heart swelled with love. He felt light and dizzy.
He knew what he needed to ask but he dreaded the answer he would probably get.
I just want to be friends, and nothing else. No! He pushed the terrible thought out of his head and prepared himself for what knew he had to do.
A soft breeze rustled the leaves and Ivypool brushed against Fernsong, who wondered if it was by accident. He was about to find out.
The silver and white she-cat purred and Fernsong knew  there won’t ever be a better time than this.
He took a deep breath,blinking  affectionately at Ivypool.
“I  love you, a lot, and I  really want to be your mate and someday  maybe even have kits with you.” he blurted out , waiting for the answer he dreaded he would get.
“Really?” Ivypool asked quietly.
“Really.”
“I love you too,”her sapphire blue eyes shone as the sun sank beneath the horizon and the sky turned dark, the only light coming from the moon and stars.
Fernsong felt his heart skip a beat.  She really did love him. She loved him.
“You do?” he needed to make sure it was true, that he wasn’t just dreaming.
“Of course I do, mouse-brain,” Ivypool purred affectionately.
“Mouse-brain yourself,”Fernsong purred back.
Fernsong purred even louder , unable to put his pure joy and love and happiness into any words.
Ivpool nuzzled him and, forgetting about prey, they raced side by side together , through the forest, the leaves on the trees glowing as silver as Ivypool’s pelt in the moonlight,back towards the  Thunderclan camp. Back towards their home.
• Love Admitted
By Nightpaw/wish
Jayfeather could hear the quick beating of his own heart as he stared down into the depths of the blue lake. Even before he knew he was doing it, he slipped into the water, flailing his paws quickly. He didn’t care if his fur got wet, he didn’t care if he drowned. There was one thing on his mind. . . and it was getting the love of his life.
He swam in deeper and deeper, and even as his lungs screamed for air he kept going in. He searched and searched for his beauty and finally, just as he felt like he was going to fall into darkness, he found it.
The bits and pieces of the most beautiful thing in the world.
Feeling like the world was collapsing, he burst out of the water and fell to the ground. “I’m so sorry!” he wailed. “I truly do love you. Please come back, please be with me again. I don’t want to see your pieces of love in front of me, I want you as a whole. I want you and I want to feel your love again. Without you my life is meaningless!!”
Jayfeather’s sightless blue eyes showed more emotion than one cat could ever feel in his entire life. He truly did know how to love, and he knew that this was the only thing that could see below his anger and bitterness.
As he sobbed, and lay his head down on his love’s pieces, he felt a shimmer of light fall on him. Looking up, he saw his love staring back at him with a gaze more promising than an angel’s last wish. And to his astonishment, his love changed before him and returned to the beautiful shape it had once been. And falling down to his paws, his love vowed to never leave him again. Jayfeather looked down, and brushing his cheek to the one he had always known, he knew that even death could not stop his love.
His voice was earnest and promising, and even ones not within reach could hear the love in his mew as he yowled, “I’ve never loved anyone as much as you and I know that I’ll never love like this again. You’re the best and you’re the only thing I stand for. I want to be with you forever and I’ll never leave you again, and even when I die I’ll walk besides you and I’ll walk for you. I love you so much, dear Stick, and you are my love, my world, my everything!!”
A Featherxcrow short story
By Mountainpaw
It was twilight. The dawning sky was turning bright pink, but the full silver moon still shone bright in the night, speckling the ground with dappled moonlight. Crowfeather and Feathertail padded side by side, their breath milky mist in the cold morning air. But they were both warmed, warmed by their love that would never end. Crowfeather glanced at Feathertail. She was very scarred from the time she killed Sharptooth. She was deaf to one ear, and thin, pearly white scars twisted through her silver fur, making her look very different compared to the beautiful cat she was once. Crowfeather still loved her with all his heart. Feathertail had fallen into a deep sleep, a coma. They had to go back to the forest without her, but on the way back….when they stopped by the cave… and she was awake and waiting for him… Crowfeather purred at the inexpressible joy he had felt then. He had even chosen his warrior name after her, before they went back to the tribe of rushing water, and to find that she was alive was beyond the joy of a normal cat. And now, they had padded away from clan territories, taking a stroll in the forest.
“Have a hairball stuck in your throat?” Feathertail teased sarcastically, for Crowfeather could not stop purring. She rasped her tongue over his ear, and Crowfeather closed his eyes, enjoying the moment. When he opened his eyes, Feathertail was smiling at him, her feather-soft fur bathed in the shine of the shimmering stars. She lay down on her back, and Crowfeather joined her, and they gazed at the fading stars and moon, watching as the streak that was silverpelt blended away into the light of the rising sun.
“Have you heard that Squirrelflight had kits?” Feathertail asked.
“No! What are their names?”
“Jaykit, Hollykit, and Lionkit,” Feathertail answered. She purred. “They are wonderful names!”
“Is Brambleclaw the father?” Crowfeather remembered how close the two cats had grown on their quest.
“Yes, he is.” Feathertail paused. “How is Breezekit doing?”
“He’s doing fine,” Crowfeather muttered.
They were quiet for a moment, staring at the stars that sprayed the sky like a splash of water.
“That star pattern, over there, it looks like a crow,” Feathertail whispered, pointing with one silver paw toward a constellation.
“That one looks like a heart, and the one over there…it looks like a feather,” Crowfeather whispered. They looked at each other, purring, their eyes deep pools of love that will and would never end, even if the stars disappeared from the sky.
“That one looks like a serpent,” Crowfeather said, snapping his gaze back on the stars of Silverpelt.
“And that one looks like a queen,” Feathertail added.
It took Crowfeather a few minutes for what Feathertail had just said to sink in.
“A queen?”  he asked.
“It just struck me because I’m one…”
“WHAT?”
She got to her paws, purring with pleasure. “I’m carrying your kits, Crowfeather,”
The icy shock that swamped over Crowfeather melted, causing a tidal wave of joy that wanted to explode out of him.
“Feathertail! Oh, Feathertail!” he nuzzled her fur, purring so loud that it could have woken all the clans.
The last stick splintered between Feathertail’s teeth. She flexed her claws in and out, gasping for air as her flank heaved. Then it was all washed away. She took great gulps of the air, thanking StarClan. Crowfeather dropped one kit to her, then sat back, a worried expression on his face. Feathertail forced herself to sit up, and started licking the kit the wrong way, until she was fluffed up like a ball of cotton. The kit mewed, and started drinking her mother’s milk. Feathertail curled up around her, love pulsing through her veins. Crowfeather settled down in front of her, and twined his tail around hers.
“You were great. And our kit is perfect,” he purred.
They had just met for another moonlight stroll together, when Feathertail had started her kitting. But it went well, and now a little bundle of fur and fangs lay between them, drinking her mother’s milk like it hadn’t eaten for moons.
“Crowfeather? What will our warrior ancestors think?” She whispered, glancing at the twilit sky.
“They will be proud that RiverClan has such a wonderful warrior,” Crowfeather answered, his voice brimming with sorrow. He would never see his kit grow up, he would never hunt side by side with her.
“You’ll see her at gathering. I’ll tell her tales about what a wonderful warrior you are. I’ll make sure she will respect you like kin. Reedwhisker will be a good father for her. Don’t you worry about a thing,” Feathertail purred.
Crowfeather’s eyes clouded with love.
“What should we call her?” He choked.
“I’d like to call her Fathomkit,” Feathertail whispered. “Her pelt is the color of a moon bathed lake, and I want her to know that our love for her is fathomless. I want her to know that StarClan will be watching over her, no matter if she’s half-Clan. And StarClan is more powerful than a bottomless lake,”
“It’s perfect. Fathomkit.”
And they lay, purring, and they knew, the stars could crash, the ground could shake, the Clans could fight, but their love would never end.
• This is so cute! Crowfeather be having kits with everyone! XD
• Thank you! I guess he has kits everywhere now. Though I was thinking Leafpool had Jayfeather, Hollyleaf, and Lionblaze with someone else. 😀
• ¨and that one looks like a queen.¨ It took Crowfeather a few minutes for what feathertail said to sink in¨
why is this so oblivious crowfeather though
that part was hilarious to me
• I’m glad! I was aiming for that! 😛
(Trying to make it as much like Crowfeather as it could be!)
• Here’s my PebblexHawk story!
Hope
“Pebbleshine!” Hawkwing cried. “Get down from there! Now.”
Pebbleshine grunted as she sliced her paw on the latch. “No,” she hissed. “I’ve almost got it. Just a few moments more…”
Suddenly, the a low rumble, loud as thunder, sounded around Pebbleshine, and the earth lurched beneath her. She was thrown off her feet and hit the floor of the monster with a sickening thud. Her ears rang as she lifted her head, and the world swam before her eyes. That’s strange… she thought. Why is there shouting? She thought she could make out Hawkwing’s voice, desperately calling her name, but it seemed to get farther and farther away as the monser– Pebbleshine snapped back to her senses. The monster was moving. She scrambled to her paws. “Hawkwing!” she screamed. “Help me!” There! She saw him! His amber eyes were filled with anguish and his jaws were parted as he yowled something she couldn’t hear. Panic flooded through her and her heart beat in her throat. Blood roared in her ears as the monster jerked over a bump, and she was thrown back down. “No…” she whimpered. “Please.” How had she been so stupid? She and Hawkwing were supposed to be happy and raise their kits together! Now she would never see him again, and the once-certain future was gone, evaporating like mist. A tear slid down her face, and that was all it took. Violent sobs shook her body as the faces of her loved ones flashed before her eyes. Tinycloud, Sparrowpelt, Parsleyseed… and Hawkwing. Oh, Hawkwing. She loved him so much! I’m sorry, my love. I’m sorry I was so reckless. I promise our kits will be raised hearing all about you. They will always know who their father is, and if StarClan allows, we will be together one day.
If only he could have heard her.
“Pebbleshine, you can do it!” She imagined Hawkwing’s voice, comforting in her ear.
Pain ripped through her. “No!” she wailed. “I can’t! I’m sorry, I can’t!”
Hawkwing’s eyes glowed in the shadows, and it was as if he was really there. “I believe in you, Pebbleshine,” he breathed. “I know you can do this, because you are the strongest cat I know.”
Pebbleshine pushed one last time, and the second kit was born. She sobbed so hard she couldn’t breathe, emotions pulsing through her veins. Love. Fierce, powerful love. The worst agony, knowing that Hawkwing was just an allusion. That she would never see him ever again in this lifetime. She looked down at her two kits, wondering if she would even live long enough to see them again. The thought sent terror jolting in her heart like lightning. She had to fight. She had to stay alive. Not just for her kits, but for Hawkwing. Pebbleshine let her gaze fall to her daughters. One was black and white, and the other was a gray tabby. Just like Hawkwing. I will name her Skykit, after the Clan that I love. The Clan her father is still fighting for. Looking at the black and white kit, she knew instantly what to name her. Duskkit. Duskkit, after Hawkwing’s brother. She knew if he was there with her, that was the name he would have picked.
Pebbleshine woke the next morning to sunlight streaming into the damp tunnel under the Thunderpath. Monsters roared above her, and she shuddered, pulling Duskkit and Skykit closer to her. She had to get them out of there, but how? Hunger pangs hit her belly hard, reminding her how desperately she needed to hunt. No. She needed to hold off as long as possible, until she was strong enough to be sure she wouldn’t get hit by a monster. Exhaustion washed over her, and Pebbleshine succumbed to a tortured sleep.
The next time Pebbleshine woke, it was to voices. Hope sparked in her for the first time since she lost Hawkwing, and snapped her head up. “Help me!” she tried to cry out, but her voice was so hoarse that hardly any sound came out. The voices faded, and tears sprang to her eyes. Her only hope was slipping away from her right before her eyes. No no no! “Help!” Her voice cracked and she tried to stumble to her paws, but was too weak. “Help me please!”
Pebbleshine’s heart raced as the voices once again grew closer.
“Is someone down there?”
Pebbleshine’s spirits soared. “Yes!” she called. “I have kits, please help me!”
A dark ginger tom climbed into the tunnel, followed by a pale gray she-cat with striking green eyes.
“Needlepaw, look at her,” the tom whispered. “Should we take her back to the Clans?”
Pebbleshine could hardly believe her ears. “You… you’re Clan cats?”
Needlepaw eyed her suspiciously. “Yes. I’m from ShadowClan, and Alderpaw is from ThunderClan. Why?”
Pebbleshine found the strength to rise to her paws. “Because I’m a Clan cat, too. My name is Pebbleshine, and I’m a SkyClan cat.”
Moons passed. Pebbleshine waited quietly for SkyClan to return, though her hopes were dimming slowly. Skypaw and Duskpaw were apprentices, almost warriors. Times were dark, but the Clans were sticking together, clinging to the hope of finding SkyClan.
Shocked voices rose outside the warriors den, and Pebbleshine stepped outside, blinking at the bright sun.
That’s when she saw it.
The gray tabby tom, standing in a cluster of cats, looking shocked and confused. His amber eyes met hers, and Pebbleshine’s heart burst like stars on fire. She let out a long breath, and bounded over to the cat she knew as well as her own shadow.
“Hawkwing!”
