Splashes the three Moon old kit hid in her den she shared with her mother (who doesn’t exist rn) because she knew soon she’d be thrown into the river
Stream padded over to Splashes, and dropped a fish at her paws.
“Eat, little one,” she mewed, “You’ll need your strength for when you get thrown into the River.”
Splashes nodded and took a bite of the fish, “Why do I even have to be thrown into the River?” She asked quietly, then took another bite.
“I don’t know, honey,” she responded.
Wreath walked in, having overheard the question and response. “It’s a tradition. One day, when a kit turned 3 cycles and we didn’t throw them into the river, storms wracked our land, and the river flooded. The Sky group had sent these to punish us for what we had done. That is why we must throw kits into the river.” She finished, out of breath. Feather walked up behind her. “Oh my, was it crazy back then!”
Splashes looked up at Wreath and quivered, I’m scared!

Ember padded into Splashes’s den, a somewhat smug expression on his face. He knew that soon, Splashes would be thrown into the river to see if they were worthy maybe after she won’t be such a scaredy mouse. he thought to himself as he approached her,
“Hey, Splashed! I heard you’re going to be thrown in the river soon.” The black tom said in a falsely innocent tone, grooming his orange paw “I’m sure you’ll be fine…unless a wave pulls you under, “
Splashes shivered and sunk lower into the ground.
“She’ll be fine!” Stream snapped.
“I was just joking,Stream!” Ember hissed before giving Splashed a gentle nudge ,”I’m not even as good as a swimmer as you, and look at me! I survived the river, no problem!”
He hoped Stream would not bring up the fact that he was crying,wailing and howling the entire time, even before he touched the water.
“Aren’t you too proud?” Stream sneered, “But of course, they all forget how you were wailing before you were thrown into the river. I, on the other paw, was not scared at could swim!”
