Five ships I love that you probably don’t by Brightberry

So it turns out that I ship some pretty unpopular pairings in this fandom. Hoo boy…
If you don’t like these pairings, that is fine, but please do not get mad at me if that is the case. This is just my silly personal opinion 😛 They also aren’t really in any particular order

Number 5: Dovewing x Bumblestripe
This pairing sort of reminds me of Raoul and Christine from Phantom of the Opera, which I also ship hardcore. Bumblestripe may not be as interesting as Tigerheart, but he’s also not as dangerous. He’s not as risky. He’s not forbidden. He’s safe and comfortable, and I think Dovewing deserves to be safe and comfortable.

Number 4: Blossomfall x Thornclaw
Yes, it is sort of random, and there is a huge age gap. But sometimes, love doesn’t make sense. This ship reminds me of some of the odd joke-pairings I used to get into, and the fact that it came from right the heck out of nowhere just makes me love it more. Also, age gaps aren’t that big of a deal in Warriors- no one complains about Pinestar and Leopardfoot,or Dustpelt and Ferncloud having huge age gaps. My uncle and aunt were born ten years apart, but they were very much in love!

Number 3: Yellowfang x Raggedstar
This pairing was so much better before Yellowfang’s Secret came out. I miss the good old days, of YellowRagged, back before we knew how manipulative Raggedstar really was. I even wrote a one-shot fanfic where he welcomes her into StarClan 😛

Number 2: Appledusk and Reedshine
No, I don’t think it was fair that Appledusk did that to Mapleshade. But think how Reedshine must have felt, knowing that her mate had been sneaking around behind her back. On the plus side, Appledusk, unlike Dovewing, made the right choice, the safe choice.

Number 1: Firestar and Spottedleaf

Alright, alright. I know this pairing isn’t as popular as it used to be. And I know a lot of you are going to assume that I hate Sandstorm.
The truth is, I don’t. But I also don’t know if she was right for Firestar.
I know what you’re thinking: What? How could she not be?
The truth is, Sandstorm started off being mean to him- she teased him for being a kittypet! Can you imagine falling in love with someone who makes fun of you for something that isn’t even your fault? I know I’d never marry anyone who mocks me for being autistic! It’s true that she did grow past that, but considering that it’s a metaphor for discrimination, it just seems a little too forgiving of Firestar.
Spottedleaf, meanwhile, was always kind to Firepaw from the very beginning. It’s true, there was a significant age gap, but I already mentioned before that age gaps don’t matter too much in Warriors. Remember Dustpelt and Ferncloud?

I don’t hate FirexSand. But I do think that maybe, just maybe, Firestar deserved better than a girl who made fun of him for something he couldn’t help.
Obviously, Firespotted would never work while Spottedleaf was alive. She was too committed to being a medicine cat. But I do think that she should have at least been given the chance to welcome him into StarClan. They wouldn’t even necessarily have to become mates there- just seeing them enjoy each other’s company would have been enough for me.
