Almondpaw recounts the history of ThunderClan.
Hewo everybody! My name is Almondpaw/Almondears and I am super excited to tell you what I know about the history of the Clans! We all know (sorta!) how the warrior code came to be and how the Clans formed, as it was all said in Dawn of the Clans. If you have not read that series then it has to be on your Must List. Let’s take a look at the first Clan leaders:
Thunderstar, Shadowstar, Windstar, and Riverstar. They started the Warrior Code! I would love to be that important, but I am stuck on apprentices’ duties for now :3
The importance of leaders have made a great effect on the Clans, whether good or bad. It takes effort to make it into this position, the first cats of the Clans must have had a super hard time getting used to Clan life as we all know. But what happened first? How did they chose leaders?
In some Warriors books it says kittypets and loners gathered together to form the Warrior Code and went to live with cats that liked the same things as themselves; for example, cats who liked to fish stayed near the river with other cats who liked to fish and live near the river. In Dawn of the Clans however, kittypets and loners did not join together, the mountain cats came, settled, and formed the Clans. Though a few loners did join them, these really are different theories.
The mountain cats did not really chose their leaders, a cat who wanted to lead would just stand up and take over leadership. For example after Moon Shadow died while trying to cross the thunderpath to the new land Tall Shadow takes over, and everybody steps back and lets her lead them. After a while though, the cats start to want a new leader who is Grey Wing, instead of choosing themselves they would rather have someone else. Which adds to the confusion. At first before having granted nine lives, only cats born with an act of leadership would become leaders and run their own territories. For example; Windrunner decided she wanted leadership, so she left the hollow and started up her own. Just like that. Yikes!
With the birth of the Warrior Code there also came the thought of deputies. This helped the cats have confidence in their leader, knowing that he/she was trustworthy and had earned her place by being a deputy, and being a pre-leader if you know what I mean. Getting cats ready for the challenge of leadership by being a deputy not only was great idea, but it helped take the weight of duty off the leader’s shoulder.
So, now that we are a bit more settled with the history of leaders and deputies, here is a list of all the Thunderclan leaders.
