If you know me pretty well, you know that my least favorite character is Ashfur. However, just simply saying ‘Ashfur is my least favorite character’ does nothing to to prove why. So in this article, I’m going to prove why I hate Ashfur.
First of all, let’s see what he did to make me hate him.
Well, he overreacted way to much when Squirrelflight told him that they couldn’t be mates. Ashfur lovers would say she ‘dumped’ him, but no. Squirrelflight put him down gently and said that they should still be friends.
But, Ashfur went all crazy and later on attempted to kill four cats – Firestar, Hollyleaf, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze. Ashfur helped to kill Firestar, and that resulted in Firestar losing a life. And when Ashfur tried to kill the three, Leafpool’s secret came out.
Why did Ashfur do all of this? Let’s remember that Firestar is Squirrelflight’s father, and when Ashfur tried to kill the three, everyone thought Squirrelflight was their mother. He tried to kill them because he wanted payback on Squirrelflight.
Some people blame Squirrelflight for Ashfur’s craziness, but no. If you really read the books, you can see that Ashfur did that to himself.
He could of lived a perfectly fine life, he could have lived peacefully, friends with Squirrelflight, and possibly getting his own mate and/or even kits.
It’s shocking that he went to StarClan. He went to StarClan because he ‘loved too much.’ And he also attempted to kill four cats. A lot of people compare him and Mapleshade, so I will do that too.
Mapleshade went to the Dark Forest because she killed three cats to get revenge for her kits. Ashfur went to StarClan even though he tried to kill four cats to get revenge on Squirrelflight for not being his mate. Time for some math – oh wow, four is greater than three!
Sorry for being a bit sarcastic, but I’m get saying he tried to kill four cats and Mapleshade killed three. Ashfur even tried to kill his own clan leader! Hmmm… that sounds a bit Dark Forest-y to me!
What I am trying to say here is that Mapleshade did kill three cats, but Ashfur attempted to kill four. He kind of succeeded with Firestar – he made him lose a life. I think Ashfur deserves to go to the Dark Forest. Ashfur should of let it go and let Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw have a happy life.

Agree 😸! I hate him very much 😾! All those problems are actually made by Ashfur himself, and he should be in the Dark Forest.

I have to admit I loved Ashfur in Twilight. I really like how he always put a good word for Brambleclaw, even when he treats him as an apprentice. He always tried to make Squirrelflight happy and would be ready to give her life for her. However, with time, he became obsessed with her and the only thing he wanted was to win her love. I think he should have gone “If she does not love me, it means she’s not good enough for me” and go on. Who knows, maybe we’d have AshXHolly! Cinderpelt loved Fireheart, and his reincarnation, Cinderheart, chose Lionblaze, his grandson as mate. Maybe Ashfur would do that.
For me, Ashfur is an enigma. I could never decide if he belongs to Starclan or The Place of No Stars. Nice article doe 🙂
This is hardly relevant but Mapleshade DID actually try to kill four cats. The fourth one being Reedshine. She only succeeded in killing three, though.
