Characters who deserve more credit by Lilypaw

Lilypaw lists some cats who should’ve gotten more recognition in the series.

Hiya! Welcome to my *counts* SECOND article!
In this article, I will be talking about some minor characters who had potential to be super fantabulous. MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

Ok, we’re going to start with…
WHITEWING: She was a really underrated character! She was an apprentice for a ridiculously long time.
In Firestar’s Quest, she is OLDER than Squirrelflight and Leafpool. By a good few moons.
By Leafpool’s Wish, STILL AN APPRENTICE. Leafpool has graduated medicine cat training. In case you didn’t know, medicine cats take ages to train.
Whitewing must be so patient to wait that long. Yet she is basically not mentioned at all.
She is such a good mother to Dovekit and Ivykit, but is forgotten about for books in OotS. Not fair.

Next up, we have one of my favourite characters, who doesn’t get much credit. We have…
BRACKENFUR: I understand that Brackenfur IS often mentioned in the books, but he deserves to be in them as much as Dovewing (autocorrects to Covering) is.
His sister Cinderpaw was injured at a young age, leaving him training alone. His other littermates, Thornkit and Brightkit were for some reason not apprenticed with him. His mentor (Greystripe) was off having a good time with his girlfriend. Fireheart was always in the med den with Cinderpaw.
And then, just to top it off, his aunt died.
In the next arc, he was training Whitepaw. You have already heard about how long she was apprenticed for.
Her training probably took time that could have been sent with his mate, Sorreltail.
Finally, Whitepaw becomes Whitewing. His mate kits. His sister dies. His only son dies.
By the end of the arc, one of his daughters dies.
End of the next arc. His daughter has two kits, who try to kill ‘traitors’. His mate dies. His youngest daughter dies.
The poor guy.
Finally:
FERNCLOUD: As an apprentice, her mother dies. Her mentor is exiled. Her life has been pretty grim so far, until she falls in love with Dustpelt. I mean, who DOESN’T ship those two?
Start of the New Prophecy arc. She has two kits! YAY! Shrewkit and Spiderkit! Soon, they are apprentices! Wahoo! Life is good for Ferncloud.
Soon, Shrewpaw dies. Spiderpaw is stricken. So are his parents.
Ferocious soon has another litter of kits. Two die. Welp, that went badly.
One survives, and becomes obnoxious.
Next arc in, and with it (another) litter of kits for Ferncloud! These ones survive one arc, before Foxleap dies of infection and Icecloud of greencough. Spiderleg goes down with her.
Ferncloud is brutally killed by Brokenstar in the final battle with the Dark Forest. BIrchfall was on their side until the last minute.
Dustpelt is crushed. His mate is dead.
Soon, he joins her. Pretty much all of their kits are dead besides Birchfall.
