POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR AVENGERS ENDGAME
When I went and saw Endgame in theaters, at the part where everyone started coming through the portals, Spider-man stepped out and literally everyone in the audience started cheering 😂 it was beautiful. I can’t believe they might (or have already?) just hand Spider-Man off to Sony, even when so many people clearly love him. Like people in the theater were cheering and clapping just cause he showed up. Rest In Peace Spider-Man.
Yeah, a lot of people are really upset. 🙁 We’re not completely sure if it’s a final decision yet, but it seems like it’s going to be at this point.
They didn’t hand Spider-Man over to Sony though. Their deal was three movies, and how the movies work is that Disney has control over the creative process and creation of the movie and sony pays for the movie. That doesn’t seem fair, but Sony gets a 90/10 split of the profits. disney is a billion dollar corporation that’s almost a monopoly on the film industry, so they really don’t need the extra money. But Disney proposed a new deal where they would get a 50/50 split of the profits. Sony wasn’t happy with that, ESPECIALLY since Disney has tried to pull this before, with Andrew Garfield(?)’s Spiderman.
Also, Sony has the rights to spiderman. They were just letting Disney use him so their movies would get more buzz and money.
Spiderman is also still getting a third movie. They just can’t use mcu/Disney stuff
