Welcome back, BlogClanners! Today is the first day of the Deputy hustings! If you still want to apply, you can do so here.
Today our candidates answering your questions will be Emberdawn and Jaysnow!
Please be accepting and give your best questions to our candidates! 😉
Candidates may use the comments below as a space to put their campaign, and the amazing members of BlogClan can use the comments as a space to ask questions, such as: why do you want this position? What are some good qualities you have? What are your flaws?
If you are still confused on hustings, they were explained fully in the first 2019 Elections post by Winterwhisper. You can find that here!
I’ll now hand it over to our candidates! Good luck to all!
Emberdawn
Empathetic, kind, polite
Hello, BlogClan! When I first joined in 2013, the blog was strange to me; it was a bunch of strangers on the internet, all miraculously interested in the same things I were, namely fighting cats who go on adventures and fall in love. But in the few months I spent active on the blog, myperception changed to be warmer! I made friends, some of whom I’ve lost touch with, some I never stopped loving, and some that both they and I didn’t even know we had talked until years later. When I returned from my absence, I was greeted with just the same warm atmosphere that I had experienced years before, and I’ve never forgotten how welcomed I felt. That’s something that I wish all of us, no matter who you are or how long you’ve been on the blog, could feel. I may not be the most active of the mods and I know that I am certainly not the most passionate, but I am dedicated. No matter how busy I become in the future, the blog will always have a special place in my heart, and I hope that as deputy, I can help make you feel as safe and secure as you all did for me.
Jaysnow
Helpful, knowledgeable, caring
I feel that I would make a good deputy. Maybe not as good as Jayfrost was, but good enough to keep the blog a safe and happy place.
1. For both of our candidates: how do you feel you’ve contributed to the various pages on Blogclan already? Have you helped out on the Hug Page, chatted with our members on the Tavern, etc?
2. What do you perceive to be your greatest flaw, and how are you working on improving yourself thereof?
1. I feel guilty about not commenting much on the Hug Page. I comment on the Tavern from time to time, but I’m limited by my schedule in real life. I’m a college student, and I also work on the side. However, I plan on becoming much more active on those pages in the future. I have definitely contributed, though. I’m Jaysnow, as you can see, and the “Ask Jaysnow” page is mine. I make sure to stay active there and answer everyone’s questions about the books and the Blog to my best ability. People have told me I do a good job there, so I feel pretty good about that. 🙂
2. My greatest flaw…that’s a hard question. I think my greatest flaw is being too hard on myself. When things go wrong, I often get so frustrated with myself to the point that I need a few days or sometimes weeks to withdraw and take time to reflect. I work on this often, and I think it’s gotten better over the years, but it’s still there. I always try my best, though.
1. I’m usually always available on the articles page and I have a sporadic tendency to randomly reply to other people’s comments on the Tavern, usually if they amuse me 😛 I’ve talked on the Hug Page before, using mostly my own experiences to try and help others with theirs, and I can sometimes be found on the discussion pages
and the ember den.2. Hmm…. Flaw questions are always really hard to answer, because sometimes I just see too many in me 😛 I’ve briefly mentioned my ego before, so I suppose I can elaborate on it since apparently a lot of people don’t think I have a huge ego.
For a very, very long time, I’ve had a bit of an ego. While it’s not massive, it is fairly decently sized and it does like to rear its ugly head at the best and worst of times. I usually try to keep it under control, especially in front of others, but if something doesn’t go my way (or rather, if I don’t get praise for my contributions or my work or… any of my writing I guess 😛 ), I just tend to… simmer quietly in my seat. I’m not saying that you should always praise me, no that would be way too much of an enabler 😛 But another thing that can cause my ego to take the front seat is just generally being the one with knowledge to answer a question, because then I have an unfortunate habit to run my mouth and act like I know something fairly well before it’s revealed that I don’t at all and what I do know is just the tip of the iceberg compared to what other people know. It’s a blow to my pride and yikes I can feel it. I do try pretty hard to make sure that my ego stays down when I want it to stay down, and I think I’ve done a fairly good job at that so far 🙂 Or maybe that’s my ego talking 😛
I’m running for deputy y’all! I doubt I’ll win though 😛 Good luck to everyone else
Good luck to you too! 🙂
Good luck Pasty!! 🙂
Questions!
1. If there was a dispute of some kind, how would you settle it?
2. Why are you running for deputy, besides the generic answers (I want to help BlogClan, I think I can improve the blog, etc.)?
1. Compromises. Always compromises. Making sure one side doesn’t resent the other after the resolution has passed. That has been my goal for irl conflicts and wiki conflicts (I solve plenty as a staff member there), so I’ve got experience. 🙂
2. I think I’d be good at it. I know the place like I know the back of my own hand. (Is that a non-generic enough answer? 😛 )
P.S I don’t mean to sound cocky. 🙂
1. Finding out the facts and the opinions of all parties involved is always a must 🙂 I want to have a clear picture of the issue before I take any action, otherwise I could make a mistake with disastrous consequences. Afterward, I’d approach the situation carefully with a plan or words that I’ve prepared beforehand based on the nature of the dispute and those of the parties involved, since different people might need different discussions to resolve the problem. If I ever have any doubts, I always go to other people I know I can trust for aide to hammer out a more solid action plan.
2. I genuinely love BlogClan 😛 This place gives me warm fuzzy feelings (especially that message from Sunny <3 <3 <3 she always manages to make me smile). I know the blog fairly well and I see a lot of familiar faces when going through comments 😀 Though I may not talk to every single BlogClanner, a lot of them are people who are not only nice to me but to each other and wow lots more warm fuzzy feelings there 😛 I guess nothing describes it more than I love BlogClan <3
Q for Ember: do you remember when we met, way back in 2013, and do you know that I’ve loved being your friend ever since? And that I think you’d be an incredible deputy.
You dazzle me with your brilliance. ❤
I do remember how we met and grew close on the BlogClan Roleplay Boards <3 I did not know, but I had a feeling that you might say that at some point, and honestly, I feel the same way. You're one of the best and brightest people that I've known from the blog, Sunny, and I ask that you never change, or at least bring back that warm disposition for chats with me 🙂
I miss you dearly and wish you all the best in leaving Missouri and continuing your trail beyond <3
Good luck all 😀
Thank youuuu! 🙂
Hello folks!
I would just like to make a lil statement, as a non-BlogTeam Kat, letting everyone know that being on the BlogTeam should not and will not determine your success in this election campaign. When I was elected (perhaps six years ago? Wow. I’m old), I was not a member of the BlogTeam. I did not see this as a detriment to my desire to help serve the Blog and enrich the community though–it didn’t even enter my brain. And I did not see my position as a medicine cat as any factor in my continuing support and love for the Blog–my activity and friendliness was not going to change if I did or did not get the position.
The most important thing to being elected is not if your name is attached to an article, or if you’re behind the scenes organizing minor details…because that’s not what the voters…your community…notice. The most important thing is whether or not you’re on the Tavern for every day that you’re on the blog, responding to comments, asking how people’s days went, responding when they ask you! The most important thing is whether or not you’re on the Hug Page, consoling or in the least just supporting a user. Being on the BlogTeam made no difference then to my ability to do that. And it would similarly make no difference now.
Again, this is a non-BlogTeam-representative Kat comment, and it is not directed at anyone right now or in the future–it’s just something for those either running for deputy or medicine cat. I wish all of you the best of luck. 🙂
I agree, the people who eventually fill the positions should be representative of all of BlogClan, and be the voice of the people to help make BlogClan better for everyone 🙂
Exactly 🙂
Can we get a Recent purrs page? cause I always try and see ALL the recent purrs but can’t rip
just…. go through the blog? If the pages you don’t go onto don’t interest you, would you be interested in the comments either?
Hope that made sense it’s bedtime for me 😛
I’m… not sure if WordPress even has an option like that 😛
For both candidates:
1. What’s your favourite thing about BlogClan? Like, favourite favourite thing? (ik Ember has touched on this already but this way it’s an easier comparison)
2. What do you think is the main contribution you’ve made so far on the blog? (it can be broad but,, pick one or two)
1. I adore the fanfic page 😛 I don’t have enough time to read everyone’s stories, but I do see and skim through them while modding and it makes me so happy to see so many fantastic and creative BlogClanners who partake in a craft after my own heart 😀
2. I think my main contribution is scheduling articles 😛 As a non-BlogTeam member, though, I did a lot of work managing and basically admin-ing the main roleplay(s) on the wiki, which was fairly active for a time, though it has since died down. Revamps are in the works and hopefully we (roleplay staff) can continue to make the roleplay a fun activity for everyone
#shamelessplug go check out the roleplays! they’re now on discord since fandom is being a butt.Ember pls check out my Fan Fiction on Fan Fiction Organisation page pls
It’s a very interesting concept 🙂
1. How safe it feels. I love it that kids can come here and chat freely.
2. Ask Jaysnow! It is my pride and joy. 🙂
Shoutout to Kate for setting it up for me.
This is a weird question, but I’ll continue anyway 😛
If someone came to you, very confused about how to get a profile picture, or saying that they were finding it impossible to change it how would you explain the process as simply as possible 🙂 ?
Ooof that’s such a weird question
Uh maple not weird at all 😛 makes total sense
Honestly…. I think at this point we need a diagram 😛 like an info-graphic to just slap on the new members page or a new page that’s an intro to BlogClan page along with others to help people figure their way through the blog 🙂 a picture’s worth a thousand words, after all!
A diagram is the best solution. ^^
