Rejection by Mudfoot

Mudfoot takes a look at rejection throughout the series. Minor spoilers for AVOS.

Rejection is a common thing in Warriors. But i want to analyze some rejections. (please dont spoil, i’ve only read up to the last hope, bluestars prophecy, and currently reading The Blazing Star.) DISCLAIMER: this has LOTS of spoils and opinions. So ye. So lets start with the first rejection i know of. This rejection is Bluefur rejecting Thrushpelt. He took it well, unlike some other toms. Anyway even though they didnt become mates, Thrushpelt was kind to Bluefur, and lied to the whole of Thunderclan about Bluefurs kits. He would have been a good mate in my opinion, but he was already a new warrior when Bluefur was born, making him many moons older than her. Plus he basically wasnt making moves fast enough because she had known him her whole life (basically) and she ended up with a tom she had talked to only a couple of times. Which it can be good to take things slow, but he was just a little bit to slow. Now lets move on to the Ashfur and Spuirrelflight rejection drama. So basically to sum it up they dated for two weeks and Ashfur wanted marriage. Jk jk, but thats basically how i see it. So their whole relationship started because Squirrelflight was mad at Brambleclaw for hanging out with Hawkfrost and Tigerstar. And then after that Brambkeclaw proves his loyalty (even though he should not have had too, if she truly loved him he wouldnt of had to prove himself) by killing Hawkfrost. I’m pretty sure somewhere around this time Leafpool gets a sign that Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw are destined to be together. (Wanna know something gross? Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw are related! Do the research.) Anyway so then about five books later Ashfur still can’t get past the point they dated for two weeks and decides to try to kill three freaking children, including a blind one, invincible one, and a left out one. So then everything spirals out of control and then Hollyleaf ends it all by killing Ashfur. So the next rejection is Bumblestripes rejection. He gets rejected mostly because he abuses Dovewing. He tells his sister about his crush on her, and then Blossomfall is all like “why you gotta be so rude. He just likes you” and so is basically everybody else in the clan. And then every time she rejects him, he goes crying back to Blossomfall because he can’t handle his rejection on his own, so she has to go and confront Dovewing. Also there is a part I believe Bumblestripe deliberately (on purpose) goes on a walk with Dovewing, and she rejects him. And then I feel like Bumblestripe asked some of his friends to make Dovewing feel guilty when they got back to camp. So what I find shocking is that two of the rejections I talked about involved a half-clan relationship. But, sometimes half-clan relationships work out for the better.

Nice article Mudfoot! 🙂 There’s a lot of rejections when it comes to half-clan relationships! It’s bound to happen though, they’re forbidden after all. 😛

Nice article 😺. Rejections are what keep the story going, and create characters that I hate 😛…

Another thing, pretty sure Ashfur is related to Squirrelflight as well. He’s her uncle or something I don’t even know. Idk tho I’ve just seen people say it.
Anyways, I think the article was written pretty well! 😀
