  • Hey Kate, I don’t come by here often (as shown by my outdated Halloween avatar) but I just have a quick question after reading Tree’s Roots. Was Rootspring named after Root, Tree’s father? It makes sense considering how much Tree loved his father and they essentially have the same name. I just thought it would be a cool thing to know if he was, as then Tree and Violetshine both got to name their kits after someone important to them 😀

  • (I commented previously but it didn’t appear after a few days so maybe it didn’t go through, but if it appears later I’ll have this up twice so apologies for that)

So, I don’t come by often (hence my Halloween cat avatar), but I just wanted to quickly ask this:
Is Rootspring named after Root, Kate? It makes sense as Tree really cared for his father, but I was hoping for confirmation that it wasn’t just a cool coincidence. Thanks! 😀

  • Hello. My comment I said a few days ago also didn’t go through or is in moderation, but I went off of Flamefrost’s previous comment about Mothwing’s Secret to ask Kate if she confirmed Reedwhisker and Duskfur were mates and had Curlkit and Podkit as we on the Warriors Wiki could then update the character pages and the family trees for the fandom. Would you be able to help Rainshine Rainie?

      • I can help Kate! Curlkit and Podkit were born to Duskfur and they were kits during the Omen of the Stars arc and during the Great Battle in The Last Hope. They eventually grew up to become Curlfeather and Podlight and are both still alive as of Veil of Shadows. We know Duskfur is their mother, and you said it was obvious that Reedwhisker was their father so I was hoping you would confirm it was true. If you’re still confused as to who they are I can attach some wiki links about them in another post. Hope this clears it up!

        • Thanks Snowdawn! I know Curl and Pod well, but I have a habit of getting mixed up about parentage, so I’m not commenting! 😛 If it’s not written in one of the books, then the jury is still out about who their father is.

        • I think they were talking about Reedwhisker, who doesn’t have a mate or kits, at least confirmed ones. Although maybe if we could ask the editors somehow or through Kate, they can solve parentage problems and clear up confusion.

  • Okay, so I read the book, and IT IS SO GOOD!!! My favourite novella in it is Mothwing’s Secret. I started Warriors at New Prophecy so Hawkfrost was my first villain, and Mothwing’s Secret really dives into points of the arc that I have been wondering about for a long time. Also, in Pebbleshine’s Kits, there is a gray cat named Coco, and I HAVE A GRAY CAT NAMED COCO! My Coco is a tom, but Pebbleshine’s Coco is a she-cat.

  • Kate, Can you please give me the names of Creek’s older siblings and their current status?

Also, did Creek live long enough to get banished?

  • Is Ice still alive? If not, then why wasn’t she with The Sisters when they debuted in Squirrelflight’s Hope?

  • Hey Kate I’ve seen that a lot of people are asking about fathers and mates for the family tree, so I thought I’d make an official list you can work off to make it easier, and take to the editors if they need to make a decision. (Most of the cats are RC)

    Unknown Fathers/Mates
    ThunderClan –

Sorrelstripe (mother to Baypaw and Myrtlepaw)

    SkyClan –

Reedclaw (mother to Turtlecrawl and Kitescratch)

    ShadowClan –

Kinkfur (mother to Sparrowtail and Mistcloud)

    RiverClan –

Graymist (mother to Sneezecloud and Mallownose)
Duskfur (mother to Podlight and Curlfeather)
Curlfeather (mother to Frostkit, Graykit, and Mistkit)
Dawnflower (mother to Minnowtail, Pebblefoot, and Tumblekit)
Mistystar (mother to Reedwhisker, Primrosepaw, Pikepaw, and Perchkit)
    Mosspelt (mother to Willowshine)

If y’all want to add more feel free to comment but we’ll keep it less for Kate so she doesn’t get overwhelmed. 😊

  • So I read the book, and it was really good! Pebbleshine’s Kit’s and Tree’s Roots both had some pretty sad aspects, and in Mothwing’s Secret, I noticed that when she was talking about the Dark Forest she mentioned Darktail as one of the cats that had gone to the Dark Forest before she was born, but Darktail comes to the lake after the Great Battle….. 😛 . I just assumed she meant Darkstripe because typos do happen 😛

  • I think we have plenty of cats which appearances have been confirmed through the blog. So lets just guess the coat colors of Ice, Chestnut, and Spider and hope Kate has some confirming to do.

Ice – Very fluffy, medium-sized, pure white she-cat
Chestnut – Fluffy, thick-furred, huge, dappled chestnut brown tabby tom with a long, bushy tail, wide paws, and dark amber eyes.
Spider – Very fluffy black tabby tom with gray underbelly and icy blue-green eyes.
Petal – Very fluffy pale tortoiseshell tabby and white she-cat with snowy white patches and legs.

    • I Picture Petal as a predominantly white she-cat with flower shaped patches that are the color of brown. Unlike most of the sister’s however, Petal has short-fur in my head-canon.
