Moonpaw analyzes the character, Sasha! Do you think she was a good parent?
Hey! It’s Moona here, back again with another article. This one is about why I believe Sasha was indeed the best mother she possibly could’ve been.
So, we all know how Sasha was a rouge living near the clans at the time of Tigerclaw’s tyranny, when she fell In love with him and had his kits, Hawkfrost, Mothwing, and Tadpole.
Now, many say that Sasha was mean to her kits when they were young and didn’t hunt enough. Let’s remember that Sasha was hunting as much as she possibly could while still supervising her kits. She was definitely struggling a lot, and she never learned to hunt, because she was born a kittypet! Because of this, she was very stressed and probably didn’t have the patience for three tiny little kits! No one, even parents, should be expected to be perfect.
Once Sasha left the forest, seeing how awful Tigerstar was, and realizing she couldn’t keep her kits in such a terrible situation, she went to live with a sailor for many moons, and Tadpole died. When the sailor left, she decided to go back to the forest and joined Riverclan, hoping they could take care of her family.
This is the part of Sasha’s story that most find fault in. Sasha “abandoned” her kits in Riverclan. Now, I don’t like using the word abandoned, because it has the connotation that she didn’t care. Sasha left her kits to live in Riverclan because she felt she just didn’t belong. Mothers shouldn’t have to give up their own freedom, happiness, and even their own lives, just for their kits’ sake. Sasha had done so much for her kits already, she really deserved a break anyways.
In fact, staying with the kits would have been bad for them! Think back to kits who’s mother was unhappy with their situation, whether that’s the kits they had, how they were treated, whatever! Brokenstar, Crookedstar, Breezepelt, and others. They didn’t have great lives, right? Now, you might be saying, “But, Moona! Hawkfrost and Mothwing didn’t have good lives either!” Well, I’d say that was more Riverclan’s fault than Sasha’s. Riverclan was never completely trusting of the two until later, which certainly took a tole on the littermates.
I hope I was able to change your mind about Sasha, Moona out!
