Hey folks! It’s time for our next edition of HAPPY MAIL!
Things are scary right now, no doubt. It seems as if 2020 decided it did not want to be easy on us, and especially the younger generation is left with uncertainty and fear for the future. When I start to think too long about what’s going on in this moment I want to explode, and when I start to imagine what could be next I want to start crying.
We have this unfortunate circumstance where it seems as if the heavy load of the future is being placed on our very young shoulders. It’s as if we are being handed the keys to our new house that is on fire behind us. That can easily make any of us anxious, depressed, or just plain frightened. But I want to remind you that it will be okay.
At the same time where so much is going wrong, there is also so much that is going right. There are so many people sacrificing their safety, sacrificing their dream careers, sacrificing their personal lives because they want to make the world a better place. Look to them! Look to those who are acting! Look to those who are helping! You certainly don’t have to be one of them, but allow yourself to be inspired.
The future is not in the ashes of the burning present, the future is in those who are building upon the rubble!
We’ll get through this. Things might be a bit different afterwards, but that’s inevitable. Things always change. And things usually change for the better. It’s just sometimes scary to be swimming amidst the changing current.
Take a long, deep breath. It’s going to be okay. It’s going to be different, but that’s okay. You’re going to be alive and well on the other side. You’re going to get older, and soon perhaps become one of those helpers according to your own principles and ideals.
But don’t worry about that right now. All you should be concerned about is growing up, learning, and being a better person on the other side.
It’s going to be okay.
