Lightningstar06 talks about a possible new position in the clan hierarchy.
Hey guys, Lightningstar06 or Lightningstar here. This is my first article (I’m kinda nervous). I have read The Prophecies Begin, but haven’t read any of the other series. The stand alone books that I read are Bluestar’s Prophecy, Legends of the Clans, Shadows of the Clans, Code of the Clans, Secrets of the Clans, Battles of the Clans, and Cats of the Clans. I’m reading Yellowfang’s Secret now.Anyway, back to the article.
The position I was thinking of was a warrior who also is trained as a semi-medicine cat. Unlike Yellowfang or Hawkheart, who were warriors and then they became medicine cats, these cats would be more similar to Brightheart. For those of you who haven’t either read the book, had your friend tell you, or searched it up, here’s what I’m talking about. At a certain time, Brightheart began spending lots of her time with Cinderpelt, the medicine cat and her sister. She learned some of the herbs that a medicine cat uses, as well as the herbs’ uses (I may be wrong). I thought that if there was a cat who was trained as a warrior, but also learned some of the herbs, usually the most commonly needed and used, that could be a great new position. In my book, Lightningclaw’s first daughter (possibly his only daughter, if he doesn’t have any more kits) Mintpaw/Mintleaf, will likely learn some of the herbs needed to heal wounds and stop infections, such as marigold and dried oak leaf. But, she will still be a warrior. My reasoning is this: For example, in my fanfiction, Cinderpelt is the only medicine cat for a decent amount of time. I realized that if there were too many injuries, she might not be able to heal all of her Clanmates in time. But this is where the warrior/semi-medicine cat comes in. He or she would help the actual medicine cat heal the basic injuries, such as scratches and bites. That way, the more serious injuries could be dealt with by the medicine cat. They could still have mates, but didn’t have to be chosen by StarClan. Also, they do not interpret StarClan’s signs. If a warrior/semi-medicine cat chooses to leave their duties as a semi-medicine cat, they must tell the leader and the medicine cat. This way, if the medicine cat decides they need to train another warrior/semi-medicine cat, they have a heads up. Also, they will still be called upon by the medicine cat if they need assistance. Then there is the matter of them becoming a full-fledged medicine cat. They must step down from their duties as a warrior and become a full time medicine cat or medicine cat apprentice. They also cannot have a mate. However, if the clan leader approves of it, they may still have a mate. I don’t think many clan leader’s would like this. That is my argument. I don’t think this is going to actually happen, but I just thought that I would put this out there. Also, if you have a name for this kind of cat, please say so in the comments. I know that this won’t go over well with some people, but again, I just decided to put this out there. Sorry for the long rant, I just had a lot to say. Thanks for reading this. Lightningstar06 out!
I always thought there were some warriors who occasionally helped the medicine cats, but having an actual name for that (in my opinion, it wouldn’t necessarily be a role, just, like, a nickname for those types of warriors) makes sense. 😛
EDIT: I also feel like I’d be one of those warriors 😉
SPOILERS FOR POWER OF THREE Sol tried to do this to everyone in ShadowClan. Sad that didn’t work, would’ve been a perfect opportunity.
This is smart. I always liked the idea of Warriors able to still learn herbs and how to heal at least the basics. There is always a time where a Medicine Cat must leave the Medicine Den to go and heal a cat/clanmate outside the camp/territory. Having a Semi-Medicine Cat would make things easier for the Medicine Cats and also open up new possibilities. Maybe if there was a Semi-Medicine Cat, a Medicine Cat could have a mate and kits (Which should be allowed either way). Anyway, good article Lighningstar06! 😁
Maybe a herb warrior? Medicine warrior? I don’t really know, these are the first that popped into my head.
