The seventh edition of the Blog Monthly is here – written by Lil, fresh off the printing press Hello, everyone!! The Blog Monthly is back and better than ever! I hope you all love this edition, in my opinion it is one...
Bristleflight takes a look at the protagonists of A Starless Clan and Moonpaw of Changing Skies.
Spiritflight and Coralpaw discuss ships from the series.
Silentpaw scratched at the ground. He looked up. For a split second, he thought he could see his mother gazing down at him with loving eyes. But when he looked back up, his mother was gone, and suddenly he felt more alone than ever. “Quail… Please, tell me what to do…” He muttered, hoping nobody heard him. I wish I had wings… I would fly out of here and be able to pluck birds mid-flight! “Hey, guys is that a flying cat?” “YEW IT’S A FLYING CAT GET OUT OF THE WAY!” He was sucked into a fantasy, not caring what any cat says.
-Redstorm-
“Silentpaw… What are you doing?” she growled. “Go and start training!”
He jumped. “I’m sorry! I just haven’t been given orders and I’m debating whether I should’ve left to make sure my sister doesn’t come after you AND busy questioning my life choices!” Silentpaw started out slowly. “Maybe I’m not meant for the clan.” He drooped his head, and slowly trudged away.
-Redstorm-
She shook her head. “Weird dude.” she muttered
-Palestar-
She followed Paleleaf’s meaningful gaze towards Willowpaw. “I’ll call a meeting. Willowpaw, please send the message; no kits, apprentices, and queens at the meeting.”
-Willowpaw-
“B-but I’m scared! What if PInethroat kills me?” she looked at Embestream. “Can you come with me?”
-Bumbleheart-
She yawned, stretching her legs. “Hazelkit? What’s wrong?”
Emberstream flicked her tail over Willowpaw’s back gently and glanced at Palestar, “Ok, but only if Palestar agrees.” She meowed to Willowpaw.
Hazelkit looked up at Bumbleheart, “Redstorm wasn’t nice to Pebblekit,” she whispered. “Now Pebblekit is sad.” She laid her head on Pebblekit and sighed. “Redstorm is mean, she hurt Pebblekit’s feelings.” She nuzzled closer to her sister, “I won’t let that meanie head to it again.” She promised quietly to Pebblekit.
Pebblekit made a small whimpering noise.
Hazelkit looked up at her mother, eyes wide with helplessness. She licked Pebblekit’s head and tried to comfort her.
Pebblekit squirmed in her sleep. She was dreaming that Redstorm was scolding her about being outside. Then she woke up and sneezed.
Hazelkit had fallen asleep with her paw resting on Pebblekit protectively. She jolted awake when she heard Pebblekit sneeze and glanced at her. “Are you ok?” She asked quietly, eyes wide with worry.
Palestar rose to her paws. “Emberstream, you can go.”
Emberstream nodded gratefully and flicked her tail at Willowpaw, “Come on,” she meowed gently. She spun when she heard someone yell “Spy from Pinethroat” and saw Owl. “Wait here,” she whispered to Willowpaw. “I’ll see what’s going on.”
~Owl~
The she-cat walked around, her search for her sister had led her nowhere. there were some cat scents, but chances are her sister wasn’t here. as she made her way to a clearing she hid in a thick clump of grass. as she gazed at the unfamiliar cats through the blades of grass she noticed one familiar cat. “No way,” she thought to herself. she looked closer, the fluffy tortoiseshell fur, the white paws, the small ears. and everything was confirmed when she say the she-cats unforgettable lavender eyes.
“Flare?” she breathed not expecting anyone to hear. but when she saw a small blue-gray she-cat prick her ears she started to panic. and moments later the cat was on top of her pinning her down.
“Who are you.” the blue cat growled.
“A spy from Pinethroat” Owl heard someone shriek. when she managed a look at the tortoiseshell, she looked drawn back, as if she’s seen a ghost.
“Who are you” repeated the she-cat.
“O-owl, I’m just looking for my sister” she managed to say.
“Saphirestorm, let her go,” said the tortoiseshell.
“I’m not taking any risks” retorted Saphirestorm.
“Saphirestorm, that’s my sister” said the tortoiseshell.
“Hey, hey, hey!” Drizzlepaw said, “Saphirestorm, you know we don’t pin cats unless they seem bad, and Owl, here, is just looking for her sister.”
ignore
Emberstream stalked over, forcing her fur to lie flat. “hello, Owl,” she greeted with cool politeness. “I’m Emberstream. Ignore Sapphirestorm, she’s always like this.” She glanced over at Palestar, “You should probably talk to our leader, over there.”
~Saphirestorm~
She let out an annoyed hiss at her clanmates then jumped off stalking to the warrior’s den.
~Owl~
The loner stared at Flareheart hardly hearing Emberstream.
“Is it really you” she whispered, but all The tortoiseshell said was.
“We better report this to Palestar”
-Palestar-
“Report what?” she said, her gaze wary at the cat, Owl. “What are you doing here?” she muttered, forced politeness in her mew. She slid her claws out. “Sapphirestorm, who is she?”
-Willowpaw-
She pressed herself against Emberstream.
~Saphirestorm~
“A spy from Pinethroat,” said Saphirestorm.
~Owl~
“I’m no such thing, I don’t even know who that is” she meowed defensively.
“You have no right to accuse me of anything, or jumping on me and almost choking me.” She said.
“and I would just like to point out that I noticed your forced kindness, mother was right to leave your kind”
“Now if you don’t mind, I’ll be on my way” she whipped around and stalked away.
Emberstream curled her tail protectively around Willowpaw and started to lead her away from Owl. “Come on,” she whispered gently. “Palestar will take care of it.” She licked Willowpaw’s ear comfortingly.
{~}Pebblekit{~]
Pebblekit squirmed in her sleep, whimpering.
{~}Drizzlepaw{~}
Drizzlepaw approached Littleleaf, sap dripping from her paws.
“Is this good for Splashkit?” she asked Littleleaf.
-lITTLELEAF-
“yes, that’s good,”
Hazelkit sniffled quietly and snuggled closer to Pebblekit. “Pebblekit?” She whispered. “Are you awake?”
{~}Drizzlepaw{~}
Drizzlepaw slowly gave Splashkit the sap, careful to not hurt her.
{~}Pebblekit{~}
Pebblekit nodded, then sneezed again. She shot a worried glance at Hazelkit.
I shouldn’t have gone outside…. now I’m probably sick!
Hazelkit stared at her, “You can’t be sick too!” She cried. She licked Pebblekit’s head and whimpered, “If you get sick, I’ll be alone.” She brushed her tail along Pebblekit’s back worriedly. “Maybe you just need to rest?” She suggested hopefully.
{~}Pebblekit{~}
Pebblekit nodded warily, “I’ll try to rest.”
I hope this works… she thought, I don’t wanna be sick.
Hazelkit sighed and rested her head on Pebblekit’s back, “Get some sleep.” She meowed softly
Pebblekit drifted off into deep sleep, so deep she had no dreams.
Hazelkit had trouble falling asleep, and when she did, her dreams were filled with her sisters, sick and dying, leaving her all alone. She whimpered quietly and cuddled closer to Pebblekit
Pebblekit was still in deep sleep, but eventually she started dreaming about the night sky and her flying around in the stars, having fun with her sister, Hazelkit.
Hazelkit woke with a start and jerked her head up, heart pounding. She glanced at Pebblekit, terror filling her eyes. When she saw that Pebblekit was still fast asleep, she sighed and rested her head on her paws.
-Palestar-
“Flareheart? What do you have to say about this?”
~Flareheart~
“I mean she’s my sister and you guys are treating her like she is a spy from Pinethroat and i know for sure Owl isn’t the type of person to be a spy, and i just think like she’s been looking for me and all and like her whole journey would be put to waste if you choked her to death,” she mumbled. her tail was waving from side to side quickly, something that Flareheart did when she was very uncomfortable.
~Owl~
“About time you use those words Flare. but just a suggestion, use the before i almost die”
-Palestar-
She narrowed her eyes. “Okay, Flareheart, we won’t kill her. She looks… useful.” She leaned closer to her deputy. “By any chance, do you think we could get… one more warrior?” she whispered, her eyes darting to Owl.
~Flareheart~
“Kill her! you won’t KILL HER” she growled outraged
“You won’t KILL her” she spat. she walked up to her leader and stared the she-cat straight into her eyes, her lavender eyes blazing with anger.
“She’s my SISTER Palestar, and you won’t KILL her,” she growled, she heard surprised whispers from her clanmates.
“You’re throwing the words around like they’re nothing” she spat. her neck fur was bristling and she dug her claws in the ground pulling tufts of grass out.
“Calm down Flareheart” Said Saphirestorm, concerned.
“Calm down, CALM DOWN.” Growled Flareheart, turning her attention to Saphirestorm.
“You expect me to calm down after all this, you expect me to calm down after the clan was threatened, by the very tom that killed Vinetangle (Her mate). you expect me to be calm after my sister randomly wanders into our camp. You expect me to be calm after you almost killed my sister” instead of digging her claws into the ground she was digging them into her tail now, she stood up and stormed out of camp. her tail dripping with blood.
~Owl~
The she-cat shrunk, she hadn’t expected Flareheart to stand up for her like that. so she decided to play along. she shot Saphirestorm a nasty look then walked out of camp behind her sister.
Emberstream leaned in, “You can’t mean…” She stopped. “Palestar, we know nothing about that cat. Plus, she doesn’t even want to be here.” She pointed out. “How can we trust a cat that would rather be alone or with a group of rouges?”
-Palestar-
“Later, Emberstream. WE have to go after Flareheart.” She started towards the two walking she-cats, her tail flicking agitadedly. “Flareheart, we don’t mean it, we’re sorry. I’m sorry that Vinetangle got killed, its just that now we’re in danger of Pinethroat, so we’re more careful, okay?”
Emberstream walked away, toward Willowpaw. “You’ve seen enough.” She meowed gently, blocking Willowpaw’s view. “Let’s get on with your chores.” She guided the apprentice away from the group of cats, worried for her.
-Willowpaw-
She followed her mentor, awestruck. “What’s happened to Flareheart? Who’s Owl? Who’s Vinetangle?”
Emberstream glanced behind her and sighed, “Vinetangle was Flareheart’s mate, killed by…” She paused, not wanting to frightened Willowpaw more. “Vinetangle was killed.” She meowed simply. “Owl is Flareheart’s sister,” she flicked her tail. “now let’s get on with your duties.” She said briskly, trotting to the elders den. She avoided Willowpaw’s first question, scared of the answer, and hoped that she wouldn’t notice.
-Willowpaw-
“Hey, Emberstream, what happened to Flareheart? YOU forgot to asnwer!”
Emberstream sighed and lead Willowpaw to a corner in the camp, away from the other cats. “Willowpaw, Flareheart… Flareheart just needs to figure some things out on her own.” She meowed carefully. “Just remember that she is our clanmate, which means we have to be there to help support her… Even when she’s a little lost. Do you understand?”
Willow paw cocked her head. She didn’t but she saw that emberstream was stressed, so she nodded.
Emberstream sighed and stood, “Let’s get on with your chores.” She meowed, standing. Something inside told her that Willowpaw didn’t understand, but she didn’t want to have to go into more detail… Not right now at least.
Pebblekit woke up from her nap, and started sneezing. Then she coughed a bit.
“Hazel…kit,” she said quietly, “Can you get Drizzlepaw?”
Hazelkit nodded worriedly and dashed out of the den, “Drizzlepaw!” She cried. “Pebblekit needs you!” She ran back to her sister, panting, and woke up Bumbleheart. “Mommy, there’s something wrong with Pebblekit.” She meowed quickly.
Drizzlepaw came dashing over, “What is it?”
Her eyes darted to Pebblekit, “Oh, she probably just has a chill. I’ll go check on her.”
Hazelkit paced nervously and kept nosing Pebblekit, “What’s wrong with her?” She asked worriedly. “She’ll be alright, right? Will you have to take her from the nursery? How long will it take her to get better?” The questions rushed out in a jumble of words and Hazelkit had to pause and catch her breath.
“She’ll be fine,” Drizzlepaw reassured.
Hazelkit stared at Pebblekit, “How do you know?” She challenged aggressively. “What if she’s really really sick? What if you mess something up? What if you give her the wrong stuff? What if you hurt her?” She stared up at Drizzlepaw, eyes dark with concern.
“Look, I promise I can save every cat, but I can at least try,” she said calmly, knowing Hazelkit was just worried about Pebblekit. “But I can tell you, she will most likely be alright. Chills aren’t that serious.”
Hazelkit held Drizzlepaw’s gaze for awhile, searching for any sort of doubt. She sighed and curled up next to Bumbleheart, burying her face in her mother’s fur. Worry pulsed off of her in waves and she felt anxiety flooding her mind
~Owl~
The she-cat struggled to keep up with her sister. finally, the tortoiseshell stopped. Owl glanced at her tail then said.
“Let me patch you up” then walked to a patch of cobwebs, picked them up, and put them on Flareheart’s tail, closing the wound.
“You really shouldn’t be clawing at yourself, if I were you, i would have done it to that Palestar cat” meowed Owl after she was done.
