Medicine Cats that Trained as Warriors by Whitepaw

Whitepaw lists some medicine cats that were warriors before they chose their lives of healing.

I’ve just been thinking about medicine cats training as warriors. I read Spottedleaf’s Heart, and I read Yellowfang’s secret, and I reread The Sight, and I read The Apprentice’s Quest, and I’m thinking “Wow! All of these medicine cats trained as warriors!”. So, I decided to write an article about it. Let’s start off with ThunderClan medicine cats. There are some medicine cat spoilers.

I don’t know much about Goosefeather and Featherwhisker, so I will skip them.
Spottedleaf chose to be a warrior apprentice and was planning a life with Thistleclaw, but she became a medicine cat instead. Thistleclaw wasn’t worth it.: )
Yellowfang was a full warrior before she became a medicine cat and she didn’t want to become a medicine cat, but was somehow destined for it because of her power.
Cinderpelt shouldn’t have been a medicine cat and trained as a warrior until the Tigerstar Thunderpath incident thing happened.
Leafpool was one of the few medicine cats that actually chose to be a medicine cat at the beginning.
Jayfeather wanted to be a warrior, but that’s impossible. I love the scene where Hollypaw is going to tell Firestar that she actually wants to be a warrior while Jaypaw is headed there to tell him he wants to become a medicine cat.
Alderheart wanted to be a warrior, but was terrible at it, so he became a medicine cat.
Flipclaw doesn’t really count, but he was a full warrior before Bramblefalse decided to make him a medicine cat because of a weird nightmare he had.

For the other clans, many of them had warrior-turned-medicine cats as well. Let’s do WindClan.
Hawkheart was a full warrior before he became a medicine cat. That’s how he was able to kill Moonflower.
Barkface. I don’t think he trained as a warrior, but I haven’t read Tallstar’s revenge in two years.
Kestrelflight. Not enough details!

Now let’s do ShadowClan.

Runningnose. I forgot. It’s also been two years since I read this book, but I guess there’s nothing better to do than reread books during quarantine.
Littlecloud was a young ShadowClan warrior having been apprenticed under Brokenstar. He caught the sickness and inspirational Cinderpelt who wasn’t even supposed to be a medicine cat inspired him to become a medicine cat after helping him.
Flametail always wanted to be a medicine cat, but that got postponed due to Sol and Blackstar not believing in StarClan.
Puddleshine barely had a chance to do anything before being whisked away to the medicine den to learn to be a medicine cat so that ShadowClan would have one. They probably chose a random kit that was not busy play fighting and put them to learn herbs with whichever ThunderClan medicine cat it was.
Shadowsight started having visions for Dovewing and Tigerheart on how to get home as a kit and immediately started to train as a medicine cat as soon as they got back to ShadowClan.

Now, we do RiverClan.
Mudfur was the best warrior in the forest before he decided to become a medicine cat.
Mothwing trained as a warrior and became one before she got inspired by Mudfur and decided to become a medicine cat.
Willowshine always knew she wanted to be a medicine cat.
