Ferretpaw wonders if Bluestar made the right choice with her kits.

Bluestar many people love this character(including myself.) Anyone is the clans should here about her. It was very sad to see her go. But was it right to give away her kits in order to gain power? Yes-the way I said makes Bluestar seem like the worst; maybe I should rephrase that- Was it right to give away her kits in order to become deputy? That phrase mellows it out a bit, but is that the true way to say it? She wanted to become leader, so she had to give away her kits. This sounds somewhat like Tigerstar, doing anything to become deputy. The only thing different…. is that Bluestar felt bad afterward. She felt regret for her WHOLE life. Feeling bad that Mosskit died, missing her kits, and feeling bad that they didn’t know her. She was remorseful and regretful, she never really lived her life fully. She loved her clan, but she loved her kits more.
How are Bluestar and Leafpool are alike and different? Well both had to make a sacrifice for their clan. Bluestar wanted to be leader, and Leafpool wanted to continue being medic. Leafpool felt regret and missed their kits. A difference is that Bluestar only saw her kits at gatherings, and Leafpool saw them all the time. I think it would be harder for Leafpool because she would constantly see them and wish they knew. Another difference is that Bluestar’s kin never knew about her until she passed away; Leafpool’s kits on the other hand figured out before she passed away.
More about her and Tigerstar… Yes Tigerstar never gave away his kits, but he did do many things to become leader. Bluestar did give away her kits to become leader though, it seems she wanted to become leader very badly. As I said before, Bluestar felt remorse for giving away her kits. She also didn’t do as many drastic things as Tigerstar.
Bluestar was a great leader despite her flaws, and unlike Tigerstar felt remorse for things she had done. She leaded her clan to victory, and peace. Bluestar is truly someone to remember.
I love Bluestar! I think she was right to give away her kits. She did it for the good of the Clan.
And He Runs
Yeah! and also the other choice for deputy was thistleclaw and he would coat the forest in blood
first! haha! great article, but is it right for bleustar to give away her kits…? it was never really said in this article, but it was awesomen(correction:
pawesome)
Personally, I think the issue isn’t that Bluestar gave up her kits – There Parents will be unable to raise their children, it’ll happen sometimes. My main problem lies in Bluestar’s unnecessarily extreme methods. There were serval more obvious, easy and reasonable ways Bluestar could’ve of gone about it:
1)Getting another Queen to adopt her litter.
2) Tell Sunstar her concerns and dreams about Thistleclaw.
3) Became like Squirrelflight/Leafstar, leave the Nursery for warrior duties and return when the kits need their mother.
But regardless of all this, it is a simple fact that, that any adult, parent or stranger: Don’t sneak young children out of their warm shelter and into a blizzard. She intentionally made them go into a situation that could’ve of been feral. Though it was Goosefeather who pressured Bluestar to move her kits to Riverclan specifically. On top of that, he was too lazy to offer his help, so he’s partly to blame. However, Bluestar still made her own chooses: Such as not asking for Goosefeather’s aid, when another adult would’ve of made all the difference. Or to travel on the very night with a blizzard. She wasn’t being chased by an animal – Bluestar could’ve of waited another day for the weather to ease, yet didn’t.
So with all that, I do blame Bluestar for Mosskit’s death, it was unnecessary and a lot of it was down to her own recklessness. If she was a real person, she’d be in prison for voluntary manslaughter for pulling that stunt. Then while we’re at it, Goosefeather would be charged as well for inciting it.
I know how Bluestar and Tigerclaw were different. Bluestar only wanted to be deputy to save her clan from gaining a evil leader, Thistleclaw. She would never have given up her kits if she did not have visions of Thistleclaw destroying ThunderClan. Tigerclaw only wanted to be deputy so he could prove he was better than everyone else. He was selfish!! While, Bluestar was selfless.
Bluestar gave up her kits for a reason, for her Clan, and for the cats of the forest. She did the right, but painful thing. Nice article!
This is a great article and I loved the comparison between Bluestar and Leafpool. I think, although it made her sad, it has the right choice for the clan.
IF Snowfur was still alive, Bluestar would have gaven them to her.
I sort of agree with both sides of this argument.
Reasons for Bluestar to keep her kits:
Reasons for Bluestar to give them away:
Neither Bluestar or Leafpool did anything wrong! If Leafpool had stopped being a medicine cat to nurse a litter of kits, then the clan would have been left with no medicine cat what-so-ever since she was the only one. And if Bluestar had continued taking care of her kits, then Thistleclaw would have become deputy and eventually leader, and the clan would have suffered under his leadership.
She was right, in a way, to give up her kits. It was for the good of the Clan, and like Fireheart said, she always put her Clan first.
She’d seen Thistleclaw since kithood, and she knew Thistlestar wouldn’t work that nicely, and Sunstar would use up all his lives before Thistleclaw died, probably.
Bluestar wanted to keep her Clan safe, and she did the possible best thing.
I don’t think she just simply WANTED to be leader, neither did Leafpool. They weren’t “selfish” in that way, they just saw that they were needed in their Clan.
Nice article 🙂
I really like Bluestar! Great article!!!
I’m actually a little confused about something – even though Bluestar gave away her kits, why didn’t Sunstar choose Thistleclaw?
