In Defence of Crowfeather by Frozengaze

Frozengaze defends Crowfeather.

WARNING: Spoilers for season two

Crowfeather does not get the attention he deserves! His apprentice life was difficult. Like when WindClan had to drink on RiverClans territory, and then StarClan gave him and three other cats an ominous prophecy. That must’ve been pretty stressful, carrying the weight of StarClans will on your shoulders. And not to mention he had to work with cats that weren’t from WindClan to fulfil the prophecy. He had to go against the warrior code, and he was an apprentice too, so his Warrior name was on the line. And when tragedy strikes, the love of his life, Feathertail, is killed. In an act of pure love, he asks to name himself Crowfeather, after Feathertail, on his Warrior Ceremony. In the book Dawn, when Crowpaw almost dies, Brambleclaw and Squirelpaw ask him what he’s doing. He replies with “I’m not frightened of joining StarClan. The forest is dying anyway. At least in StarClan, Feathertail will be waiting for me!” This shows that he really loved Feathertail.
Later on, he develops a crush on Leafpool. It must have been hard for him to move on, but at least that shows that he’s a strong cat. He confesses to her after saving her from falling off the tall ledge of the ThunderClan camp. She is relieved he loves her. Crowfeather plans to run away from the Clans with her. She agrees, but soon realises that her heart is with her Clan. In Sunset, they break up the relationship. This must’ve hit Crowfeather hard, considering this is his second relationship gone. He has kits Hollykit, Jaykit and Lionkit.
Eventually he settles down with Nightcloud and has a kit, Breezekit (paw, pelt). He later has to intervene when Breezepelt is about to kill Lionblaze. Overall, his life was really rough, and I think that not enough people respect that the reason he’s so grouchy is because his life wasn’t easy. Sometimes I wonder if Nightcloud actually loved Crowfeather. And I wonder if the only reason Crowfeather became her mate was because he wanted to prove his loyalty to his Clan. I think that Feathertails death really hit him hard. Another reason he is grouchy was because he carried the future of his Clan with every paw step through season two. The forest was being destroyed, WindClan ran out of food, and they had to leave the forest. Yeah, that would’ve been hard.

Also this is my first Blog, so if there was anything I could’ve done better, please let me know. I hope you all enjoyed it.

  • Great article! I respectfully do not defend Crowfeather, but I really like your reasoning for why you do!

  • We can’t still say Crowfeather’s actions are 100% justified. It made a part on making Breezepelt evil, but I must say he made his own decision.

  • First of all, Crowfeather was really horrible to Nightcloud. In Crowfeather’s Trial, it is mentioned that he never cared about Nightcloud’s food or nest when she was PREGNANT! I don’t like Crowfeather, but still nice article! I love all your detailed points.

    • But it’s not like just he was horrible to her. She was extremely jealous of him, from what I know she taught Breezekit that he hated him, when in fact Crowfeather only didn’t visit his son that much because Nightcloud was scared he’d hurt him, and she also literally physically hurt him by dragging him away with teeth in his leg. She didn’t care about him that much either, she just wanted kits. They were just a disfunctional family, and I’d even say not caring about some food or nest is nothing compared to what she did.

  • Great article!

Things you could do better (since you asked):
I found some spelling errors along the way,
    making paragraphs is really important,
    you used some words twice,
near the end, you put one reason why Crow’ Feather is grouchy then talked about something else, then moved back to why he is grouchy.
Maybe you could put the two grouchy sentences together and put the other topic near the end?
Sorry if this sounds like I’m bombarding you with wrong things, so I’ll write good things.

    Things you did great:
    Nice points,
put it in order from what happened first, to last,
put in your own opinion and what you think about it,
    put a warning for spoilers,
put in quotes to support your topic,
said where your quotes came from,
started with a good topic sentence to start,
gave credit to the artist of the picture of Crow’ Feather,
    and used expressive words.

  • Its really good! If anything, Im a Crowfeather hater, but you showed some good points! Good job.
