What Is The Most Important Warrior Code? By Nightpaw

Nightpaw examines the Warrior code

Hi, this is Nightpaw and I will be talking about the most important warrior code.

So first, let’s review the warrior code.
1) Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan.
2) Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan’s territory.
3) Elders and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors.
4) Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.
5) A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
6) Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
7) A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.
8) The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies or retires.
9) After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.
10) A gathering of all Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among the Clans at this time.
11) Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
12) No warrior may neglect a kit in pain or in danger, even if that kit is from a different Clan.
13) The word of the Clan leader is the warrior code.
14) An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his/her battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or it is necessary for self-defense.
15) A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.

Let’s rule out the “least” important warrior codes, even though they are all important. I believe that 3) can be ruled out; this is important but this is more of a tradition than an important rule. We can also rule out 4); cats haven’t given thanks before but StarClan was mostly fine with it. We can also rule out 13), for obvious reasons. 15) is another one we can rule out because many warriors have become kittypets before and even though Clanmates were disappointed, StarClan accepted them. 7) is also another one, even though this is important for a good deputy it is still possible for the deputy to be a good leader in general.

So, let’s compare the ones we have left. 1), 2), 5), 6), 8), 9), 10), 11), 12), and 14). Let’s rule out again from here. I believe that 1) can be ruled out. Even though this has been broken quite a few times, most of the time good cats were born, and the cats were accepted back into their Clans. We can also rule out 8), it is an obvious rule that is important but a fact. 9) can be ruled out; the unfortunate situation happened with Brightwhisker, but that was just one bad-luck situation. 11) can be ruled out! Sometimes, trespassing cats come in peace and scent marks stay even if not marked daily.

Now, for the remaining, let’s compare situations where the code WAS broken. For 2), we got a battle. For 5), we got Brokenstar. For 6), we got crazy warriors that did all sorts of mouse-brained competitions. For 10), we got an entire war with all the Clans. For 12), we got dead kits that never got to be warriors or medicine cats. And for 14), we got a bunch of unnecessary deaths.

Even though it is very hard to choose, I believe that we can rule out 2), 12), and 6). Even though these are all very important codes, it is a tiny bit less important that the lives of all the Clans. (Hope I don’t sound selfish).

We have 5), 10), and 14) left now. 5) is of course very important and unnecessary kit deaths are not necessary, but a war of the entire Clans is much more serious. So, 10) beats 5). And even though the war of the entire Clans is seriously bad, there would be MUCH more deaths if 14) didn’t exist. So, and finally, 14) beats 10) and wins the round.

In conclusion, we have that code 14), an honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his/her battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or it is necessary for self-defense, as the most important warrior code!!! Thank you so much for reading.
