Why I Hate Graystripe and Silverstream’s Relationship by Riplepool

Riplepool shares their opinion on Graystripe and Silverstream’s relationship.

WARNING: spoilers for “Fire and Ice” and “Forest of Secrets”.

INFO: this is my first ever article I am writing for BlogClan to enjoy (hopefully it gets published). My name is Riplepool, and I am from SnowClan.

Graystripe and Silverstream- I don’t really like their relationship. I mean, it’s just plain out dumb of Graystripe to break the warrior code JUST for Silverstream. I have even more reasons.

1. Silverstream died having kits. Graystripe is all like, “Oooh, Fireheart guess what? Silverstream is going to have my kits!”, and then Graystripe killed Silverstream. (Yes, it is counted as a murder… I think.) Graystripe and Silverstream got so close that- du du du du- guess what? Silverstream got pregnant, and died while having her kits. Graystripe is all like, “Oooh, Fireheart guess what? Silverstream is going to have my kits!”, and them Graystripe. Then Graystripe buried her between ThunderClan and RiverClan territory. Once again, I have my breaking the warrior code problem. TWO DIFFERENT CLANS. Get with the program people (cats)! Also, Cinderpaw/pelt felt so bad about Silverstream dieing that she blamed herself for her dieing. It’s not your fault, Cindy! Cindy! Believe! You’re a good medicine cat apprentice, take my word for it! Just- ugh. Cinderpelt, calm down.

2. The warrior code. I know I have said this- one sec- one thousand times, but Graystripe and Silverstream’s relationship breaks the warrior code completely. Meeting each other in “secret”, and having kits. KITS. Graystripe, I know you’re in love, but please- *sigh*- just stop. Speaking of the warrior code, Cloudpaw isn’t obeying it very well either, but this is about Graystripe and Silverstream, not Fireheart’s kin. (If you would like me to do one about Cloudpaw/tail please comment for me to do so! Thank you!)

3. Graystripe betrayed his Clan and his friend, Fireheart. Graystripe didn’t tell his Clan, (ThunderClan), or his friend, Fireheart about him meating Silverstream. Fireheart finds out anyways, and so does the Clan. The Clan finds out chapters upon chapters after Fireheart does, but at least they find out at some point. Fireheart finds out by using his “I’m a wild kitty now” senses and finds out that Graystripe had been near some willow trees, which only grow in RiverClan territory. One day Fireheart actually followed Graystripe, and found out FOR SURE. He could’ve told the Clan, but he chose not to because he didn’t want to hurt his friend’s feelings. The Clan found out when Silverstream had her kits. I mean, how could you ignore a she-cat giving birth on your Clan border? I would realize it.

That is why I absolutely HATE Graystripe and Silverstream’s relationship. If you don’t agree, that’s okay because this is completely my own opinion. Hope you enjoyed! ❤️

  • Wow! Very neat! I do support GrayXSilver, but you made some good points! And, on Cloudtail, I’d be interested to see an article on him!

  • It’s not fair to condemn Graystripe for falling to Silverstream. Countless other cats fell for other cats outside the Clans, although I can understand that you don’t like drama involving forbidden relationships.

It’s also not fair to say that Graystripe killed Silverstream. He can be glad he has kits. It’s just a happening, an unfair happening, but an accident.

    • Hey Briarpaw. This is kind of off topic, but I was wondering if you were running for Deputy or Medicine Cat. You seemed like someone who would be good for that position

  • Great article!
    You made some good points.
Though I don’t think it’s fair to blame Greystripe. It defianlty isn’t his fault Silverstream died. He didn’t murder her. He loved her, and that’s it.
Anyways, great article, once again! 😀

  • I don’t like your logic because the warrior code is mousedung! Fun fact: Snowkit is brackenfurs uncle. He wanted to mentor his uncle

    • Unrelated but it is against BlogClan’s rules to share your email address(es) (i think there were like one or two exceptions but that was it.)

  • Great article, I agree! Though you can’t control your feelings and half-Clan relationships have happened before, I hate GrayxSilver the most simply because of how UNLOYAL Graystripe is. He fights Fireheart in his own Clan, joins RiverClan to “be with his kits”, and then refuses to fight Fireheart in RiverClan? Choose a side, seriously! And the half-Clan stuff with Silverstream just proves this even more. Also, Silverstream honestly really annoys be in this situation, saying that it’s fine because her father is the Clan leader. Sorry for the ramble, great article!

  • Yeah… no. First of all, Silverstream and Greystripe were in LOVE. I don’t want to sound cheesy here, but love is important, and saying that he murdered her is plain wrong(and kind of disturbing). Plus, by now the warrior code has been broken so much times it’s basically tradition. And finally, Graystripe never betrayed his clan. He only wanted to be with his mate and kits. Plus, he only joined Riverclan to be with Stormfur and Feathertail, and couldn’t fight his own clan in the end. Sorry if I sound harsh, but it’s been a long day. Nice article though.

  • I do have to admit that both Graystripe and Silverstream were, as they say, “young and restless” during that point in their lives. If I were to compare them to a human’s age, I would say they were probably in their late teens, which means that they were prone to making naïve decisions. We all know those types of people. In fact, perhaps some of us out there are those types of people ourselves. We underestimate the long-term effects of the decisions we made in the present, and then later end up being horrified by the end result. I should say that when Graystripe decided to have kits with Silverstream, he was not thinking clearly about his kits’ own futures, and I’m sure he not once anticipated the possibility of Silverstream dying during childbirth–so to say that he killed her would be a bit of a stretch.

In short, they were both in the wrong, and their actions indeed led up to a tragedy. But can’t we say the same for any cat? Which cat in the books haven’t broken the warrior code at one point in their life? For it is not right, Riplepool, that you should judge Graystripe and Silverstream without judging Crowfeather and Leafpool, or Bluestar and Oakheart, or Tigerstar and Dovewing, or Cloudberry and Ryewhisker, or Fallowtail and Reedfeather.

But one thing’s for sure is this: without this union between Graystripe and Silverstream, there would be no Stormfur or Feathertail.

    • I never shipped that because Graystripe kinda betrayed Silverstream’s starclan spirit, and yet when Millie is sick, Silverstream tells starclan she needs to live so Graystripe’s heart isn’t broken again, which is so sweet. She was willing to keep Graystripe happy, even though it wasn’t with her. Silverstream is an awesome cat.

  • No hate on SilverXGray shippers, I don’t like it that much.
Well, you made good points but I disagree with some.
I think it is to rushed and I just don’t like it for some reason.
