Elections, Day 12: Wrap Up!

And that’s a wrap, folks!

Hey, everyone! Welcome to the penultimate elections post for 2021. Get hyped! The polls have closed, the votes have been cast, and we are nearly ready to share the results with you!

But first, let’s officially wrap up this election with a recap! We had 11 lovely candidates for Medicine Cat and Deputy, before narrowing the pool down to 3 candidates for each.

Last year, we had 100 voters for the first round of Medicine Cat elections and 101 for Deputy! This year, we more than doubled those numbers! There were 258 votes on the first Medicine Cat polls, and 252 votes on the first Deputy polls! Did you find it difficult to vote? I certainly did

Our finalists moved on to the next and last round of voting, where we each had just one vote. (Making voting for this round even harder than the previous one 😛 ). For round 2, there were 121 votes cast for each! Wow! Congratulations to Mapledrift, Goldenfawn, Viperfrost, Emberdawn, Cheetahspark, and Owlnose for moving on! And a big congratulations to all of our other candidates – you all rock 😀

Before we announce the new Medicine Cat and Deputy tomorrow, let’s take a moment to thank Iceflower and Emberdawn for their roles as Medicine Cat and Deputy, respectively; you two have been exceptional leaders and members of this community. Thank you for devoting so much time to being here! We really appreciate the time and energy you spend making the community so special.

Emberdawn

I think that, without a doubt, BlogClan is a special place for a lot of people. I’m no exception to that! I threw myself headfirst into this wonderful little community back when I was in my second iyear of high school, and here I am, entering my third year of university 5 years later. It’s amazing how much time has passed and how much of an impact the blog has had on my life and the lives of others.

5 years ago, I didn’t know much at all about the LGBTQ+ community. 

5 years ago, I had all but given up on my writing. 

5 years ago, I couldn’t even imagine myself being a moderator.

5 years later, the blog has taught me, inspired me, and gave me so many opportunities to grow as a person.

The blog has seen me through a lot of changes in my life, a lot of ups and more downs than I would’ve liked, but I’m still going strong because of the support I’ve found in old and new friends that I’ve made on the blog. For so many years, the blog has been a constant in my life, even with all the re-hauls and changes we’ve had to make to it, and I hope that it will continue to be one for all of you in the years to come. Regardless of the results of this election, whether I get to continue being your deputy or not, it really does make me happy to support you all from behind-the-scenes as a moderator just as you’ve all supported me, even if you didn’t even realize it.

Hi everyone! I’d like to start by saying thank you for letting me serve as BlogClan’s medicine cat for the past two years. I love the sense of warmth and community here, and I’m glad I got to be a part of it. To our future new medicine cat and deputy, I know you two will do great! All of our finalists are driven and caring, and I know that whoever is elected will carry that sense of passion with them over the next two years. I have complete faith in our finalists and I know that our new medicine cat and deputy will go on to make BlogClan an even better place. I’m so proud of all of you and lucky to call you my friends.

Thank you everyone for participating in the 2021 elections! I’ve had a ton of fun and I hope you all have, too! To all our candidates: thank you so much for offering up your time to answer all the hustings questions and just being a wonderful member of our community. To whomever our incoming Deputy and Medicine Cat turns out to be: Congratulations, and I’m sure you’ll do a wonderful job acting as leaders for our community! <3
