Swanflight defends Ivypool
So a lot of people hate Dovewing (like me) and love Ivypool (also like me) but then some people love Dovewing and hate Ivypool. Today, I’m going to explain why you should hate ovewing and why Ivypool is the best. *WARNING* Contains spoilers of Omen of the stars and Tigerheart’s shadow.
Dovewing, facts, thoughts, and why I hate her
1. She never cared what Ivypool felt. See, Dovepaw wanted to tell Ivypaw about the prophecy so that DOVEPAW could keep her friend. And if Dovepaw had been more aware of Ivypaw’s feelings, she would have at least tried to explain some part of what was happening, and then Ivypool would never have gone to the darkforest. I know what your thinking: But actully Dovewing did us a favor by making Ivypaw go to the dark forest! Now we have a spy! Ya, no. ANYONE could have spied. They could have hired Birchfall or Blossomfall to spy. I mean, it isnt hard to tell if someone is going to the dark forest… Just look at their fur when they come out of the den! Dovewing thought she had to protect Ivypaw from the darkforest, but ivypaw was PERFECTLY CAPABLE of protecting herself!
2. Dovepaw never did anything. Let me explain this. Okay, she idid tons of things, but not in the way i mean. When Ivypaw was mad that Dovepaw never went on dawn patrol and got special treatment. I mean, sure she WISHED Brambleclaw would put her on equeal patrols as Ivypaw but she never ONCE got off her tail and asked Brambleclaw if she could go on dawn patrol on a rainy day. Oh no, she just let it happen. (I am soooo sorry your sister was like this Ivypool!) Also, Dovewing just whined to herself that it was soooo annoying that she had to be in a prophecy “Oh im special its the worst. can’t i just have a normal life?!” and pointless relationships, (TigerXDove….ewwwwwww) while Ivypool risked her life EVERY SINGLE NIGHT so that the clans would not be completely demolished. Curse you lazy bones whiny Dovewing.
3. She only wanted what was bst for HER. Like in the section above, she only wanted to tell Ivypaw about the prophecy so that SHE could keep her friend. Dovewing kept going out with Tigerheart even though Ivypool was trying to protect her by telling her not to. Ivypool was DEVESTATED when her sister left for the city, but did Dovewing care? Nooooo. She left anyways, without even saying GOODBYE. Like what the…. Dude, are you trying to pull a No-Good-bye Leafpool? Plus, Dovewing still left for Shadowclan. Couldn’t she like stay with her kits in thunderclan then when they are older, and her family in thunderclan is ready to accept her departure then she could leave for Shadowclan. She never even CONSIDERED hwo her PARENTS felt. She was like “i’m so sorry” to Ivypool, but I don’t think she even said GOODBYE to Birchfall and Whitewing.
Ivypool, facts, thoughts and why I love her
1. She had the right too. She had all the rights to be jealous of Dovepaw. Dovepaw was getitng pulled aside by her CLAN LEADER and Ivypaw just wanted to be as good as her sister. Totally natrual. Dovepaw never considered WHY Ivypaw was so easy to fool by the Dark Forest. She was only like ” They are EVIL. You mouse-brain how can you trust them!” but its Dovepaw’s own fault. Dovepaw only ever considered that Ivypaw WENT. Not WHY she went. And honestly, I don’t blame Ivypaw for going. If someone came to my dreams and taught me how to get as much attenion and be as good as my sister, I would TOTALLY accept. When you have a sibling you always want to be the best for your parents. So Ivypaw had all the right in the world to want to accept Hawkfrost’s invitation. How should she know he was evil? And Tigerstar is a good liar. Do you expect her to be a cat lie detector?
2. She wasnt the only one. they didn’t just trick Ivypool. They tricked: Beetlenose, Iceing, Hollowflight, Sunstrike, Furzepaw, Boulderpaw, Antpelt, Birchfall, Blossomfall, and either Mousewhisker or Thornclaw, Redwillow, Ratscar and Applefur. BOOM. In Omen of the Stars it says it’s Mousewhisker, but in Bramblestar’s storm it says Thornclaw was in the Dark Forest. I didn’t list Breezepelt because he always knew what they intedned to do. He was never TRICKED. But still. You can’t expect them to know what’s happening unless the cats tell them DIRECTLY. I mean, look how good a liar Tigerstar is: He was able to trick Bluestar into thinking he was innocent and did NOT kill anyone. So, you can expect a lot of cats to fall for his tricks.
3. She put her clan first. Okay, so what, Dovewing could hear the dark forest coming. Shortly after she ABANDON her CLAN and FAMILY for literally the most arragont shadowclan tom EVER. Ivypool, fought the Dark Forest, risked her life to spy on them, chose a mate IN THE CLAN, tried to veer her sister away from disloyalty to the clan, mentored Twigbranch willingly, even though she was not technecally thunderclan. (Via Blood andn kin) When life gave Ivypool lemons, she tried to make lemonade. WHen life gave Dovewing lemons, she usally rubbed them in her wounds and made them worse.
Also this is one last fact: Dovepaw yelled at her and said she was traitor to her clan for going to the Dar FOrest, but then like two days later Dovepaw sneaked out of camp in the middle of the night to meet a shadowclan cat…. like who’s the traitor now, Dovewing?
Tell me what you think of this article and weather or not you agree! Also I’d like to know if this helped convince you that Ivypool is the best!
1. No, I’m not going to say that; I’m going to say Jayfeather and Lionblaze forced her not to tell anyone. Anyone. Dovepaw wanted to tell Ivypaw. But Jayfeather and Lionblaze insisted she couldn’t. It’s a natural instinct, wanting to protect people you care about.
2. Really, what could Dovewing do? An apprentice, or a newbie warrior ordering the Clan deputy around? Yes, Dovewing was in a special prophecy and was restrained from a lot of stuff by it. It’s not a competition. Ivypool had her own things in the Dark Forest and Dovewing had hers.
3. You’re not thinking about Dovewing here. Should Dovewing sacrifice everything she wants just to please Ivypool, Birchfall and Whitewing? She should be allowed to do what she wants. And it’s rather unnatural if you think “Because Ivypaw can’t lose me-“, and it would come off as selfish. I think this kind of contradicts your point earlier about how Ivypool can protect herself because this comes off to me that Dovewing would try to protect Ivypool.
1. I can understand why Ivypaw was jealous but she handled it in a very bad way. She heard tales about these evil cats, who they’re psychotic murderers, and knows they’re training her to kill.
2. I’m not blaming Ivypool for being deceived by them 🙂
3. Ivypool and Dovewing’s situations and personalities are different.
TRUE! I like both sisters, but Dovewing is the best one.
how?
Great article! 😀
Great article, but I disagree. Strongly. First of all, it’s understandable that Ivypool was tricked, but the thing is, even after being told about the DF, she still held loyalty to it. Like, come on. Also, just because there are reasons for her to be jealous doesn’t mean she has to be all boo hoo hoo, my sister has powers and I don’t, let me be rude and brusque to her even though she needs support. And yes, she did put her clan first, but so did Dovewing. In fact, she actually broke up with Tigerheart and tried, tried to maintain a relationship with Bumblestripe but it never worked out. You can’t deny true love, can you? (Wow that sounded cheesy) Anyway, for Dovewing, I don’t even know what friend you’re talking about, because it sure isn’t Ivypool. Also, Ivypool is definitely not capable of defending herself. This is one thing I find annoying about her- her fighting skills are WAY overrated. She was unable to defeat an already wounded Hawkfrost by herself, and was defeated effortlessly by a pretty B-list villain(Thistleclaw). Also, what do you mean she never did anything? She was in my opinion, a better spy than Ivypool, because she actually told the Three important stuff instead of useless things. Yes, she was kind of cold when she eloped, but seriously. Staying in Thunderclan longer what only make the departure hurt even more. Better to just get it over with.
Wow, I got to comment first! I totally agree with you. Also, this article is great!
I like Dovewing and Ivypool, but I like Ivypool more.
Hello nice article, but I disagree.
1. Dovewing does care about Ivypool. She literally yells at Lionblaze and Jayfeather because she thinks they want to use her. Secondly, as a kit/young apprentice she clearly wants to be with her sister as shown in the fourth apprentice. Also, when a RiverClan warrior yells at Ivypaw, Dovewing is highly indignant for her sister. Also, I feel like you are a bit cherry picking here. Can apprentices even choose their own patrols? I think nope.
2. Yes Ivypool’s a hero and yada, yada, BUT Dovewing plays a huge roll. She provides Ivypool with a source of comfort and protection. She also alerts the clan leaders of the threat at that limited gathering. She strains to hear in the forest to show the mouse brains what is happening. And Ivypool isn’t a great spy. She is always like there is nothing to tell you, I won’t tell you the names of the trainees, EVEN THOUGH THERE HAS BEEN A HUGE EVENT! Plus Ivypool, especially paw, is a whiner too. She storms around the camp all the time while Dovepaw is on her journey. And its not like siblings always go together! She whines about having to build dens, and lots more.
3. She is NOT selfish. She leaves because she knows that she would be treated badly, and is worried about her kits safety. In Tawnypelt’s clan, she risks her life to save the tribe. She states she feels guilty about how she left.
???? Comfort? I don’t think Dovewing comforted Ivypool because she just got more sad after everytime.
First comment? Great article! I love Ivypool too, but I have to disagree with some of the points you said about Dovewing. Dovewing did care about Ivypool, and she was worried about her sister training with the dark forest. Dovewing felt like her kits were in danger and kept having terrible nightmares. She had a reason to leave. I do love both of them though. I’m too lazy to write a full defence article on Dovewing
Dovewing never used her powers for the benefit of her clan. She accidentally discovered that the water was blocked by the beavers and freed it. She did it to test her powers, not because she wanted to. She only used her powers for her clan when Firestar and the Three asked her to use it. Other than that, her own powers were primarily used to figure out what Tigerheart is doing. All we hear from her is Tigerheart in the books. I understand that all the Three are like that, but Dovewing is the one who mostly uses powers for her own good.
Dovewing tells Ivypool right in the face that she is better compared to her. Dovewing is well aware that it is her power that makes her talented, but she chose to use this as an excuse to taunt Ivypool about her abilities. Dovewing does nothing but get her powers to work for her, while Ivypool works tirelessly to improve. Pointing fingers at someone is very rude, and being compared is even worse. Ivypool has been constantly compared in her life. Dovewing has no idea that she is being rude to her, and it is hurting Ivypool’s feelings.
She tells Ivypool that she is disloyal, but Dovewing is also breaking the code by meeting off to see Tigerheart in the night. Hypocrite right there. The code does not state anything about don’t training with Tigerstar, but it does state that a cat cannot love a cat from another clan. Even though it was common knowledge that Tigerstar was evil, most of the Dark Forest trainers were brainwashed in a young age and believe they are only training to become better warriors. The Three was the only one to know this, so Dovewing can’t blame Ivypool for not knowing.
Despite the fact that she is respected within the clan, she expresses her dissatisfaction with everything. She complains about the fact that she possesses supernatural powers and that her mentor is bossy. She complains about the fact that Bumblestripe is romantically interested in her and went to see Tigerheart. This is unreasonable because love is hard to control. He isn’t putting any pressure on her. Dovewing should have said that Bumblestripe is just a friend to him if she didn’t like him. Every cat should respect her, according to Dovewing.
I think she was also cheating. (kind of)
Mellowix’s comment:
It’s not Dovewing’s fault that she didn’t love Bumblestripe – But it was her fault, when she chooses to lie that did have feelings and admitted the truth for seasons on end. She said she loved him, but kept on acting distant and he didn’t know why. He falsely assumed he was doing something wrong, when it was the other way round.
She even became his mate for a time, yet constantly was thinking and meeting Tigerheart behind his back. I’d argue Dovewing was literally cheating on him
I agree with this. I don’t like Dovewing, and I don’t like Ivypool either.
I love both of them with my heart, so I’ll try and defend Dovewing
1. Dovewing is an empath, but she leads a completely different life to Ivypool. She has just a big moral compass (bigger than Ivypool’s) and she can’t fathom why Ivypool would let Hawkfrost trick her. She doesn’t undertstand what the Dark Forest is like (which is partly Ivypool’s fault, because she didn’t feed back as much information as she should have)
2. Dovewing gave water back to the Clans and gave the Clans about 1 hour to prepare for attack (Ivypool didn’t know EXACTLY when they were going to attack). She also had a very complex love and social life
3. Dovewing put so much of her life aside of these powers, that she deserved to find happiness with Tigerheart. She would’ve been unhappy around Bumblestripe, and if Tigerheart was what made happy, then Tigerheart is what she deserved 🙂
BUt if she didn’t love bumblestripe, she could have told him, but ShE had to hurt his feelings by leaving suddenly.
Bumblestripe didn’t really give her a chance to tell her. He never accepted no for an answer and they’d broken up fully when he kept trying to ask her out, including at Purdy’s funeral which is a horrible person move. She moved to ShadowClan I think bc ultimately, if she told anyone, they would’ve just stopped her and guilt tripped her into staying. It wasn’t 100% morally correct on her end, but she very obviously didn’t belong in ThunderClan, but i see what you’re saying 🙂
I completely agree
Dovewing can be a spoiled brat in the books and ivypool should have been the fourth cat in the prophecy
AHHHH I HATE DOVEWING AND LOVE IVYPOOL TOO! GREAT ARTICLE!
