Songs That Fit Warriors by Briarpaw

Briarpaw shares some songs that match characters and scenarios from the series.

I’ve been meaning to write this article for a while and I’m finally getting to it!

I think it’s self-explanatory.

1- Eastside by Benny Blanco, Halsey, and Khalid (Lionpaw x Heatherpaw)

This song is about running away and meeting with each other. They used to be young and free. Now they have their own families but still think back to the times when they were together. Lionpaw and Heatherpaw were young and playful and didn’t really realize the consequences of their actions.

Some of the Lyrics (these are different parts of the song, not consecutive lyrics):

Oh no, your daddy didn’t like me much
And he didn’t believe me when I said you were the one
Oh, every day she found a way out of the window to sneak out late (this is about Hollyleaf disapproving of the relationship but them still meeting anyway)

Baby, you know I just wanna leave tonight
We can go anywhere we want
Drive down to the coast, jump in the seat
Just take my hand and come with me, yeah (about their freedom)

Seventeen and we got a dream to have a family
A house and everything in between
And then, oh, suddenly we turned twenty-three
Now we got pressure for taking our life more seriously (about their breakup, they realized it wasn’t working)

2- Roots by Imagine Dragons (Mothwing)

Okay I will admit I didn’t really read Mothwing’s novella, I just know the gist of it. Mothwing keeps getting her faith shattered but continues to be a medicine cat. She finally believes in StarClan after seeing her brother Hawkfrost in the Dark Forest. The song Roots perfectly fits that because it’s about losing your beliefs and going to your roots instead.

Again, the lyrics are from different parts of the song, not consectutive

Has made me lose my belief
I’m going back to my roots

3- Hey Look Ma, I Made It by Panic! At The Disco (Scourge)

As soon as I listened to it I knew this was a perfect song for Scourge. Take a look at the chorus:

Are you ready for the sequel?
Ain’t you ready for the latest?
In the garden of evil
I’m gonna be the greatest
In a golden cathedral
I’ll be praying for the faithless
And if you lose, boo-hoo
Hey look ma, I made it

He’s saying he’ll be the most evil cat, that he’ll be the greatest. The “I’ll be praying for the faithless” line works because Scourge does not believe in any sort of divine being. He rules BloodClan with cruelty, hence the “”if you lose, boo-hoo” line. And he’s always proving to his mother Quince that he can make it, that he made it, that he didn’t get thrown in a river and that he is strong.

Another part of the song that fits Scourge:

Some are loyal soldiers
While these other thorns are rosy
And if you never know who you can trust
Then trust me you’ll be lonely, oh

4- I’m Still Standing by Elton John (Ashfur)

He wants to prove that he is better than Squirrelflight, that she hurt him, and that he will hurt her back. I know this song is mostly a positive song but I could see it used for a villain as well! I think it’s perfect for Ashfur, but the lyrics will explain better than I can.

You could never know what it’s like

And there’s a cold lonely light that shines from you
You’ll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use
And did you think this fool could never win?
Well look at me, I’m coming back again
I got a taste of love in a simple way

Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid

5- You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful by One Direction (Brightheart x Cloudtail)

I thought this song was perfect for them because Cloudtail loves Brightheart because of who she is and didn’t stop loving her even when she got attacked by dogs and half of her face was badly injured. She thought down on herself but Cloudtail brought her out of her shell and led her to become more confident in herself.
