Rose’Paw shares their opinion on Firestar.
Hi, I’m Rose’Paw! Thank you for looking into my article and I really hope you like it. It’s my first article so i’m sorry if it’s completely terrible. I tried my hardest.
Enough chit-chat, let’s start already!
First of all, let’s get to the topic. Firestar. I think he’s a total gary sue. Sure, he has some kittypet roots, but we’ll talk about that later.
He was the cat of the “Fire will save the clan” prophecy. Some people may not think that, but it’s okay to disagree with this point, but he was a kittypet. At the time Spottedleaf retrieved this, he was still a plump kittypet tom with no idea of the clans or the outside world. Doesn’t that make him seem a little too special? I personally thought it should have been some other loyal, senior warrior to have this prophecy.
In the begging, I loved him because he brought us into the world of warriors. He learned quickly the ways of the clans. But was it a little too fast? He learned how to hunt basically in a couple days and he adjusted to life as a wild cat far too quickly. I believe that the Erins just wanted to make him seem special. It was like he was never a kittypet ever, and I think that makes him a little too perfect for my liking. Anyways, let’s get to the next point.
The prophecies.
Don’t you just think it takes away from the Power of three prophecy? I mean, he already got his own prophecy dedicated to him. Why ruin Jayfeather, Lionblaze’s and Dovewing’s? I think the Erins just wanted to make him more special and perfect than he already is. The last moment he came in and was like, “Hey guys, im even more of a gary sue because i just crashed your prophecy!” Like, why would you include him? He did nothing. In my opinion he didn’t need to be in there, it just ruined it all.
So, in conclusion, the Erins tried too hard to make him perfect and I don’t know why anyone likes him at this point. Also, I think he is kind of dumb. He has a loyal mate but is still padding after some dead she cat. I would go on, but that will (Hopefully) be in a different article. Anyways, thank you for reading my first article, I hope you liked it and sorry if you don’t agree with me, this is all just my opinion and it’s not my job to change your mind. Bye guys! Rose’Paw out!
Interesting article rosepaw! I do like firestar, even though he’s shown to have traits of a gary sue. He just is really likable to me, then again that is just my opinion.
And I do agree with the fourth cat prophecy, it should have been another cat such as breezepelt.
This was a well written article Rosepaw! But I disagree with you. Firestar is my favorite character, and I don’t think he is a Gary Sue at all.
Ya, he does have flaws!
Yes I completely agree! I thought and was hoping that the fourth cat was going to be Hollyleaf, Ivypool, or maybe even Sol! And then they said it was Firestar and I was like, “Why this guy again…?” And he arguably has faults since he sometimes is too reckless and makes split-second decisions without thinking, but the thing that bugs me in the books is that this is never really portrayed as a fault since his split-second decisions are always… Right. This was very well written! :]
Great article! I agree with you Rosepaw.
Sorry but i disagree with you. No warriors character is a Mary Sue/Gary Stu, and there never will be one. I respect your opinions tho.
I totally agree! Every cat has his or her faults, and like in the real world, no one’s perfect.
Yeah! 😀
This is a great article, and you have some wicked noticeable reasons, but I have to disagree. Well, sort of. In the series where Firestar has the main POV, he is a wonderfully portrayed and faulted character. However, whenever we read another character’s POV on him, it’s mostly portrayed as a Gary Stu. There are moments where it’s not, but most of the time it is. In my mind, it’s how you look at the POV.
Nice article! However, I disagree with you.
i completely agree with you on all parts. It’s totally completely un-natural for a kittypet with no forest experiance to learn so quickly, and also crashing Jay, Holly, and Lion’s prophecy was not cool. I also agree with the Spottedleaf and Firestar thing. Poor Sandstorm!
Nice article! I believe he wasn’t a Gary Stu, he was nosy, stubborn, sometimes a coward, very demanding (all the time), strong-willed, and so on. I actually find him pretty relatable 😉
The reason Firestar was the subject of the first prophecy was because (Somebody states at some point) he was a kittypet. He wasn’t bound by these old traditions or this stupid image, a loyal image of Tigerclaw. He wasn’t bound by the warrior code as badly and could act for what he believed without pondering everything: But this is against the warrior code!
No he did not.
Jessy didFirestar didn’t ruin Jayfeather, Lionblaze and Dovewing’s prophecy. What makes you say that? I really can’t understand.
He has likable flaws :p He can be dumb. That makes him not a Gary Stu, honestly. Huh, I think he’s kind of dropped it.
Great article! <3
Though I do agree with what Sunny Cat said: No one is really a Mary Sue or Gary Stu. They all have their faults and strengths.
But you made some amazing points and I love your article! <3
1. what is a gary sue?
2. if a gary sue is a bad thing, i so do not agree.
3. even if i dont agree, great debate!
1. A Gary Sue/Stu is a male character with no flaws (A Mary Sue is the female version)
2. It is considered a bad thing
3. You don’t agree. But it was a pretty good article! 😉
Him being a kittypet doesn’t make him a Gary Stu. Sandpaw, Dustpaw, and Longtail bullied him for being a kittypet. And who wants to read it if there is no prophecy? It’s like reading Harry Potter without Harry Potter.
