Cadvent Day 3

Good morning! I hope you slept well.

I am about to take my first Uber. Take? Is that the right word? Use my first Uber? Do my first Uber? The Uber language is alien to me. Most importantly, I am VERY anxious. I’ve never Ubered before. I prefer to be the driver, not the driven. My Uber driver is 9 minutes away. I can see him on a map driving toward me and I feel rather like that character at the beginning of the Jaws movie, swimming in the sea while a great white shark heads toward them like a guided missile with teeth. Except the swimmer is oblivious to their impending doom, and my shark is probably a very nice person; people usually are. I will tell myself this until my Uber arrives and it will make me feel calmer.

The best thing about the Holidays for me is taking some time out for all the anxieties and stresses of everyday life, and feeling beautifully relaxed because everyone around me is taking a break too. It’s such a relief that the world seems to pause and take a breath and focus on what is really important about being alive – friends, family, love, peace and kindness. All the striving and competing, which we impose on ourselves and each other for the rest of the year can, for a few days, be set aside.

So here is a little sparkle and love and kindness for you. Accept these pictures as a hug from a person who understands how hard it can sometimes be to be human and who is as relieved as you are to pause for a moment and simply enjoy.

Our first picture is a drawing by Strawberrypaw called Strawberry cocoa. I hope there’s marshmallow in that cocoa. Such a lovely picture! I feel warm and cosy just looking at it. 💖☃️🌟
