Winterclaw argues that Bumblestripe would be better for Dovewing than Tigerheart
Hi everyone, I’m Winterclaw, I’m here today to share my opinion on who would be a better mate for Dovewing, Tigerstar II or Bumblestripe.
In case you don’t know, Tigerstar II is the son of Tawnypelt and Rowanstar. Bumblestripe is the son of Graystripe and Millie, and the sibling of Briarlight and Blssomfall.
Okay, so I’ll start with Tigerstar. I feel that he is NOT suitable mate for Dovewing because of several reasons. When Tigerstar (Tigerheart that time) first met Dovewing (Dovepaw that time), the clans were solving the ‘beaver’ mystery. At that time, Tigerstar HAD NOT even met or even said something to Dovewing, and he still behaved like her closest clanmate. Dovewing felt like she was in unwanted presence.
Since then, Tigerstar started meeting her on secret, until Ivypool came to know about it. So, Dovewing and Tigerstar’s relationship was close, BUT, Tigerstar and Dovewing BROKE the warrior code. It states that NO cat should be mating across clans. It might seem like it was going to be sad for Dovewing, But it doesn’t stop here.
Let me talk about Bumblestripe now. Dovewing still had a suitable tom in ThunderClan. Ivypool said:
“Are you two going to be mates? You two will have the cutest kits together!”
,after knowing that Dovewing and Bumblestripe went for a walk at night. However I am not sure that what she said is true, but there’s one thing I can make certain- Bumblestripe loved Dovewing, he EVEN told Whitewing how much he liked her. Bumblestripe is a perfect candidate for this- he didn’t break the warrior code, and he is in the same clan as Dovewing.
But what’s worse is that Tigerstar STOLE Dovewing from Bumblestripe. All of you might have known that Bumblestripe was kind of like Dovewing’s mate during the Vision Of Shadows, but since Tigerheart (at that time) and Rowanstar went to seek help from ThunderClan, Dovewing started to treat Bumblestripe like a stranger, and was like closer to Tigerstar, and resulted in them becoming mates, and even had kits!
I believe that Bumblestripe and Dovewing could have kits together but it’s kind of like all Tigerstar’s fault that that didn’t happen. If any of you read Mapleshade Vengeance, you might know that this “mate” incident did happen to Mapleshade, where Appledusk mated Reedshine instead of her. Therefore, In my opinion, Bumble stripe would be a better mate for Dovewing.

(SPOILER WARNING FOR THE BROKEN CODE)I love Tiger and Dove sooooo much! I hate the warrior code like alot(sorry Hollyleaf) and I’m glad they changed it in A Light In the Mist! I don’t like Bumblestripe because welll… he’s abusive, he’s clingy, he’s downright awful to Dovewing after she leaves and no, he isn’t ‘depressed’ because he got dumped, he shoved Dovewing into an unhealthy realationship and treated her like trash after he left him. That’s wrong, not as bad as Ashfur but still… wrong.

Bumblestripe would of been a terrible mate because he was way too needy and pushy. I don’t know if you remember, but Bumblestripe asked Dovewing about kits at Purdy’s funeral, and Dovewing liked Purdy a lot. Bumblestripe would of been a good mate if he just stopped doing stupid needy things that would actually hurt Dovewing. Don’t take this as hate, but Dovewing rejected Bumblestripe, she wasn’t coming crawling back to him, and a kit could see that.
Don’t get me wrong, I hate Dove x Tiger2, but she is better off without anyone, needy or not.

I don’t like Bumble x Dove. She was hardly interested in him, but her Clanmates were pressuring her into mating him! Then they treated her like trash when she tried to refuse. Her heart always lay with Tigerheart, but cats around her forced her into a relationship she didn’t want to be in.
Yeah, Bumblestripe would really not have been a good mate given on how needy he is, yet everyone beats Tigerheart up, even though he was gentle to Dovewing and a really good father, what’s up with that?
The issue with Bumblestripe is that he didn’t respect Dovewing, though. And Tigerheart didn’t really steal her away, Dovewing was in love with him the whole time. Overall, their relationship is just much healthier (though not perfect) even if it breaks the Warrior Code.
Nice article! 😀 I agree that Tigerheart/star is from a different Clan and their relationship shouldn’t exist, according to the Warrior Code, but I ship Tiger x Dove. (no offense though! ^^) But in my opinion, since Dovewing loves Tigerheart/star, not Bumblestripe, she wouldn’t ever be truly happy with Bumblestripe.

Nice article, but I disagree. I don’t think either of them are good mates for Dovewing, since she’d have to actually like Bumblestripe first. (so their love is only one sided.)
The warrior code isn’t fair. You can’t control who you love. It’s like, if you have a crush on someone and your friend tells you that they are super annoying, you’re not just gonna stop liking them just like that. Plus, Bumblestripe was kind of trying to control Dovewing, is what it looked like. AND WHAT WAS THAT SCENE AT PURDY’S FUNERAL I MEAN WHAT?!? In my opinion, the she-cats should get the most say if they try to have kits, because they’re the ones who have to put up with the pain during the birth, stay in the nursery with them for 6 moons (half a year, people. Two seasons is a long time for a cat, given how long they live.) And watch them all the time. (I mean, I would want to have kits, but that doesn’t mean Dovewing did)
And how is it Tigerheart/star’s fault that he wasn’t born in the same Clan as Dovewing? It’s also annoying how Bumblestripe felt like he had to be by her side always. It even made him be rude to his sister (Blossomfall, that is) during training. Does anyone else remember that? They were doing a training session and Blossomfall asked Bumblestripe to be her partner, and he told her no just because he wanted to be Dovewing’s partner. I mean, just because you like someone doesn’t mean you have to ignore everyone else. And it made Blossomfall feel bad. Dovewing even said it was alright with her if the littermates partnered, but Bumblestripe said Blossomfall was being ridiculous. How is that ridiculous???
Tigerheart never tried to make decisions for her, and Dovewing liked him. Even if you don’t think he’s great, doesn’t Dovewing get a say? She’s the one who’ll have to spend her life with one of them.
Anyway, sorry for the super-long rant. (Maybe I should write an article defending the Tiger2Dove ship)

Fair, but Bumblestripe got a little obsessed with Dovewing; now don’t get me wrong, he wasn’t like Ashfur, he got over it, but still, he got mad at her for her basically saying she wasn’t ready or sure she wanted to be his mate. You make a fair point though. If she had accepted him as a mate she might have fallen in love with him anyway, but she DIDNT, and then we get into Tigerheart’s Shadow and so on and so forth.
NEITHER! Bumblestripe was pushy and didn’t understand Dove’s needs, and Tigerheart is an arrogant, entitled, foxheart who doesn’t deserve anything (he literally became leader of Shadowclan after abandoning his own clan)! Dovewing is basically my least favorite character, I might add.
Great article! Although I don’t really think that Bumblestripe OR Tigerstar II would be a good mate for her. I think Dovewing would have been better off by herself, in all honesty. Tigerstar II didn’t “steal” her, because you can’t really steal a person\cat. He did use her quite a bit though, which is NOT ok! Bumblestripe, like Ashfur, only had an obsession with Dovewing, and was way to pushy and didn’t really care about her feelings.
I am so a DovexBumble shipper because has anyone actually thought about what would have happened if Dovewing were with Bumblestripe?
Dovewing would be in a relationship that she was unhappy in, and have children with a tom she didn’t love or want kits with. It is not a good situation.
