Flintpaw argues these characters are overrated
Hi! I’m Flintpaw, or Flinty, and I welcome you to my third article! Today, I will be listing 10 cats from Warriors that I think are overrated. Hope you like it!
10. Crowfeather
I mainly think he’s overrated because he was with both Feathertail AND Leafpool. This is why everybody likes him so much, when there is so much more about him. Also, he has his own super edition, which makes people like him even MORE.
9. Feathertail
Everyone likes Feathertail. She “saved” Crowfeather from Sharptooth, and all the cats mourned for her. Crowfeather asked Tallstar to NAME him after her when he probably could’ve saved himself. She is kind of a Mary Sue, as we say.
8. Yellowfang
People like her because they have sympathy for her. She got kicked out of ShadowClan. That really doesn’t sound too bad to me. Her son killed her mate, then he got kicked out of ShadowClan too! I wouldn’t even say she connected with Raggedstar. (not that I’ve read Yellowfang’s Secret) And she KILLED her son. Why would you have sypathy for a murderer?
7. Russetfur
She is loved because of her “boldness” and “seriousness”. SHE WATCHED BERRYNOSE GET CAUGHT IN A FOX TRAP. Then she said it wasn’t her problem. She didn’t even attempt to help him. Just watched him lose his tail.
6. Spottedleaf
Very Mary Sue. Firestar is in the ThunderClan camp for about five seconds and he’s like “oH wHaTs ThAt ReAlLy GoOd SmElL”. BOOM they’re in love. Of course, Spottedleaf is so good-smelling. That’s actually kinda creepy if you ask me. A cat that smells good every time you walk by. Hmm…
5. Silverstream
To be completely honest here, I think Silverstream wasn’t really a good character. She just saved Graystripe from drowning, they became mates, had kits and BOOM. She dead. Then she gave Firestar a life. How nice.
4. Brightheart
She gets so much love because she got her eye ripped out. She is Firestar’s son’s mate, too. It’s mostly the obscene amount of sympathy she gets that makes her overrated.
3. Hollyleaf
Oh, Hollyleaf. She killed Ashfur because he knew her secret, but he tried to kill her,too. Then she TOLD her clan that secret and Hawkfrost killed her in The Great Battle. How heroic.
2. Tawnypelt
Now she just straight up betrayed her clan over a COMMENT FROM AN ELDER. Like, seriously, you go to your killer father’s clan because an old guy told you that you did a bad job. Really.
1. Firestar
Mr. Perfect. Everyone loves him. He is SO Gary Sue that it’s not even funny. He is the most overrated cat in all of Warriors history. He was in love with the creepy-smelling Spottedleaf. Then, he had kits with Sandstorm, but Cinderpelt ALSO loved him. Seriously, Firestar?

Out of all of these, I think Feathertail is the most overrated. Her whole story is being half clan and saving Crowfeather.
No, that’s not true. Have you read A Shadow in RiverClan yet? There is so much more emotion and story under being labeled half Clan.
I know. I did read Shadow of Riverclan. She is so overrated. The fandom loves her and everyone is like, how can you hate her? She is actually a unlikable cat in my opinion. I just wrote a article about it.
Actually a lot of people really, really hate her! And I was just pointing out that her whole life wasn’t just being the kit of a forbidden couple and saving Crowpaw.
She had struggles in her past and lots of pain, memories she juts couldn’t let go, despite her brother wanting to pull her back to comfort. She had an emotional journey, from being a shady, rude character to her Clanmates, and judging them for what they did out of fear….they apologized and changed yet Feathertail just couldn’t let go.
By the end, she said the frozen river broke completly, as Leopardstar apologized to her and her brother, as she realized the importance of empathy and forgiveness.
Like she said, she had to let go of the old leaves before new, fresh ones could grow. That emotional development is stunning, and incredibly encouraging and motivational for me.
She has a backstory.
She’s more than sweetness- in her book, she was often sarcastic in a way not so kind to others. When Stormfur meowed about being cold, she responded by saying “yeah, and complaining about it will make it warmer”
She went from all that, to becoming empathic toward the black sheep of the journeying cats, Crowpaw, and showing kindness to all the cats best she could.

CinderxFire wasn’t Firestar’s fault, and I’m pretty sure only Cinderpelt was in love. And Spottedleaf to Firepaw was basically like Crowpaw and Feathertail. A childhood crush. And also, it was impossible for Firestar to date Spottedleaf because she’s dead. Yup that was me defending Firestar because I still have a soft spot for him. Oh and we need to remember Firestar’s only like this because the Erin’s needed an interesting character to draw new readers into the story
Well, most of there characters actually aren’t overrated. Spottedleaf, Feathertail, Silverstream, and Brightheart are not overrated. I think your abusing the word ‘overrated’ actually. Spottedleaf is not overrated. Hardly anyone even cares about her. She was alive for like 7 chapters then she was killed. Not many people care about her. Feathertail is slightly overrated, but only in the Feathertail vs. Leafpool articles. Also I Hardly ever see people talking about how she saved Crowfeather from Sharptooth. Silverstream is only ever really talked about in Millie vs. Silverstream articles. And Brightheart is not loved for her ripped face, she is loved because she is a kind, nice, and sweet character. But I agree with Hollyleaf and most of the others. (Also Cloudtail is not Firestar’s son, and Yellowfang killed her son because he was horrible and a murderer.)
Yes they are. It is not only about blogclan, but the whole fandom.
Nice article, I agree on quite a few such as Russetfur.
I do however disagree on Feathertail though.
In her Graphic novel it showed that she is not a perfect character. For one she holds a grudge against almost all of her clanmates, which is somewhat justified, yet it stops her from being able to be a good warrior and happy. For another, she gives back the prey Ferncloud hunted on RiverClan territory. Or another thing could be that she almost lets Leopardstar get killed because of her hatred for her.
I think the reasons to love her are quite justified, as she’s a very well thought out character.
I don’t agree that she is a perfect character, but she is actually a pretty overrated character. She was in fourth in the plush competition (?), got her own graphic novel, appears in dreams, gets her own screen time although she is 3 series dead. Also she died in second but everyone likes her. So overrated. She is also not well-written character in my opinion. Shadow of Riverclan wasn’t a good book. It contradicted a lot of her character.
Her appearing in books doesn’t make her overrated, quite the opposite actually. Because there is more well written content on her, there is more reasons to actually like her other than ‘she was nice that one time.’
Because she has an interesting story, well-written character(With a well-balanced personality, character growth, and struggles), and she’s actually important to the plot it is justified that so many like her. That is why I don’t think she’s overrated.
Though we may agree to disagree on this.
With Yellowfang, she killed her son because he tried to kill Bluestar, And during Yellowfang’s secret (Spoilers) She had became friends with Raggedstar after a while, Raggedstar used to hate Yellowfang. || Cloudtail is Firestar’s nephew, Also not everyone feels sympathy for Brightheart, some people noticed she was being idiotic when she went with Swiftpaw, Which in the end got Swiftpaw killed, || Tawnypelt felt hated, it was more than just one comment, It was also like how Firestar looked at Brambleclaw and always thought about Tigerstar. In blixemi’s song ‘All they see’ it talks aboout how Tawnypelt and Brambleclaw were always represented as their father. (Sorry if this seems like hate, I was just trying to defend some cats in here, and prove more reason why some of the things were correct)
crowfeather: that’s not the only reason people like him.
yellowfang: it’s very unsympathetic to hate her for killing brokenstar. she had to, and she felt terrible because he was her son. brokenstar was a murderer himself, everyone hated him. if she didn’t, who would?
brightheart: again, no one loves her just because her eye got ripped out. for example, i like her because she didn’t become a medicine cat. she kept to her dreams, and that’s a wonderful message (unlike with cinderpelt)!
hollyleaf: the story of guilt.
tawnypelt: it wasn’t just the elder. it was everyone. they bullied her and made her feel like she didn’t belong there. i wouldn’t stay in the clan if i was her.

Correction for Brightheart, She’s Firestar’s sister’s son’s mate, I don’t think Tawnypelt was ever overrated, She might even be underrated, I mean when was the last time you saw a tawnypelt article, NEVER. I don’t think russetfur is overrated, let’s be real here, no one talks about Russetfur, other than that I agree, a nice article.

1. Yellowfang killed Brokenstar because he was was evil tyrant!! He forced kits to train too early *cough* Badgerfang *cough* and he killed his own father- Yellowfang’s mate!
2. I don’t love Brightheart just because of her injury- she was a great character and she turned out to be an amazing warrior
3. Feathertail is NOT a Mary sue!! She was taken prisoner by Tigerstar and starved. She wasn’t even in the same clan as Greystripe and her mother died before she opened her eyes!
I agree with some of these, but not all of them

2. But she gets overrated (in books) after the injury happen.
3. I know, but she is still overrated. And taken prisoner by Tigerstar, not being in the same clan as Graystripe does not mean she is not a Mary Sue. She is actually borderline Mary Sue in New Prophecy. She has terrible character development, acts like Spottedleaf 2.0 later on, has her own graphic novel, have a forbidden romance, the authors and fandom likes her, she has a lot of fanart, be in fourth place in the plush contest. And we only saw not even a fifth of her life!

I think so too. But these cats you listed are (most of them) overrated.

Great article, Flintpaw! I disagree with everything. Actually, I feel as though this is more of a list of characters that you dislike, because most of these cats are actually underrated. Several characters that are actually overrated, in my opinion, are Squirrelflight, Jayfeather, and Mapleshade. People say that Squirrelflight deserves more love because of how her mate treated her, but in reality, Squirrelflight is getting more popular every second and Bramblestar is turning into a jerk-who-treats-his-mate-like-a-piece-of-rotten-old-crowfood character. Meanwhile, Jayfeather is pretty popular for a limited amount of reasons, while Mapleshade is popular because people think that she doesn’t deserve the Dark Forest or people think she’s an amazing villain. ~ Cloudy
Yellowfang is most definitely overrated but yeah. Besides that most of the information in this article is either incorrect (cloudtail isnt firestar’s son) or doesn’t give any real information (yellowfang killed her son because he was a baby murderer). This seems more like a “characters i dislike” more than a “characters almost everyone stans for no reason”, which it should be
I don’t think Spottedleaf is a Mary Sue, since she made terrible decisions in her novella (Ex: The Dark Forest, Thistleclaw) which added to her personality, the only parts we see in the main series is of her being all perfect. And also, I don’t think Russetfur is overrated since no one talks about her. But this is your opinion, and that is fine!
