Mistystream analyses Crowfeather and his relationships
Hi everyone! Remember that this is just my opinion, I’m not saying that this is what will happen.
Ok so first let’s analyze the relationship of FeatherxCrow and LeafxCrow.
FeatherxCrow
So Feathertail is the only cat who at first is kind to Crowfeather. He is himself around her, and as they travel, they become closer friends. Soon they start dating but before it can really go anywhere, Feathertail is killed. So I know that was short but there was only two or three books that their relationship was in, and I wanted to summarize it. Crowfeather blames himself for her death, and then when he becomes a warrior, he asks to be named ‘feather’ in honor of Feathertail. He went from Crowpaw to Crowfeather. There is one part where Crowfeather saves Leafpool, but then starts talking to Feathertail, saying that he was sorry that he couldn’t save her. Even though she wasn’t there, it still reminded him that he was helpless to save her from her death

So this one seems a little rushed. But the writers have said they had more out of book meetings before they started dating. . Leafpool runs off with Crowfeather and they have kits together. But Leafpool is still loyal to her clan, so she ends up staying. She gives her kits to Squirrelflight, and Squirrelflight tells Bramblestar that they are theirs. After that, Leafpool rejoins her clan. But inevitably she and Crowfeather meet up a again. They start fighting, and it gets worse from there.
In one part Leafpool tells Crowfeather that “It doesn’t mean I didn’t love you.” There you realize that their relationship has crumbled, and Leadpool’s feelings for Crowfeather are gone. She no longer loves. Then he says that even though she loved him, it wasn’t enough. Her loyalty to the clan outweighed her love for him. They break up and that is basically their relationship.
So. Who will he choose as h8s mate in Star Clan?
Feathertail. Now for everyone that says that their relationship was just a two sided crush, they were still dating. And the only reason they didn’t become mates(probably) is because she died. And even if it was just two young cats with crushes on each other, they loved each other. And yes LeafxCrow was more developed, but in the end their love for each other had died. Crowfeather would not choose someone to be his mate who no longer loved him, or someone that he no longer loved. So in the end I think that he would choose Feathertail, who he thought about everyday, who he named himself after, and who he never stopped loving, even when he was with Leafpool.

Nice article, although I think Leafpool will be chosen. Even after Leafpool and Crowfeather returned to their normal lives, they still pined for each other and thought about each other daily. They wished they could have been together. And even though they had to return to their Clans after running away, they were both broken at the thought of leaving each other. Had FeatherXCrow become mates, they wouldn’t have been together for long either, and would have broken off their relationship, as stated by the Erins. Besides, according to ALitM, Crowfeather will definitely choose Leafpool, as he had ignored Feathertail and spent all his time sharing loving words with Leafpool. Although I do acknowledge that this article was probably written before ALitM came out 🙂
Anyways, LeafXCrow has so much more to them. LeafXCrow is a beautiful example of raw lust, love and longing for each other, wishing things could have worked out, loving each other till the end despite the difficulties they went through, shown in ALitM. FeatherXCrow is simply too perfect: no difficulties in their relationship, just sunshine and rainbows. True love is not going to be easy. True love is not a smooth path laid out ahead of you. True love is going to be hard. The pathway of true love is going to have bumps and holes in it. It’s going to be rough and it’s going to need strength. Leafpool and Crowfeather fought through all their setbacks. They fought through it all. And loved each till the end, as shown in ALitM. Their relationship was put to the test by the Erins, put in a worst case scenario. And they pushed through. LeafXCrow pushed through and both cats are shown to love each other in ALitM. LeafXCrow is a beautiful ship that is strong. Stronger then FeatherXCrow. LeafXCrow is stronger because they fought through all their difficulties and their love remained till the end. It was not sunshine and rainbows. It was not easy. And that shows how beautiful LeafXCrow is.
I used to think it would be feathercrow, even though I don’t like it, but there is a scene in ALITM where crow and leaf flirt with feathertail looking at them in jealousy. So now I think it’s leafcrow. (But this was probably written before ALITM was available in libraries so yeah.)
Regardless of Leafpool loving or not loving Crowfeather anymore, I don’t think “I didn’t love you” shows it. I’ve seen it interpreted as a sign of faded feelings a few times, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be the case.
“That doesn’t mean I didn’t love you” is the answer to Crowfeather saying that she chose her clan – then, when they split. They’re talking about a certain moment. Leafpool means that she loved him then, but doesn’t really imply if she does now. The use of past tense might be more of a language/narrative thing than something with a deeper meaning.
Plus, note that the situation is very awkward for Leafpool. She is in front of her child as well as Crowfeather’s current mate and their kit. It might’ve been hard to say “I don’t”, even if this was the truth. Especially that Squirrelflight says she still loved him, at least a bit, and as Leafpool’s sister and confidante she’s more believable.
Crowfeather’s thoughts about her are also quite blurred and it’s hard to say if he’s completely out of love or just doing sort of a “mind cleanup”/saying that he’s moved on and accepted that all he can wish is for Leafpool to be satisfied. All the “proof” for them not loving each other is honestly something that can be interpreted in a few ways, it’s hard to determine if they love each other.
Nice article! I love Feather x Crow, it’s my favorite Warriors ship, and I agree that he’ll choose Feathertail in StarClan. Plus, there’s never been a medicine cat with a mate in StarClan (I think? Maybe not other than Moth Flight) and we already saw Oakheart and Bluestar get together, so it should be okay for Feather x Crow to continue! And yeah, Leafpool and Crowfeather have a much better dynamic as friends.

Nice article! Personally, I’ve always been on the “Crowfeather will choose Leafpool” side and I feel as if A Light in the Mist solidified that.
However, while I think Crow x Leaf is what is ACTUALLY going to happen, I really hope Crowfeather will choose Feathertail instead so that Leafpool is free to date Mothwing instead! 😛 Leafy deserves better than Crowfeather.
