Ashfreckle criticizes Firestar

Warning: Spoilers for The Prophecy Begins to A Vision of Shadows, Firestar’s Quest, Squirrelflight’s Hope, and A Light in the Mist

Firestar has been around since the very beginning of the entire series, being our very first protagonist to become leader the same arc they became deputy. He was already annoying, though. He just couldn’t do any wrong. He gave prey to RiverClan and then didn’t get exiled, magically saved Ravenpaw and his lie worked, somehow beat Tigerclaw(a cat over half his size and very very muscular.) he beat Scourge also, when Scourge managed to kill Tigerclaw. Did I mention he also SOMEHOW mentored two apprentices at the same time? He had three cats, not one, not two, THREE cats fall in love with him.
Fireheart’s punishments were simple stuff, like cleaning out the dens, treating to the Elders, having no prey, etc. But you know what they never were? Exile, temporarily kicked out, having to scratch new soil over the dirtplace, or nothing bad. He always got away with it. He would also talk behind Longtail’s back when poor Longtail had been loyal and actually nice to Fireheart since Tigerclaw’s exile.
Firepaw was also very perfect and mastered everything he did. You remember Spottedleaf’s death? He somehow found out about how Clawface killed her and took the kits, and, as a under-trained apprentice, nearly murdered Clawface. He hunts prey when he finds Yellowfang and gives it to her, and he doesn’t get badly punished for feeding some random ShadowClan cat prey, he only can’t eat until the next day and has to treat to her.
In Firestar’s Quest, Firestar(for some reason, out of every single cat, he got chosen) goes to find SkyClan against the will of StarClan besides Silverstream and Spottedleaf. Sandstorm, his mate, is reasonably upset at him because it seems like he is doing this for Spottedleaf. Firestar doesn’t bother trying to comfort her about how insecure she is about him liking Spottedleaf(Who is far too old for him and he has a mate, and shes dead) and just brings her with him. Firestar somehow sets up SkyClan and gets it running, and it stays stable somehow? He just leaves them in the end and then we skip to when Sandstorm has kits, and he thinks about how much Leafkit looks like Spottedleaf.

  • ” He just couldn’t do any wrong. He gave prey to RiverClan and then didn’t get exiled,”

    1. Actually, he could do things wrong, like misreading Spottedleaf’s prophecy, (thinking his friend, Greystripe was the unloyal warrior.) Got into a skirmish with his friend over Sliverstream, and yelling at him and Sliverstream after finding out they were having kits.

As well as chasing a ShadowClan cat to their death, forcing two sickly ShadowClan cats back to their clans (which they most likely would die in if Cinderpelt hadn’t gone against his wishes and healed them anyway)

Take in mind that Firestar was a young warrior at the time, of COURSE he wouldn’t have been exiled for that, it would be cruel.

“somehow beat Tigerclaw(a cat over half his size and very very muscular.)”
Fireheart barely beat Tigerclaw, you’re wording it as if he just hit him and Tigerclaw fled with his tail tucked between his legs. He had to spend a while in the med den after that.

“he beat Scourge also, when Scourge managed to kill Tigerclaw. ”
Scourge killed firestar first, then Firestar was able to revive himself (cause he had 9 lives) and took him by surprise.

“Did I mention he also SOMEHOW mentored two apprentices at the same time?”
That didn’t last very long, Greystripe wasn’t mentoring Brackenpaw like he should’ve been, and as a result Firestar had to take over. Cinderpaw got her leg broken soon after.

” He had three cats, not one, not two, THREE cats fall in love with him.”
Um so? What’s the problem with that?

“Fireheart’s punishments were simple stuff, like cleaning out the dens, treating to the Elders, having no prey, etc. But you know what they never were? Exile, temporarily kicked out, having to scratch new soil over the dirtplace, or nothing bad.”

That’s because he didn’t do anything deserving of that, and scratching new soil over the dirtplace isn’t even a punishment. And no, he didn’t get away with it, he was punished.

No…he didn’t, he was very clumsy when battle-training with Bluestar, who easily fought him and won.

“You remember Spottedleaf’s death? He somehow found out about how Clawface killed her and took the kits, and, as a under-trained apprentice, nearly murdered Clawface. ”

First of all, he found out by following Yellowfang who had tracked the kit’s scents back to ShadowClan, found out their kits were held captive, got ThunderClan and kicked out Brokenstar, as well as getting back the missing kits.

He ALMOST killed Clawface as a WARRIOR, when Tigerclaw had planned the raid on ShadowClan alongside Brokenstar/tail.

“He hunts prey when he finds Yellowfang and gives it to her, and he doesn’t get badly punished for feeding some random ShadowClan cat prey, he only can’t eat until the next day and has to treat to her.”

Yeah because Yellowfang was a medicene cat, something the clan needed at the time. Bluestar herself says that Yellowfang is a very wise cat.

Actually, he does. He tells her that there is no cat he’d want more by his side besides her, and invites her to take the journey along with her.

“He just leaves them in the end and then we skip to when Sandstorm has kits, and he thinks about how much Leafkit looks like Spottedleaf.”

So it’s a bad thing if he sees his kit has some resemblance to his dead friend?

  • We need him kept alive for prophetic reasons. As Mary Sue-ish as it may be, his kin are very crucial to the Clans. They keep things going, naturally because of their inherited lineage. It’s only fair and personally I think it makes perfect sense. Why does he need to die? Firestar has made plenty mistakes throughout his lifetime already, we need to let him have his rest.

  • I SOO AGREE!! I personally don’t like Firestar. He is too perfect for me, and I just don’t like him.

  • MAN, why does everybody hate Firepaw/Fireheart/Firestar nowadays?🙀 I mean, I get you have reasons, but you don’t need to roast him.

  • Don’t agree. A lot of people hate Firestar because he hates conflict. If you imagine yourself in his situation when it’s REAL LIFE not entertainment, of course he doesn’t want unnecessary battles. Firestar made Thunderclan into practically the strongest clan in the area during his reign. I don’t remember any battles where Thunderclan lost. Even if the authors maybe just didn’t write them, then that means that they’re not even important in the first place. The battle with Bloodclan, the harsh leafbare(The Clans Decide), and the Darkforest battle were all led by, or Firestar was the most important of them. Tigerstar the first may have united two clans together, but Firestar united all four three times. And Tigerclan ended in tragedy, while Firestar succeeded in all three times. He was the supreme leader out of Onestar, Leopardstar, and Blackstar. Yet he never abused his power. Let’s also not forget how young Firestar was when he became deputy and leader. Seven out of nine of lives he lost helping (a) cat(s) (Fighting Bloodclan, Fighting rats for Skyclan, helping Ravenpaw, helping Shadowclan and saving a kit and stupid Onewhisker, not caring about his health to help his clanmates when he had greencough, fighting for Thunderclan, and in the Darkforest battle). Even if you don’t like his personality, he was a really good leader.
And he does have flaws (nosy, oblivious, too trusting, imaginative in a bad way to be scared of Bramblekit, dense at times, too protective, and more).
