My Unpopular Opinions by Drizz

Drizz shares some unpopular opinions – what do you think?

Heyyy! It’s Drizz! Today I’ll be discussing my unpopular opinions. You may know some already, but just never put it together. Okay! Let’s start!
I hate Jayfeather.
Okay, I know most people love this grump of a cat. But he’s a terrible cat! I literally want to curse at him! Okay, so Jaypaw gets all mad about being blind, and he hates people being like, “Oh, poor Jaypaw! He’s blind!” But he always makes his own choices. He wanted to become a warrior, so even though Firestar clearly thought it was a bad idea, he made him the apprentice of Brightheart. Clearly, Jaypaw HATED that! He insulted Brightheart, and obviously hurt her feelings. Just because you are blind doesn’t mean you can be mean willy-nilly. And Spottedleaf gave him the choice, be a medicine cat or a warrior, and in the end, he chose a medicine cat. He was super grumpy about it! three arcs later, he is STILL grumpy ‘bout it.
I have no opinion on all Crowfeather ships.
Okay, I know most people ship Leafpool with Crowfeather, or Feathertail with Crowfeather. But literally couldn’t care less about either of those ships. I also hate Nightcloud with Crowfeather, but Crowfeather never really loved her. So I don’t ship that, but I don’t care about the other two.
I love Spottedleaf.
I love Spottedleaf, and most people think she’s a Mary-Sue (for those who don’t know what it means, it means a “perfect character”). But honestly, I’m not sure. She has flaws in Spottedleaf’s Heart. She’s ambitious, falls blindly in love. But in The Prophecy Begins, she’s a beautiful, sweet-smelling she-cat. So, she’s a Mary-Sue in TPB, but not in her Novella. She is also a Mary-Sue in the Great Battle, when she died saving Sandstorm. But that’s the reason I love her, because she’s a Mary-Sue.
I love Leopardstar.
Honestly, she’s ambitious, energetic, brave, and an awesome, interesting cat. Her attitude, amazing and interesting and fun. Her just so awesome! I am not good at explaining why I love her, though…
I hate Leafpool.
I hate Leafpool. She’s annoying, boring, she messed with Crowfeather. But honestly, again, I can’t explain why.
I’m pretty much neutral on most ships.
Honestly, I’m not a fan of a lot of ships, they always bore me. But that’s all.
I don’t like ANY of the villains in any book…
Honestly, I really don’t like any of the villains. Brokenstar, an ambitious jerk, Tigerclaw/star, ambitions jerk too, Scrouge, eh, Darkstripe, evil baddie. You get the idea…
I like Jay x Stick.
Here me out, Jayfeather doesn’t deserve a nice, happy cat like Half Moon or Briarlight. But he LOVED the stick, so he chose!
Anyway, those are some of my unpopular opinions. I hope you like, and please, I’ve been going through some random articles, and I saw people criticizing someone for disliking Jayfeather. So please don’t criticize me, these are my opinions, and I respect everyone else’s opinions!

  • (1) Nice article, but I disagree with some points.

    *goes into Jayfeather defense mode*

Jayfeather was ‘mean’ to his Clanmates (mostly in tPot) because they were ableist towards him. As well as this, he had the burden of their sympathy which he didn’t want, having a power ‘greater than StarClan’ at a young age, and being forced to be a medicine cat.

Yes, he wanted to be a warrior. He didn’t choose to be a medicine cat; Spottedleaf and some other StarClan cats did. It’s not right to force Jayfeather into doing anything he doesn’t want to do.

Grumpiness isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I mean, Yellowfang’s grumpy and we don’t see much hate for her! Jayfeather’s grumpiness adds to his character, and while he has been mean, pretty much all Warriors characters have. Jaypaw, at the time, was figuring out the prophecy and him being a medicine cat, as well as after that who his parents were. He had so much pressure on his shoulders and stress, of course he snapped out! I’m not saying that this was right of him, but it’s understandable why.

    • Yeah hes grumpy but he takes it too far sometimes. Yellowfang wasen’t grumpy all the time either, she was really nice if you ever read her super edition. She just overtime just got grumpy like most elders (Ex: Longtail, Mousefur) Jayfeather just hangs onto things and can’t let them go! He still complains about being a medicine cat! He chose to be a medicine cat! Its like being a doctor and than complaining everyday about it! You chose the job so your gonna have to do it! Also you talk about his character, But his main traits are complaining about everything but his family. He cannot stand any cat and the only time I remember of him being nice to anyone besides his family if he even his, Is when he was drowning in the lake and was begging starclan to have him and he not go to the dark forest.

Of course he didn’t like it when cats were like ‘Oh, poor Jaypaw!’ When they said that, Jaypaw guessed (and most likely correctly) that they were sympathizing for him, and they were being ableist for judging him for his blindness instead of for his talents and character.

Jayfeather’s not just grumpy. He also has a very sweet, soft, kind, gentle side that he develops as he ages. Take a look at his relationship with Poppyfrost, for example, during the first few books of OotS. He makes sure that she’s healthy and is always gentle towards her when inspected the kits. He does this a lot to the cats he cares for, especially after tPot.

I don’t think Jayfeather is grumpy about it, three arcs later. He’s had time to adjust and since three arcs later is from tPot to A Vision of Shadows and Jayfeather’s POV is not included, we don’t know if he’s grumpy or what he’s grumpy about.

I respect your opinion, this is just mine about Jayfeather!

  • just in the defense of Jayfeather, imagine this, not criticizing, just imagine. Imagine being born blind, not knowing you’re any different than anyone else. Imagine later finding out that you’re different. Blind. Useless. Imagine wanting to become a warrior, but knowing deep down that you’ll never be good enough. That you need to be a medicine cat. Then, finding out that your birth was a mistake. that your existence is against the law. Then, finding the only cat you love, but not being able to be with them. Then, to have your sister die. then come back, only to die again a few weeks later. Sure he’s a bit rude, but only because the world has been rude to him. But that’s just my opinion. Anyways, great article! Jayfeather is my favorite cat, along with Yellowfang. :p

  • Great article and I actually have to agree with loving Leopard star! But I disagree with Leafpool meddling with Crowfeather because it is the opposite Crowfeather went up to Leafpool and was like I love you and all then did she like him not before!
