Was it all Mapleshade’s Fault? by Cloudypaw

Hello Blogclan!
It’s me, Cloudypaw, back with another article. Today I am retelling the plot of Mapleshade’s Vengeance, if you haven’t read it yet, or have not read it in a while to refresh your memory. And, after that, I will look to see if Mapleshade’s actions against the Warrior Code were all her fault. If you don’t want to read the retelling of Mapleshade’s plot, skip the first paragraph. So, without further ado, lets get started!

So, Mapleshade started out as a normal rule-abiding warrior like her clanmates. She had a normal apprenticeship with a regular life after that. Then, she met Appledusk, a warrior from Riverclan. She had his kits, Patchkit, Petalkit, and Larchkit. She raised them under the newly deceased warrior Birchface, who he and his apprentice Flowerpaw were killed by Appledusk. He was hated among Thunderclan, since Birchface was the leader’s son. When her kits arrived, another warrior named Frecklewish, who was Birchface’s sister, thought they were Birchface’s kits, and loved them with every hair on her pelt, since she believed that her brother would live on through these kits. These kits were terrible at leaping and pouncing, and their so-called father was great at it. An elder named Rabbitfur got suspicious that they were not good at what their father was good at. Then, Mapleshade makes the terrible mistake of bringing her kits to the river on the border of Riverclan. They swim like naturals. Patchkit swims too far to the Riverclan border, and Appledusk has to bring them back, and when he does, he talks to Mapleshade and asks her if they are her kits. She says yes, they are. Then, the Thunderclan medicine cat at the time, Ravenwing, was spying from the shadows. He confronts Mapleshade, and says that these kits didn’t jump like their “father”, but they could swim as well as any Riverclan cat. Also, he received a sign that three water reeds were floating through his den, and those type of plants only grow in Riverclan territory. And, the way Appledusk spoke to her, that sealed the deal for Ravenwing that Appledusk was the father since they looked so much like him. He goes and tells Oakstar, and the whole clan flipped out that Mapleshade had half-clan kits. She tries to explain that they’d always be loyal to Thunderclan, but no-one was having it. Frecklewish slashes out at Mapleshade’s face and calls her kits half-clan creatures, and says that she disgraced her brother’s name. They exiled her the night of a storm, and she has her kits cross the river to Riverclan, and she

  • Yay! It finally came out! It was cut off, and there was a whole other part where I looked at each character and concluded an ending on whose fault it was. :/

Too bad it got cut off, but amazing article, Cloudy! I like how you analyzed Mapleshade’s past and simply stated the facts and not your opinion. I bet the rest of the article was great as well! 🙂 Mapleshade’s my favorite villain, but yes, I think it was her fault.

    • I don’t think it was her fault. Frecklewish watched Mapleshade’s kits drown, and Mapleshade was trying to save them. Mapleshade had right to kill Frecklewish. Appledusk dumped her, and was being a horrible mate, so she had right to kill him, too. Ravenwing was being a jerk, but Mapleshade went slightly wrong there. Though she killed Spottedleaf, it was because she went insane because of the lose of her kits, and in the Dark Forest that was all that she had left.
