An analysis on Bristlefrost: Is she really gone? by Junipershade

Junipershade wonders if Bristlefrost’s story has truly ended.

[This includes spoilers for the last book of TbC, so if you haven’t read it, I don’t recommend proceeding.] Hello! I was known as Cloverpaw/heart but my name’s changed, so if you didn’t know me, hello.. again. Nobody knows me anyway lol

Bristlefrost was one of my favorite characters in the series, and when I read the last book, I shed a tear.

Today I’ll be explaining how Bristlefrost could possibly be alive without being in StarClan, and maybe even be somewhere out there, trying to reach contact with the Clans.

Bristlefrost trew herself at the river to bait Ashfur in it, and she died along with him. Since she died in the Dark Forest, she wasn’t able to go to StarClan, thus disappearing from existence.

But, did she really? Many would disagree, and I can see why. Bristlefrost wasn’t in StarClan, clarified by the dead cats. Rootspring also checked the Earth and his surroundings with his ability, but wasn’t able to sense her there. Thus, many people would agree that she’s gone for good.

But I feel like she’s still out there, looking for the Clans. Here are my reasons:

1. Those who don’t go to either good or evil become ghosts.

Now now, I know what you’re thinking. If Rootspring wasn’t able to sense her, why should she be a ghost? Well, the possibility of her not *spawning* in the close area is possible. She could have ended somewhere else, not close to the clans. That’s just a theory though, and I’ll have to wait to read the next book maybe find some evidence.

2. The alternative reality theory.

This one sounds CRAZY, but, it might still be a possibility. (this was also theorized by Stormpaw’s article and a few videos on Youtube). In her “last moments”, Bristlefrost had a vision of Rootspring and her having kits and hunting together. Now, this might have been just a dream she wished for, or her being confused of having it when she said that “memories of a life they must have shared”. But, might have this been visions of her future? Maybe, just maybe, in some kind of reality, where they had kits. Where they could be together and Ashfur never happened. Maybe we would get an explanation on a Novella or Special Edition or maybe even a short story, but that’s for the Erin’s to decide.

3. she’s just.. gone?

I guess this is what most people accept. She died, I’m sad, I got over it, I moved on. It is the most reasonable explanation that she just died, but that’s a little boring, ain’t it?

Even if it’s boring, it might be the correct answer.. who knows.

  • great article! I think Bristlefrost is dead because when Beetlewhisker died in OoTS, he never went to StarClan, the Dark Forest, or anywhere else. Plus, when Rootspring searched for her with his powers, he felt nothing. I don’t believe the alternate reality thing; it would be cool, but it would screw up a lot of other stuff. Also, an argument about the Cinderpelt-Cinderheart thing is that Cinderpelt wasn’t super special. What makes Bristlefrost special enough to just CREATE an alternate universe? Or defy the rules of the Dark Forest and go to StarClan anyway? She defeated the main villain of the series? So did Scourge, Firestar, Brambleclaw, Hollyleaf, Onestar, Dovewing, Lionblaze, Jayfeather, Ivypool, and LITERALLY EVERY CLAN CAT minus like Breezepelt and Redwillow in the battle with the Dark Forest. So yeah. I think she’s gone. I don’t think she’s special enough to do any of that. But that’s just my opinion! Your free to think anything you want!
    That was long 😬 sorry!

    (First comment?)
(Probably not since it took so long to type this whole thing 😅)

    • sorry but i think you are wrong because an Erin Hunter early release website (Which i have always got the plots first from!) released an article that after the series being published now, they are thinking of letting some/most/all of the completely dead characters to be reincarnated (As due to science, energy cannot be created, nor destroyed, and therefore this would make sense) We may be not only being re united with bristlefrost, but tiger star ans spottedleaf too!

  • It’s not boring that she died, it’s good writing. It’s the best decision. Who would you have liked to die in her place?
Shadowsight has been through enough, if rootspring died it would be really weird for bris to see the what if dream, if squirrelflight died there would be no point to Graystripes death, and I think that ashfur would be happy that squirrelflight had to sacrifice herself, which is bad.
This is really interesting, surprising, and tragic. Its not boring.

    UHM>MMMMMMMMM BRISTLEFROST COULD BE ALIVE!!!

  • I kinda agree with the ghost one, but I have another theory which I will explain in a minute. first of all, if Bristlefrost came back as a ghost, yes, she might have been far away, but ghosts aren’t actually ALIVE I guess, so I don’t think Rootspring would have sensed her anyway. Now for my theory: if you have read The new Prophecy and Power of Three, you might realize that Cinderpelt is reborn as Cinderheart so she could live out the life she was meant to, the life of a warrior. So maybe JUST MAAAYBE…. Did Bristlefrost come back as, like, Bristlemoon? Bristlesnow? I don’t know, that’s not the point. the point is that Bristlefrost, like Cinderpelt, had a dream that they never fulfilled. and Bristlefrost, like Cinderpelt, also died as a sacrifice to save the clans. (cinderpelt died to protect a queen and kits, but like, it’s a sacrifice either way.) Soooo…. what do you guys think? could she maybe have come back as a kit the moment she died? idk, this is just an idea. let me know what you guys think, and let me know if I got something wrong.
great article, and have a great day!!!!

    • I guess if we’re talking Abt who she could’ve potentially been reincarnated into, it’d probably be Spotfur’s kit Bristlekit…. But i really hope shes just dead

    • YES YES YES, my theory is really simular to yours, : also energy cannot be created or destroyed so she would be able to come back (But also would cats like TIGERSTAR)

    • I love Warriors and when Bristlefrost drowned I started bawling crying because it was a sad event. But………Yes, I TOTALLY agree with this. Just like Cinderheart was a reincarnation of Cinderpelt, Bristlekit (Spotfur’s newborn kit, born after Bristlefrost’s death in the Dark Forest) could be a reincarnation of Bristlefrost.

  • she’s gone because it was her *spirit* which was in the dark forest, it was swallowed up by goo which made it fade away

    • that cannot be true; energy cannot be created or destroyed (ITS SCIENCE) so her spirit couldnt just ‘disppear’

  • YOU GUYS I HAVE A FANFICTION THAT THERE IS A PLACE AFTER DEATH IN EITHER THE DARK FOREST OR STARCLAN!!!! Bristlefrost goes there and…….. I’m not telling you what happens, but it may or may not end up on the fan fiction page and it’s not done yet, so if you want to read it, let me know and you could be the FIRST. also, it’s called Bristlefrost’s Return: A Special Edition for our Favorite Hero

Good article! I think Bristlefrost really is dead, but I’m more than willing to accept that there was an alternate universe, because that’s a good theory.
