Hey guys! Today, I am going to be discussing a problem in A Shadow in Riverclan: Stormfur. Anyways, I’ll explain more as I go on. Hope you enjoy this article!
So, Stormfur. Why don’t I like him in this book? Well, in ASiR (A Shadow in Riverclan) Stormfur wasn’t very supportive of his sister, Feathertail. I mean, he really didn’t help her. He never stood up for her, and always agreed with other Riverclan cats. Now, I will tell you guys certain parts in this book that I remember, where Stormfur was just a big butt-head. Alright, let’s begin:
So, the main part I remember is when Stormfur and Feathertail were talking. Feathertail asked Stormfur to help her, since she wasn’t really sure which clan she belonged to. So, instead of telling her that he would help her no matter what, Stormfur was just like, “Feathertail, I wish I could help you, but I’m loyal to Riverclan now. I can’t.” And I was like, WHAT?! He sounded like she asked him to switch clans with her! All she did, was ask if he could help her, and he said no! Like, he’s all protective in TNP, but when she really needs him most, he’s all, “Ah. I can’t help you.” RRRRRRRRRR…
Okay, that’s the main part. Now, here’s another: So, one day, Ferncloud crosses onto Riverclan territory bc she was chasing prey and it ran there. Feathertail was the only cat there and told Ferncloud that she could keep it. Then, they talk. A while later, a Riverclan patrol comes over, and the cat in the lead (don’t know his name but I HATE him) says that he’s going to fight Ferncloud for the prey. Feathertail gets upset, and protects her friend like she would a clanmate. The cat gets mad, and when Feathertail goes home, Leopardstar punishes her. Alright, flash forward a day, Feathertail is doing apprentice duties, and Stormfur comes to visit her. They talk, and he says something like, “You know, you deserve this.” Of course, Feathertail gets mad and says, “So you’re taking their side?” Stormfur shakes his head and says no. But, he literally is. I mean, why can’t he stick UP FOR HER? Uh, so annoying!!!
Alright, this is the last moment. One night, Feathertail sleeps outside the Warriors’ den. Stormfur gets worried and goes to see her. She tells him something like, “I don’t want to sleep with them.” Stormfur doesn’t really do anything and just goes back in the den. Um, hello? She has a problem, and he can’t even bear to see it! Worst brother EVER!!!
So, yeah. Stormfur was never really a good brother. Plus, when Feathertail wasn’t talking to anyone, or making friends, Stormfur kinda just stood there and talked with his friends, not even adressing his sister’s problem. Rude!

Great article! I’m neutral on Stormfur but to be fair Feathertail was kind of shutting everyone out… (I don’t love Feathertail or Stormfur tbh)

Great article! I agree, Stormfur sucked in A Shadow In RiverClan. My whole opinion on him changed after reading that manga. Stormfur is a bad brother and he’s so frustrating and BORING.

Awesome article! I disagree when you said that Stormfur didn’t help Feathertail, though 😀 To be fair, Feathertail was having a hard time; however, the way she dealt with the problem definitely wasn’t the best. She intentionally shut her Clanmates out and refused to talk or participate in anything with them entirely (and she wanted all of this to happen); however, when her Clanmates reasonably reciprocate her emotions and actions towards her, she becomes furious, to the point of having her loyalty to RiverClan wavered. I would say that the way Blackclaw treated Feathertail after she (unrightfully, though) gave prey to Ferncloud behind RiverClan’s back and attacked Blackclaw after being seen was not okay; however, Stormfur is one of those cats who Feathertail trusts and talks with, and at the same time, is comfortable around his new RiverClan Clanmates, and due to his clear empathy for his new friends, Stormfur is absolutely entitled to disagree with Feathertail. Now, we’re looking at two sides of a situation here; Feathertail is defending her emotions and Stormfur is defending what is lawfully and overall right. And, let’s be fair here, while Stormfur was distant after Sasha told Feathertail her secret with Tigerstar, Feathertail did not inform or even hint to Stormfur about the awkward situation she was in, and Stormfur was in no place to help her without a drop of info on what even happened. And it’s not quite like Feathertail is perfect, either — she literally shamed her luck when Leopardstar wasn’t murdered by a fox and judged Hawkpaw and Mothpaw for being Tigerstar’s sons, influencing their unnecessary desires to be equal. Overall, I think that both kitties made mistakes, though this is simply my opinion, and I respect yours 🙂
Great article, but I disagree. It was Stormpaw’s mentor who was killed, he have up his life so that the apprentices could stay in Riverclan. And then Feathertail complains about how terrible it is when Stormpaw just had someone really close to him die.
I think Stormpaw would certainly be a terrible sibling if this would have been in any other situation, but Stormpaw was hurting himself. Still, you convinced me he certainly should have done more to help his sister.

A big butt-head? That’s honestly rude to all the Stormfur fans. Besides, I agree with Phoenix’s comments. Anyhow, I will always love Storm and hate Feather.
