Improving Warrior names I think could be better by Meadowfern

Meadowfern changes names of some characters from the series.

Hi, I’m Meadowpaw, and in this article I will be giving new names to warrior cats that I think could have had better names! I will also be explaining why I think these cats could have had different names. I will only be changing the suffixes of a name(for example: Hawkwing becomes Hawkstripe), and I will be explaining why I think the improved names with the different suffixes would be better. These names were only disappointing to me at first, now I’ve gotten used to them and I love them!

1. Cinderpelt!
For most cats in this article where I would change their names, their suffix is pelt, fur, whisker, tail, or basically a name that describes their pelt. I like names that describe a cat’s personality(like Lilyheart), and I think Cinderpelt is just disappointing. Cinderpelt was a kind, considerate, and wise cat and I think her name should reflect that! I think good names for Cinderpelt are Cinderlight or Cindersong. Cinderlight because of her optimism and kindness, and Cindersong for her considerate personality and kindness. If I had to choose a name for Cinderpelt before she injured her leg, I would choose Cinderspring because of her energy and enthusiasm!

2. Tawnypelt
I really don’t think the name Tawnypelt suits Tawnypelt. Cinderpelt I can understand, her pelt looks like gray cinder. But Tawnypelt!? Tawnypelt does not have tawny fur. If I had to choose a prefix for her, it would have been Flame or Dawn. I do like the prefix Tawny though, it just doesn’t fit her. I disagree with the suffix too, I think a suffix describing her personality is better. If I was Blackstar, I would name her Tawnyflame, because of her fierce personality and courage. Another great name for Tawnypelt would be Tawnyblaze, for the same reasons as Tawnyflame.

3. Breezepelt
I think Breezepelt is a very underrated cat and shouldn’t be as hated as he is. He is described as bitter, angry, and vindictive, but I don’t think this is quite fair. Even if Breezepelt has some of these traits, he does have a softer side too. He can be very caring to the cats he loves, like Heathertail, Nightcloud, and Crowfeather, and he is very loyal to WindClan. I can kind of understand the name Breezepelt, but at the same time I don’t understand why the name Breezepelt was given to him. I think Breezepelt needs a warrior name that represents his personality(like the others), and I have a few ideas that could work. Breezeclaw could be a good name, and so could Breezeshade. Maybe even Breezeheart could be a good name because of his loyalty, courage, and love for Crowfeather, Nightcloud, Heathertail.(I guess Onestar wouldn’t have noticed these virtues though because I don’t think he knew Breezepelt very well 🙁)

4. Sorreltail
I don’t usually like names that have the suffix tail unless I understand them(like Feathertail). I don’t really understand the name Sorreltail, but I do like the sound of the name. Sorreltail is described as having a soft tail, and I’m wondering if that means sorrel is soft. I still think Sorreltail is an okay name and I think it could be better, and here are some names I think would fit Sorreltail better. Sorrellight and Sorrelheart would both be great names which fit her kind and loving personality. The names Sorrelleap and Sorrelspring would both be great names that would fit her cheerful and fun personality when she was a young warrior. I also think the names Sorrelstem, Sorrelleaf and Sorrelfern sound good and they would be good names for Sorreltail too!

5. Heathertail
I completely don’t understand why Onestar gave the suffix tail to Heathertail. There are just some names where the suffix is just completely unrelated to the cat!(like I don’t get the suffix wing in Icewing, Whitewing, Blizzardwing, etc.)I think a good warrior name for Heathertail is Heatherbreeze, basically for almost the same reasons as why Willowbreeze was given breeze as her suffix. 1. Because of her heart being with Lionblaze when she was an apprentice, and she was in WindClan. 2. She is a swift and agile warrior. (I think this relates to the reasons why Willowbreeze was given her warrior name, I haven’t read Crookedstar’s Promise in a long time!)

6. Whitewing
I was really disappointed when Whitewing received this name, how does this describe her at all? Also with the prefix. Have you noticed how many Whitekits there have been? It kind of seems like every time a queen has a white kit, they name them Whitekit! Anyway, I think good names for Whitewing are Whitemoon, Whitesong, and Whitepool.

7. Reedwhisker
I love Reedwhisker! I think he is a very underrated cat, I wish he could have become Reedstar! The name Reedwhisker was disappointing to me at first, I really wanted him to have a name that fits his personality, not how he looks(Does he have reed-like whiskers?)! I think Reedlight, Reedheart, and Reedsplash are all better names that fit his personality! Reedlight because of his cheerfulness and kindness, Reedheart for his loyalty, courage, and kindness, and Reedsplash because I just think it fits him perfectly!
