Flintleaf defends Scourge

Hello! And yes, I do know that Scourge is considered overrated but-

Before I get to this, I want to announce that this is only my opinion and you may HATE Scourge as much as you want, (But I love bad boysss)

Alright, time to get explaining.

Reasons why people may HATE Scourge-
He’s emo (Which is kind of true but yeah…)
He’s overrated (Just because someone is overrated doesn’t mean you have to hate them)
He’s too strong
He’s just boring

I will be explaining why these aren’t true (Apart from him being emo)

1. He’s overrated
The thing is, people say he’s overrated and hate him because of it. It makes him underrated a bit, and then they have no right to say that he’s overrated. But what I don’t understand is why people hate characters because they are overrated. He isn’t, and because you say it and begin to hate him, the people who like him go DOWNNN and he becomes underrated. So yeah……. don’t hate people because they’re overrated. It may make them underrated!

2. He’s too strong
This isn’t a common reason, but I find people to hate him because of this. And I wouldn’t say that! If I were Scourge, I’d fight as hard as I could because my own clan were starting to doubt me, or my siblings bullied me. Scourge fights hard, he’s not that strong, he puts a lot of effort into fighting, and I’d say it’s very well written. If I were him, I wouldn’t want to lose all my reputation, and fight even harder to gain more. This isn’t a reasonable statement to make for hating a character.

3. He’s boring
Scourge IS NOT boring. (Is not in red letters). I find him to be quite interesting, he engages you into scenes with him in it, and makes them quite interesting and dramatic, it adds some drama and spice into the books and I love that. Overall, he’s violent and if you didn’t know me before (I’m Flintleaf), I love drama!

These are the reasons why people should re-consider their opinion about Scourge, if you didn’t like him already. I hope you enjoyed, goodbye!

  • Finally someone who gets me! I’m all for scourge he’s the best. He is only evil because his brother socks and sister ruby (FIRST)

  • Scourge isn’t my favorite, and never was, but after reading The Rise of Scourge, I started to like and understand him more. Though I kind of think he’s overrated. Like, he’s interesting, and has a sad backstory, but still. And when I say he’s overrated, I don’t mean that too many people like him, but that he is liked a bit too much. Other villains don’t get NEARLY as much spotlight as Scourge, despite other cats, like Mapleshade, Sol, and Darktail, having a more interesting backstory. Those three, too me, are underrated, especially Mapleshade. But they are still underrated, compared to Scourge. But again. I DON’T hate him! He’s just not one of my personal favorites.

  • Great article! But I’ve still got to say, despite the good point Scourge is a serial killer. He kills cats for no reason. His followers are a bunch of no goods who would kick out other cats and even kill them for nothing. He’s greedy. Despite him having a whole entire city to himself he wanted to take over the forest and for what? His greed killed him. He nearly killed a PREGNANT she cat(Violet), and despite us not knowing what else he’s done what do you think Bloodclan itself means? How else and where would they get the blood? I don’t know but I do know you can get that from other cats of course. He choose to go down that path and it’s quite horrifying if you consider it by our human standards. THAT is why many people don’t like Scourge. He’s a bad person who used his status to do bad things.

Great article! I don’t like Scourge because he makes no sense. He was beat up one time and never got over it. Like, someone bullied in middle school doesn’t grow up to be a serial killer

    • I agree that Scourge is evil, but saying that he doesn’t make sense doesn’t make sense. He was almost killed by Tigerpaw, not just beat up. His siblings constantly tormented and bullied him his whole life, and his mom did nothing about it. That will really mess up somebody. So he wanted to make sure that no one was able to hurt him again so he got really good at fighting and started a gang I guess. I’m assuming that once he got the power he got addicted to it, and that led to him doing all of the awful things he did.

  • Nice article! I agree, Scourge isn’t overrated. And “I will be explaining why these aren’t true (Apart from him being emo)” Oh, my gosh, hilarious!!🤣 My friend once told two of our friends to draw Scourge (who she described as a small black cat with a collar with teeth in it and blue eyes) and both of the drawings were of a black cat with a red collar (and one of them with some red hair!) and blue eyes that were actually kind of red. The second my friend told them he was “an emo cat,” they both jumped to draw him!🤣 You did a wonderful job writing, Flintleaf!! Keep up the great work!! 😀

  • i respect ur opinion, but the background really doesn’t matter (in my own perspective). most of the cats (usually protagonists) suffered with SOME kind of conflict, but many of them turned out good…
