Why Ashfur Deserves Some Sympathy by Stormbreeze

Stormbreeze argues why people should give Ashfur some slack.

I think a lot of people assume Ashfur is just some cat driven insane by Squirrelflight and his denial that they will never be together. What if I told you otherwise? Have any of you ever even thought that there might be some other reasons for his insanity as well? Let’s start with the simple fact that Ashfur had a hard life despite the whole Squirrelflight distribution.
Does anyone of you really know his family? His mother, father, or siblings? Maybe after this, you will feel at least a little sympathy for Ashfur. Now let’s start off with why I think Ashfur should be given a chance by some of you. I understand Ashfur stepped over the line and crossed some borders that shouldn’t have ever been crossed in the first place but hear me out.
Let’s start off with a little history of Ashfur.
Ashfur was born to Whitestorm and Brindleface along with his sister Ferncloud and his brothers Tulipkit and Elderkit. He also was raised with his half-brother Cloudtail. His mother was killed by Tigerstar and left as dog food shortly after he and his sister Fernpaw became apprentices, and he mourned her death very much alongside his sister Ferncloud. Then he soon lost his father Whitestorm to Bone in the battle against BloodClan, only still being an apprentice. He never got to meet his brothers Tulipkit and Elderkit who died at birth.
Ashfur suffered a lot of losses while he was only a young warrior. Ashfur also did a lot of brave, honorable things in his time. For example, when Ashfur was only an apprentice, he and his sister convinced Fireheart to let them lead the dogs away from camp which was very risky. Ashpaw and his sister Fernpaw risked their lives for their clan. He was still an apprentice when he fought alongside other apprentices against BloodClan and killed Bone.
I can’t think of another apprentice that lost as much as Ferncloud and Ashfur before they even became warriors. Can we at least appreciate that Ashfur turned out decent before the Squirrelflight distribution matter.
That’s all for today! Hope you enjoyed!

    Great article!

  • THANK YOU!! I love Ashfur and I think he deserves a lot of sympathy. He had a rough life and I really feel sorry for him. 🙁 Great article!! 😀 <33

  • Great Article!
    But..
Ashfur was so, so crazy in the Broken Code. He started a full-out war, threatened to kill Squirrelflight’s children, took over a leader’s body, trapped innocent spirits, and so much more. Yes, he did have a bad childhood and Squirrelfight dumped him, but lots of good cats had bad childhoods.
Bluestar’s dad didn’t care about his kits, Crookedstar’s mother was horrible to him, and Breezepelt’s dad didn’t care for him that much(yes, he did try to kill Lionblaze but he was definitely not as insane as Ashfur). Thrushpelt was also dumped by Bluestar but he didn’t go crazy.

  • Great article, however I disagree. Other cats have lost a lot and they didn’t go crazy!

  • A character’s tragic past does not, in any way, justify the actions they have taken. Although I don’t think it’s fair to compare him to Thrushpelt, he has always had the option of not doing the actions he committed.

  • Great article with lots of good points in Ashfur’s favor; however I disagree.

  • Great article! But he’s not the only one that had a bad childhood.

Breezepelt’s father hated him, ferncloud suffered the exact same thing (not being dumped) , crookedstar’s mother was so mean, ivypool didn’t get magical powers when everyone else she was close to did, hollyleaf found out that her whole life was a lie, she met a friend who turned out to be a ghost that can’t leave tunnels, and they didn’t go crazy

    • As an Ashfur lover, I shall cut down all your arguments one by one.
breezepelt joined the Dark Forest. That’s not crazy enough for you?
Ferncloud was scooped up by Dustpelt a little too early on. Also, Dustpelt was SUPPOSED to be ASHFUR”S mentor?
Never read Crookedstar’s Promise, can’t say anything.
Well ivypool also joined the dark forest and only left when she found out that it wasn’t Dovewing’s fault.
Also Dovewing didn’t die on her.
Ashfur being evil isn’t because squilf, but rather squilf last straw.

    • If Yellowfang was reading this comment she would say “Well, he didn’t actually do it so it’s fine! Right?”

I do love Ashfur, but he is pretty guilty for some things I will say.

  • Ashfur definately deserves sympathy. I dont like hearing people saying, “he shouldn’t have gone mad!” Or “Why did he do that?!”. This is just the simple cat that Ashfur is. It’s his personality that does it, and he can’t help it taking over. Overall I feel so sorry for him. Especially at the fire scene!

“Upset? I’m not upset! You don’t know how much pain I’m in. It’s like being cut open every day, bleeding onto the stones. I don’t know how any of you failed to see the blood.”

This was an amazing report and I respect your opinion. Thanks for making this, I feel that now people will feel a bit better about the way he is!

  • You and Sparkpaw should chat sometimes.
    This is amazing.
but I’m very much biased, so…
    eh.
    amazing article anyway.
