“Bluestar’s Prophecy” is a beautiful book, one of the best in the series — for many reasons, including being well-written as well as practicality. This story starts at the very end. The prologue is the last minutes of Bluestar’s life, but just as she’s closing her eyes on the world, the first chapter starts with one-day-old Bluekit having not yet opened her eyes. The book goes on from there, documenting every important detail of this legendary leader’s incredible life, all the way until she sees Rusty in the woods. It covers such a large expanse of time that you really get to know everyone in the story, good and bad.
This book is a tragedy, if anything, and would prove to anyone what true loyalty is. Bluefur battles her way through so many hardships — the loss of her mother, later her sister, even one of her own kits — she is even forced to leave behind her one true love, all for the sake of her Clan and a prophecy. This prophecy was the basis of her life, and it was a lot of trust she put into it, seeing as it came from Goosefeather at the time he was mad as a hare. She gave up every single thing she cared about, and she did it all so that ThunderClan would not drown in blood under Thistleclaw’s rule. This loyalty is so strong that you can feel it pulsing as you read the story, along with the immeasurable pain you also feel with Bluefur. I have read this book so many times that I’ve lost count, and I still cry every time.
In addition, you don’t have to have read every single arc to read this super edition, only the first. Many of the super editions can only be understood when read if you’ve read all of the arcs, but this is good because you only need to have read the first. It’s not a less-good super edition, too. It’s certainly one of the best. If you are looking into reading one of the super-editions, this is definitely the one to start with!
