Streakclaw takes a closer look at the first Tigerstar.
Hello again! My name is Streakclaw, and you should be in awe. Okay fine. I will stop with the rhyming. *Sigh* Why is everyone so mean to me?! World, what did I do to deserve this torture?! Well, anyway, guess what? I am writing this article because I was thinking: is Tigerstar really the villain we think him to be? (Of course you are all gasping right now because Tigerstar is like a major villain and blah blah blah). Also, in case you are wondering, I am talking about the FORMER Tigerstar. You know, as in the first one? Yeah, I think you get it. Anyway, I decided to dig deeper about Tigerstar and answer this question. So I put together this article with my conclusion. Enjoy!
So, we all think that Tigerstar was evil and bloodthirsty from the start, right? Well, after looking into it, I have come to a conclusion with the answer. No. I mean, he might have been. But I don’t think cats are evil. I believe that there needs to be something that INFLUENCES it. So you know how his mentor was Thistleclaw? You know, the evil dude? Killed by a RiverClan patrol and went to the Dark Forest? Well, I think that since Thistleclaw was evil, his evilness rubbed off on Tigerstar. I am pretty sure that Tigerstar also looked up to Thistleclaw when he was an apprentice, and followed his actions. So maybe, if Thistleclaw hadn’t been Tigerstar’s mentor, Tigerstar wouldn’t have been evil? Of course, this is my opinion, and know that I hate Tigerstar as much as anyone, just that I don’t think Tigerstar was all that bad.
After reading more, I found out that Tigerstar was really a sweet kit until Thistleclaw came along. I am also pretty confident that Tigerstar thought he had a vision or something and thought that it meant that the Clan needed to be stronger because they kept letting in kittypets and he heard Bluestar herself say that the Clan was weak. So, he tried hard to become deputy, killing and murdering in the process. Of course, that was thanks to his mentor, Thistleclaw. Really, Tigerstar was impatient, trying to do good for his Clan, but that drove him mad and evil, because Thistleclaw influenced things. So while Tigerstar was trying to do good, he was turning evil.
That is it! Maybe this has changed your mind on Tigerstar, and perhaps strengthened your feelings towards Thistleclaw? It know that, despite what Tigerstar has done, after I have done this research, I have lightened my feelings towards him, and just felt more hate towards Thistleclaw. Of course, I will never be PARTICULARLY fond of Tigerstar; I will still feel hate. And maybe you feel the same, maybe you don’t. Maybe this article changed your mind, maybe it didn’t. But just know that inside, Tigerstar is really a warrior who was trying to do what was right, but turning evil in the process, thanks to that mange-pelt Thistleclaw. Well, that is OFFICIALLY it. See you around BlogClan!
-The cat who gets followed with awe, Streakclaw (Fine, fine. I’ll stop rhyming. Hmph. Why’s everyone so mean?)
Great article!
Great article! Thistleclaw definitely influenced Tigerstar’s actions, but I think it was also Mapleshade? 🙂
Great article! (I personally want more rhyming!)
Great article!
Good article! Additionally, Tigerstar’s father, Pinestar, left ThunderClan to become a kittypet, so that’s another reason why he hates kittypets and thinks they’re all weak.
I agree with the fact that no one is born evil, there’s has to be an influence and motivation behind it.
Streakclaw, your article raises an important question: are the personalities and futures of these cats determined by destiny, or are they determined my circumstances and events in the courses of their lives (like the arguments about nature vs nurture that we hear so often about human development). I agree with you about Thistleclaw; he was the worst possible mentor for young Tigerpaw. He was a cruel cat who encouraged cruelty in his apprentice. There is another factor that you didn’t mention. Tigerstar’s father was Pinestar, the leader who gave up his leadership to become a kittypet. So young Tigerkit/paw didn’t have the guidance of a father and, worse still, he had a father whose reputation he may have felt he needed to live down.
On the other hand Goosefeather had warnings that this kit could destroy the clans. Goosefeather was cracked, but he wasn’t always wrong. I believe he once muttered something like “that kit should never have been born.” And Pinestar had dreams telling him to kill his kit, which, of course, he refused to do.
So, if Tigerstar had had a loving father and a different mentor, would he have grown up to be a better cat? We’ll never know, because the authors needed him to be a supervillian, so that is what he was.
Amazing article! You raise some intriguing points, if a Tigerstar had a nice mentor and a loving father would he have been evil? Would he have been Tigerstar at all?
Also, I like the rhyming! 😄
Great article! Didn’t Goosefeather hate Tigerstar when he was a kit, and just had no reason for it? That could also be a reason. But Thistleclaw, mainly.
I accidentally posted another comment so just ignore this one🙂
Love your rhyming! :))
