Hi there BlogClan! It’s me again, Streak On Cat’s Claw! Also known as Streakclaw or Streaky! Today I’m writing you that ‘Defending Spottedleaf’ part two, (honestly I don’t even know if ‘Defending Spottedleaf’ was published but whatever) but this time – drumroll please! – about the one and only…Yellowfang! So, shall shall we dive into this marvelous (at least I hope it is marvelous) part two article of defending cats?

In defense if Yellowfang – So, Yellowfang was hated by the Clan, and was an overall grump. So I thought people would hate her in real life, so I decided to dedicate this article to defending her and prove to the world that Yellowfang is more than a grump.

Reason 1 – She is actually really kind because when the kits were stolen in the first book I think (I’m not really sure) by that no-good fox-hearted mange-pelt mouse-brained awful Brokentail/star, the Clan suspected it was her because she had left the camp right after, and they also suspected that she murdered Spottedleaf (oh Spottedleaf I miss you so much!!! 😭). But instead, Yellowfang was trying to find the kits, for she had heard they had been stolen before and, with no cat noticing, slipped out of camp and began trying to find the kits herself, which proves that Yellowfang is kind-hearted inside, and not that old grump everyone thought her to be.

Reason 2 – She was grateful to ThunderClan for taking her in and payed them for it by willingly, yes, WILLINGLY, taking Spottedleaf’s place as a medicine cat when she died. This proves that, no matter how grumpy she was, she was willing to help the Clan grow better and stronger instead of standing in the sidelines and watching the Clan grow weaker. So, this shows that she has a heart inside, a heart that belonged to ThunderClan. When she became the medicine cat of the Clan after Spottedleaf’s death, it proved that she would protect the Clan with her life, which shows that deep down, she cares, and that ThunderClan was now her home, and that she accepted the life as a ThunderClan cat. So she cares about ThunderClan more than she lets on.

Reason 3 – Despite her grumpiness, she was really loyal to ThunderClan after they took her in – despite the fact that when they took her in she was a prisoner. She became medicine cat and was definitely the best cat to mentor Cinderpaw/pelt (no offense, Fireheart) because she taught her that sometimes you fail, but that doesn’t mean you tried your best. You see, that also sent a message to the reader as well! Her loyalty to ThunderClan was so strong because warriors started trusting her when she helped them through a harsh leaf-bare and fixed their injuries. So, when she did take care of them, it proved her loyalty to not only the Clan, but to the uncertain readers out there too.

That is all, and I think this is longer than last time…? Anyway, I hope you got the messages I was sending through the article: that Yellowfang is not just a grump, and that you can fail even if you try your best, but that doesn’t mean you’ll fail next time! So long, dear reader, and may StarClan light you path!

  • Great article. Thank you for defending Yellowfang. She is a cat who deserves more love.

  • I loved this, definitely agree! I don’t understand why so many fans hate her, she never did anything wrong. I was so sad when she died! I miss Spottedleaf as well!
