Silverkit lists their favourite and least favourite characters from the series.
Hello I’m Silverkit, Silv, or Silvster and this is my fourth article! Today I’m going to be talking about my top ten favourite warrior cats and my ten least favourite, my opinions have changed since the last time I wrote one of these, but now let’s get started!
1. Ivypool
COOLEST. CAT. EVER. She was such an interesting POV to read, I never once felt bored during her chapters, she also reacted interestingly to situation’s around her, her story with the DF was amazing as well AND she was the only POV I had really liked, apart from Jayfeather.
2. Bluestar
I love Bluestar so much! She got lots of character development and she actually made mistakes and regretted them, she also was a very wise leader and had a good character arc, so she was just amazing to read about.
3. Jayfeather
Speaking of grumpy, snappy, sarcastic medicine-cats, here’s our third cat, Jayfeather! He was a different type of character that we had rarely seen apart from Yellowfang and Crowfeather, and also had a decently cool power, I honestly don’t really have many reasons for liking him, and he might end up getting pushed off the top ten list in the future, but for now he gets to star in the first three cats!
4. Mapleshade
Mapleshade has somehow managed to hang on a place in my sometimes constantly changing top ten, originally she was in first on the list, but she dropped a little, however, she’s definitely battling her way back up. Mapleshade had a cool villain arc and she went through a lot, I actually liked her before I had even read a scene with her, it was like a intuition thing (I have a strong intuition).
5. Redtail
Somehow Redtail has managed to stay in the same spot ever since he first appeared on the list, ever since I read his novella, I just liked him after that, I had no reason to like him in the books because the only thing I knew about him was that he was deputy and got killed by Tigerclaw/star.
6. Onestar
Now, I am going to start off this one by saying I DO NOT like OneSTAR, I like OneWHISKER, they are like two different cats, the transition of personality was terrible for his character. (If you couldn’t tell by now, I have a VERY strong opinion about Onestar)
7. Sandstorm
She had a good transition of her personality, unlike Onestar, while it was a little sudden, she did have a good reason for it, since Firestar saved her life. She also had a lot of grief later in the series, which definitely showed her strong personality.
8. Leafpool
I enjoyed reading about her, but in terms of character traits and other things, she’s definitely low on my list, I don’t really have reasons for liking her, I just do.
9. Hollyleaf
Now, Hollyleaf has grown on me since OoTS, she made a good comeback from her POV (for me) being annoying to read (I hate annoying POV’s so much), while she didn’t get another POV, obviously, she still came back more mature, I know she had a really interesting story, but it honestly didn’t appeal to me.
10. Dovewing
I guess you could say I’m almost neutral on Dovewing, I just like her that tiny bit for her to make it on this list, she was a okay character, but she was nowhere near as interesting as some POV’s I’ve read.
Now for the least favourite cats!
1. Thistleclaw
In my last article ranking my cats a few years ago I said in the comments that I would nowadays definitely put Thistleclaw on top of the list of my least favourite, well, here he is! Launching in to why I hate him, he encouraged Tigerclaw/star (then Tigerpaw) to attack a innocent kit (it did come back to Tigerstar though, that’s me being trying to be mysterious but failing because everyone knows about that, still not giving up), Bluefur/star was the one who stepped in and stopped that, then his relationship with Spottedleaf…- just- ew- ew.
2. Appledusk
Of course when I like Mapleshade I do have to dislike Appledusk, my main problem with him is that he cheated on Mapleshade, not that I’m saying he shouldn’t love other cats, but at least break up with Mapleshade BEFORE you go off with another cat, like, seriously?
3. Oakstar
Yet another cat I dislike related to Mapleshade, he banished her from the clan, sure, that’s what most leaders would do in this case, but WHILE SHE WAS CARRYING KITS!! WHAT OAKSTAR! He couldn’t have done something like wait a bit and think of some other punishment that wasn’t banishment or if he really HAD to banish her, send a guard with her to escort her safely out of the territory and/or let her have her kits and wait a few moons for them to grow up and then send her away? I honestly don’t think Oakstar used enough of his brain on this one.
4. Lionblaze
Lionblaze was a very bland character and he basically didn’t have a personality, his POV was so boring for me, AND THEN he goes and kills a cat and no punishment happens, like isn’t that worth CONSIDERATION!
5. Rainflower
Rainflower was a bad mother in my opinion, she favoured one kit over the other and also convinced Hailstar to change his name from Stormkit to CROOKEDKIT!
6. Lizardstripe
Now that we’re on the subject of bad mother’s, let’s talk about Lizardstripe, well, she wasn’t a good mother at all, she called her kits brats! I don’t have many reasons for disliking Lizardstripe, but I hate bad mother’s in the series a lot.
7. ???
This one I haven’t got a cat in.
8. ????
Yet again I haven’t put a cat in.
9. ?????
Sorry I don’t have enough cats I dislike to put them in here.
10. Mudclaw
I dislike Mudclaw a little bit, but his reaction did make sense to the situation around him, which is why he’s in tenth.
I hope you liked my article, this is all my opinion of course, but I’ll see you next time! Bye!
Silverkit
Great article!
Great article!!!
Great article! Definitely agree with Rainflower, I just started rereading Crookedstar’s Promise and the parts where she’s cruel to Crookedstar as a kit are making me cry 😢 she’s horrible- she literally said that she shouldn’t be having to deal with Crookedstar’s broken jaw and she called him an ugly mess and said he would never be her handsome warrior ever again 🙁
Yeah Rainflower is HORRIBLE
Great article!
For Lionblaze, I would have to disagree. The time he killed Russetfur was accidental and it was also mentioned (I think) that she could have just died from old age and the shove he gave her was just the last straw. Plus he was trying to save his leader!!
Everybody seems to forget that Firestar lost a life in that battle, even some of the characters themselves. The fact that Sagewhisker tried to blame Thunderclan (and Yellowfang specifically even though she wasn’t there) for her death was bullshrew
Lionblaze is just like a OH I LOVE FIGHTING AND IMA BECOME A WARRIOR THAT CANT BE HURT WOOOHOOO character. Booooooooring. Cinderheart should have replaced some of his chapters >:(
Lionblaze, is BORING. I’ve only read up to The Sight, and he was still boring. I felt the urge to skip those chapters sometimes. And yes, if Cinderheart had replaced him, my younger sister would be dying to read The Sight. It would be wayyyyyyyyyyyy more interesting.
Yea Cinderheart is wayyyy better
Awesome article!
By the way, when Mapleshade was exiled she wasn’t pregnant, she’d already had her kits and they were a few moons old already. 🙂
Otherwise, great article.
I don’t really like Lizardstripe, but she might’ve had reason to be mean like that. She didn’t want to have kits, or so she said, and when she did, she was forced to be confined to the nursery, which she obviously hated. Either she just hated being a queen, or she didn’t feel like her feelings had been taken into consideration because maybe she did want kits but didn’t want to have to put away her warriors duties for six moons; if it was the latter, she should’ve staffed that out with her mate beforehand and tried to come up with a solution before diving in headfirst.
For Onestar, I think the change in his personality was worth it. Despite losing his cool character, he couldn’t be a leader who was besties with Firestar – his clan wouldn’t trust him. The change in attitude was important for his development, even if it did make him seem like a jerk.
I’d say maybe put sleekwhisker somewhere in the open slots 7-9, Great article!!!
I personally don’t like dovewing and I could do a whole article about her but seriously, she is basically the worst cat ever
Nice article!
Though I actually think that Ravenwing is the reason that Oakstar banished the kits. When he finds them in the river, he literally calls the kits, “three cats who don’t belong there”. With the way he was talking it sounded like he persuaded Oakstar’s choice. That doesn’t mean Oakstar’s not responsible, but it would mean that Ravenwing is also guilty.
Also love that Redtails on the list. He’s truly underrated.
