Hello everyone! Today is the first day of hustings. Applications for Medicine Cat will be open until July 4th at 23:59 UTC (click here to convert to your local time) – if you would like to run, the form is here!
Today, Medicine Cat candidates Solarflare and Tinyfrost will be answering your questions. These candidates will use the comment space below to put their campaign, while other members of BlogClan can ask their best questions: for example, why do you want this position? What are some good qualities you have, and what are your flaws? What would you want to add to BlogClan? What changes do you hope to make?

I like helping people! I really enjoy greeting new people on the introductions page, and I like talking to people on the positive page and giving shoutouts that’ll make them smile. I mean, obviously it’d just be really cool to be medicine cat, you know, but I also want people to see me and be like “ohhh, that’s the person who helps!” Or “oh, that’s the medicine cat, she’s always greeting people on the introduction page!” I want people to look up to me, and be happy when I’m around, and love talking to me. It’s a lot to ask, but I really want to do this, and at least try; I think it’s a great opportunity and I’d like to participate in this for the experience. Thanks, for considering me.

Ever since I joined the blog, it has been a place I could go to when I was feeling down, feeling lonely or just felt like chatting, and I love the community that has been created here and i’ve met so many kind, friendly and amazing people. I love that the blog a place where we can all go and be ourselves. I’m a shy and reserved person at heart, but the blog has taught me to come out of my shell. If I were to become a medicine cat, I hope that I could contribute to keeping the blog great by always being helpful, kind and a force of positivity. I believe I could be a good fit for medicine cat as I always try my best to be positive and kind to everybody on the blog, because everyone here is amazing! I am also fairly active, and as a medicine cat I would try to be moreso. I know every candidate here is going to be fantastic, but I would be honoured if you would vote for me.

What motivated you to run for Medicine Cat?
If you got the position, what would you be most excited about?
What motivated you to run for Medicine Cat? I thought it was a good learning experience, but I also thought I was a good match — I looked at the criteria and saw stuff like saying hi to people on the introduction page and giving people hugs on the hug page and thought, “oh, I do that, right?”
If you got the position, what would you be most excited about? Two things — one, obviously having my name on the allegiances… that may sound stupid or something, but it excites me, and two — having people look at me and be like “Ohhh, that’s solar! She won the BlogClan med cat elections! She’ our medicine cat.” I’d be excited to help as a medicine cat and be respected as one too; I’d like to feel like anyone can comfortably talk to me and I can comfortably talk to anyone on the blog.
1. I think what motivated me was the community! The Blogclan community has made me feel accepted and welcomed and it means so much to me, and I want to help others feel that way too!
2. I mean I’d definitely be excited about the position itself, seeing myself listed as a medicine cat and just feeling… So accomplished! And it would make me stand out as someone people can come to for advice, comfort or anything else, so i’ll be able to help people more!

Question for Sols and Aurum: What impact are you hoping to have on the blog as the medicine cat?
I’m hoping to make it a comfortable, content place for people to go when they’re sad and get lifted up by us, or just a fun, bustling, friendly community. (Which, I don’t really need to do much, it’s already pretty much like that…)
I’m hoping that I can keep the blog a friendly and positive place (since i couldn’t make it something it already is), and make people feel included and integrated within the community!
these are like abstract questions so bear with me 😛
say you’re walking a trail in the forest, and you come across an area with a lot of litter. what would you do? (walk past, pick up the litter and throw it away, notify the trailkeeper people, etc.)
now you’re farther down the trail and you come across a three-way fork in the path. one leads away from the forest and towards the house where all the trailkeeper people are (your vehicle you used to get there is also nearby the trailkeeper house). one leads into an area where you know there’s more litter that needs to be cleaned. one leads deeper into the forest, where it could be risky since there are lots of venomous spiders and other animals, but there’s like a 50% chance of ther being lots and lots of litter and a 50% chance of it being perfectly fine. it is getting dark. which path do you take?
you’re walking the trail again the next day. all the litter you’ve encountered is clean now. what do you do? a) just walk the trail enjoying the scenery, b) continue searching deeper and deeper into the forest for more litter, c) take care of the plants and animals even though that’s the trailkeeper peoples’ jobs, or d) leave and come back the next day?

I’d pick up the litter and throw it away, because it’d take a lot of time to get the people but I’m not just gonna leave it.
Go towards the litter place. I’m not going anywhere there’s venomous things, but I’ll try to help a bit more before I leave, since I know it’s there.
I’d just enjoy the scenery because it’s so pretty and I just like stopping to listen. I’m not going to take someone’s job or go searching for more work; sometimes I just need a moment to relax.

I would probably pick up the litter, since I’m already there, and provided there’s easy access to a place to dispose of it (because if not i doubt i brought anything to use, since I’m guessing I’m not here specifically to pick up litter)
I would probably go the path where the trailkeepers and my vehicle are next. It would be a good deed to go pick up the rest of the litter, but i didn’t come here specifically to pick up litter, and it’s safer to go home since it’s getting dark.
Going there the next day, i’d probably just take a walk normally to enjoy the trail. Again i don’t think i’m here specifically to do cleanup so it probably wouldn’t cross my mind. Plus if i tried taking care of the plants and animals i might interfere with routines and special measures that the trailkeepers have.

What changes do you wish make on BlogClan? Not many, I just want to maintain the happy, content energy. I do want to make an Appreciation Page, where you shoutout to people.
Could you two give me examples of how you use each of your three traits? Attentive; I’d watch and see people’s feelings through comments, if anyone seemed angry or upset maybe I’d ask why. Extroverted; I’d talk to everyone and befriend lots of people, making them feel happy, and I’d reach out to others if they were too shy. Funny; I’d make people laugh. I’d make people smile with jokes (though Willowstripe also does that).

1. (Copying from another answer of mine for a similar question) I think that the blog is great already and i’d mostly focus on upholding that, but if possible i’d like to add more fun contests, and maybe start a rotation of my own that everyone can enjoy
2. This is a great question! I use my passion mostly in debates and discussion – I’m very much a believer in whatever cause I have if i’m debating it and I will use that to make my words stronger and whatnot. Though mostly my passion is unused, shall I say? I’m passionate about a lot of things, usually my interests, but kind of silent about most of it.
I use my kindness whilst interacting on the blog! I try to be respectful and kind in all my messages, so that they make people feel happy and accepted by me.
I try to use my open-mindedness throughout my whole day, really. When I’m learning or studying things, I try to be open to new concepts and ideas, and when with other people who introduce new concepts to me, I try to be open minded and respectful of them.

I’d try to understand both sides while making the BlogClanner giving the other a hard time calm down so we could talk it out. It’s no use getting mad or flustered, just join the situation calmly and try to understand why. Then hopefully I could get them to apologize.
What's the first thing you would do if you were to get the medicine cat title? Feel proud of myself as I went back to my normal system of checking almost all the pages and chatting with people. I would probably brag to my friends even if they wouldn’t understand what I was saying. I’d also congratulate everyone else on a good job and try not to make it sound like I’m condescending because it can sound like that over text, which frustrates me.
Also, arson? You and my best friend love it so I’m obligated. Arson 🔥🔥

Nooo! I always dread elections because all of the candidates are so so soo talented and it’s hard to choose! (by the way, thanks Reedpaw for telling me there was an election!)
